Welcome, Ladies!! Tara - I was about your age, maybe a year older, when I first joined Spark. I had always been a thin child and teen and was quite dismayed when I saw a horrific picture of myself one Thanksgiving. It was in 2005 (I was 28). I stepped on the scale and discovered I had gained almost 60lbs since highschool. Then I realized I wasn't the trim little teenager I thought I was. Pretty depressing, really.
I joined another, pay site first and made some friends there. None of us liked paying for the site, however, and one of them found Spark. We all made the move early in 2006. I've been on again, off again, ever since. I lost 15lbs and kept it off. I've lost more but gained it back so I'm back on track (again). This is a lifelong journey.
My eating habits are decent but I am not a fan of exercise. I work full time, go to school part time, have a hubby, 3 sons (14, 9 and 5) and 4 dogs. I enjoy many kinds of crafts and cooking and I love to entertain. Hubby and I used to walk before the time change and I thought that was over now that it's dark at 5pm but we've walked a few evenings now in the dark and it's surprisingly peaceful. Since that's about the only exercise I enjoy, I told him it can be an all year thing. We leave the kids at home (younger two in bed, teenager babysitting) and walk the neighborhood for an hour or so. That gives us some alone time to chat without kids making demands or having to referee arguments. The emotional benefit is every bit as rewarding as the physical one. Weather often drops to the 30s but rarely lower than that and we don't live in snow country so the elements aren't too bad.
