The food tracker is such a huge help. Just knowing how much you are eating has helped me out. There are so many great people here to offer support and advice. Please stop in often.

Welcome to Spark. I am so sorry that your daughter had to hear those cruel comments - children can be cruel and hurtful. I understand the husband issue, my husband and three boys can eat anything and everything without gaining weight so they have a hard time understanding my problems. However, they are all supportive of my journey to lose the weight. In fact, my younger sons workout with me and walk with me now. I have been a member for about 4 weeks and have lost 14.4 lbs just by eating right, not much exercise until this week. I know exercise is necessary, but I am taking these changes little by little. I don't want to be overwhelmed and quit. What has worked for me is tracking everything I eat. I mean EVERYTHING, even if I lick peanut butter off the spoon when making my kids' lunch! I also focus on getting all my water. I wish you the best with your journey and you are not alone - I have approximately 90 lbs to lose. Although I am focusing on 70 lbs right now. I am adding you as a friend and look forward to following your journey!

Hi, I have just joined Sparkpeople today. I am married to my highschool sweetheart for the past 28 years. We have two children one 17 years old and one 8 years old. I really want to be healthier for my children. My 8 year old daughter deserves to have a mother who can do things with her. Unfortunately, her classmates are cruel and she has told me several times that they have made hurtful comment about me. This is truly devastating for both of us!
I have 100 pounds to lose and I am under the care of a doctor for prediabetes. Like many of you, I have been told over and over by my doctors that I need to lose weight. Easy to say, but not easy to do! I do have health problems that are a factor. I have PCOS and I am prediabetic. I have severe arthritis in my knees and hips - which makes excercise diffifult.

My orthopeadic dr. told me that I have to lose weight to take the pressure off of my knees - My GYN told me I have 2 choices, check myself into Duke "the fat farm" for 10 weeks (which insurance does not cover and I cannot just take off from work and my family) or have bariatric surgery (which my husband says is completely out of the question, due to the fact that we have a friend whose wife never left the hospital after her gastric bypass). So that puts me here...trying to do this on my own.

My husband has never had a weight problem and eats anything and everything he wants. He is a wonderful man, but he just does not comprehend the day to day battle I have with my weight. I am hoping that sparkpeople will give the the support, encouragement and motivation that I need to be successful in my weight loss.
