Hi, I'm a mom of three boys...My youngest is 3, my middle child will be 5 in 1-1/2 weeks and my oldest is 8. With taking care of the, I have let myself take a back burner so to speak...it is now time to take care of myself so I'll be around to take care of them.

Hi everyone, I'm a mother of 2 great kids, a 3 year old girl and 1 year old boy. I found that I definitely put my kids needs in front of my own, as I should, that's kind of the point of parenting young children, but... This website has been a great tool for helping me focus on my needs and my health and well being. I am hoping that I learn to balance all our needs so that the whole family gets their need met.

Hi, My name is Megan & I'll turn 34 this month. I have 2 boys: Jacob is 7 1/2 and Jeremiah is almost 4. Both are adopted, with very different stories -- i will share them with you all sometime. :)
I've struggled with my weight for the past 20 years, after a very healthy & active childhood. I have about 100 lbs to lose, and I'm just getting started.
One of my biggest "blocks" right now is finding & keeping the emotional capacity to be parenting well, plus make good eating, exercising & lifestyle choices/decisions. The immediacy & urgency of parenting (and life in general) always seems to wins out. I am working on making my health & weight loss a priority -- but it is surprisingly hard.
Looking forward to sharing my experiences & sharing in yours.

Hi I'm Andrea (28), I have a son about to turn 3 and a daughter who is 4. They are 17 months apart and I stay with them 24/7 other than my daughter going to preschool 6 hours a week. I recently figured out I have to *make* time to workout instead of making excuses. I am a runner but it is seriously hard work to push 75+ lbs of kid/stroller these days! I also do Wii Fit and EA Sports Active for Wii while they are napping or in bed at night. I had to cut back on mindless snacking and stressed out snacking at night. Looking forward to support from other moms!

It's fun to see all of these other parents here! I lost weight before (70 lbs) and then put some of it back on after the birth of my second daughter (she's adopted, can't blame her!). Seriously, parenting seems to have knocked my system off kilter. It is so HARD to find time to exercise. Plus, I got into some bad habits during those months of nursing my son.
Add to it, toddler food - and leftovers and I need to drop about 20 lbs to get to my goal weight.
However, when I see my wonderful active kids and encourage them to eat only when hungry and to eat healthy foods and stay active - I find myself wanting to be a good example. I don't want to be the fat mom at gymnastics!
It's funny, I think that a lot of this boils down to self respect. We want the world for our kids - but really they eventually have to do stuff for themselves (not yet of course!). And...we need to do for ourselves as well! A.

Hi everyone! I originally became a member of sparkpeople in 10/06 and after many starts and stops I deleted my old account and started a fresh one.
My name is Rachel and I'll be 30 in June. My daughter Julia will be 4 in June, and I have a 14 month old son as well. I'm wanting to lose weight for them and for my husband, but mainly I want to take care of myself for once. I'm just working on becoming a better version of ME. :)

Hello! I'm Mandi and my husband and I have a wonderful 4 yrs old son, he'll be 5 in April. I can't believe how the time has flown; it just does not seem possible that he will be five, let alone in preschool already! My preschooler's name is Braxton and he is my baby. He is physically a good blend of me and my husband, though I think he favors his father more. He is definitely as stubborn as his father, if not more so. He is a little cowboy/hunter, just like his dad. He loves to go coyote hunting with us and prairie dog hunting and loves the rodeo, too. My best friend and I took him to the Denver Stock Show last weekend, to the Draft Horse and Mule Show, and he had such an awesome time! He loved the horses, which I knew he would, and thought the wagons were "awesome". That's his favorite word, awesome. We live in NE CO, but he speaks with a slight twang, almost like a southern accent. I have NO idea how he developed that! LOL He does not rest so we are always busy with him.

Heya all! I'm Roma, mother to 4 year old Benjamin. The light of my life! I'm 32 and a year ago november my husband left me and abandoned our amazing child! I however, am a fighter. In all of this, I lost sight of myself and what I needed to do for myself. Now that I know what I have to do in order to make the changes, that is what I plan to do. I've managed to keep myself and my son afloat for the past year, I think I can probably do this too!! Wish me luck, just as I send out positive thoughts to all of you who are here for the same reason! If you ever need an ear, trust me, I have a great one!

So wish me luck, I would like to lose some weight and gain a healthier eating lifestyle and including exercise without it feeling like a chore.

Hi! I'm Cameron, mother to 2 year old Felix. I'm new to the site, new to the boards, but have never been a huge one for forums, etc., so I'm looking for all the help/guidance I can get.
I'm a SAHM for the time being, but the job search is on, and I want to feel better about myself on all the interviews I hope to have! Losing weight is a key component to that. I also want to have more energy and stamina to play with my son when the temps finally rise in the frozen Northeast.

Hi, my name is Nicole and I have a 3 year old son named Christian. I am engaged to get married to my son's father in March and am trying to lose my belly fat to look good in a dress. My son is in the middle of being potty trained and he is against the whole thing. He will use the potty very well at daycare but once he gets home he freaks out. So that is the challange for me and him so he can go to school this year.

I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to this team. My name is Amy and I am new to this team though not new to spark. I joined just over a year ago and with the support of an amazing group of girls from the Toddlers under 2 group was able to lose 25ish pounds. Then through the glories of lifes trials and tribulations...am within three pounds of exaclty where I was this time last year. I am turning 30 in May (or as I say 29 + 1) and thought I would look into new groups.
I have only one child, my beautiful, energetic, smart, adrenaline junkie, typical 2year old tantrum throwing "baby" boy Joey. He is the light of my life as well as what will be the death of me! hahaha I want to be healthy for him as well as teach him how to be healthy.
I like to think that I am great for support and motivation, and thrive with the support/motivation from others. I hope I can be an asset to this team and hope to gain what I give as well!
Hi my name is Sarah. I am turning 30 this summer four days after my boy turns four. My son's name is Aiden. He is a very large boy (not heavy just looks like is is 5 or 6). He was a 12 pound baby and he has just continued with looking and acting older than he should. He is very smart and bright but he is also super active and has some behavioral issues we are keeping a watch on. It is really exhausting and terrifying to be honest with you. Which basically means I am constantly just trying to make it through... Let alone find time for myself to exercise and take care of myself. Other tidbits about me: I work at an elementary school library and will be student teaching next year. I hope to be a 3rd-5th grade teacher SOON. Oh, I am married and have been for 8 years and I have two dogs.

Hi my name is Kathy and my toddlers name is Ana. She is a spirited, energetic, 3.5 yr old little girl. She keeps me busy along with her toddling 20 mo old little sister, Emilia. I adore my girls... My husband and I decided to do spark people together to lose the baby weight once and for all. We are having a lot of fun with it, it is so nice to have the extra support. We are both in the kitchen measuring things up together it makes it seem not so tedious. We have a pretty crazy life. I work 2nd shift (3pm-mid) and my DH works days We have a 5 min switch off 4 days a week (I only work 32 hrs) In the past I have had a difficult time staying on a program. I am hoping the teamwork will make all the difference. I really feel quite blessed to have such a team oriented husband and two wonderful little girls to help me burn the calories :-)

Well lets see....I have been married to the same wonderful man for 11 years, and I am a 32 year old mother to a miracle baby who is now 2 1/2, and a 15 year old step daughter whom my husband and I have full custody of. I am also a mother to 5 (yes 5!!) angel babies in heaven. After YEARS of miscarriages and heartache, I found out when I got pregnant with my miracle baby Maddisyn Grace that I have SEVERAL blood clotting disorders(Duffy, Antiphospholipid, Anticardiolipin and the Lupus Anticoagulant) on top of a malfunctioning thyroid. My pregnancy with her was awful!! I had to do Lovenox injections (blood thinners) twice a day, bed rest from week 12 due to bleeding and a whole lot of steroids and other meds. My princess was born at 28 week, 1 day weighing a great big 1 lb 12 oz. She spent 2 months in the NICU at RCRMC and was sent home at 3 lbs. By the grace of God, she is HEALTHY! She is actually advanced for her age, physically and mentally. I am sooooo lucky. With all that said, that is pretty much what led me to be in the physical shape that I am in now. Don't get me wrong...I have NEVER been a thin girl. I was on Atkins before I got pregnant with her, and I lost 70 lbs in 7 months, but I gained it all back plus 60 lbs extra since then, and I eventually tipped the scales at 346 lbs. I am the biggest that I have ever been. I want to get in shape for my own good, but also for my family that I love sooooo very much. I want to be healthy for them so that we can do more fun things, and set an example for my girls. Its very important to me.

Hello,
I am the mom to a toddler that will be 2.5 years in February and a preschooler that will be 4 in April. They truly are amazing.
I used to be a runner before having my youngest child and I'd like to eventually get back to it, but time and a bad knee hold me back.
I'm getting started with losing a few pounds and slowly starting to get back into exercise again. If I need to, I'll go back to PT to work on this knee. Otherwise, I'd like to start running again in the spring. We'll see how it goes.

Hi everyone!
I stumbled on this website and am very glad I did. I've only been a member for a few days now and can't believe the resources and support this website offers and all for free! Incredible!!! I'm a 31 year old mother of five children. We recently moved to Southern Minnesota and I love it. I love reading, camping, fishing, and most outdoor activities. . I taught second grade full time until my two year old was born 2 ½ months early. She's doing really good now and you can barely tell she was born early. I am currently working on my master’s (in education) and substitute teach at the local elementary school. I can't wait until I have enough energy to keep up with my family while we participate in everything. Can't wait to meet new friends and for all of the support this website brings.

Hi. I'm Valerie and I'm new to Spark. I have a 3 1/2 little girl, Frannie. She is a wonderful, girly, and energetic girl. I was 41 when she was born and I have not had any success in losing the "baby weight". I lost about 1/2 (15 lbs). I keep loosing and gaining the same 5-10 pounds and after gaining the 5 back over the holidays I gained another 5 on vacation and now weight more than I ever have, except before giving birth. HELP!! Nice to meet everyone in here. I hope to get lots of motivation and inspiration here.

Hey Tracy,
Well done you for making the choice to change your lifestyle, I wish you all the best.
You're right that its all about baby steps. Sometimes when you try to rush things you set yourself up for failure. Lets take this race like the tortoise and not the hare and make sure that we come out winners!!

Hi!
My name is Tracy and I live in the 1000 Islands region of northern NY with my husband and our 5 children, ages 4, 11, 12, 13, & 15. My husband and I battled infertility and when we finally accepted that we were probably not ever going to be biological children--our kids are all adopted--I gained a lot of weight.
Anyhow, enough about me for the moment! I have a fabulous 4 year old named Alex who has been in our family since he was 3 days old. He is a momma's boy and he started preschool this year. He is the only student who still clings to Mommy's legs when he is dropped off! LOL He will be going to pre-K in the fall because he is NOT ready for kingergarten yet.
And now back to me...LOL. I have never been small; but I ballooned from 195 pounds to my all time high weight of 267. Stepping on that scale was a wake up call and I am trying to make a change. I have lost 12 pounds since deciding I need to make a change.
It is all about baby steps and I am hoping to make the mental change that will help me make this a change for a lifetime! I am hoping to find some people who can help keep me motivated and even kick me in the virtual butt if I need it!
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.

I'm Alica, and I am a single foster mom. Most of my placements have been 5 or under, in fact only one over who was 7. Emily and Paige lived with me for 10 months. Then I had two children for 2 years. Nicholas and Gracie were 2.5 and 4 when they came and left this past July when they were 6 and 4.5. From October until the first week of January I had a three year olf little girl named Carmen, and since November I have had a four year old little girl named Xena.

To all the single mums out there, keep going, you are doing the most amazing job ever. I have a lovely husband who is home most days as he works nights and weekends, and I still find raising our three beautiful boys very tiring, both physically and mentally.

Hi! I'm a 25 yr old single mom to an adorable (although mostly challenging) 5 yr old little princess Danica. Being a single mom makes it very tough to focus on working out or eating right but this year I'm really trying hard to change. Glad to have found y'all!

Hi I'm Kenya! I'm a mother of 1 very busy 3 year old and married to my DH. I also work full time in an office that always feeds us. I'm hoping this will be my chance to lose the weight I've gained.

Hi! I'm Cat! I'm a mother of 4 beautiful, brilliant, bubbly and on rare occassions bratty kiddos! My oldest is Ashton, he's 11 years old. Madeleine is next, she is 9. Then I have two sweet toddler boys, Ant age 4 and Christian age 2. Being a mom is tough work and its hard to find time to take care of yourself. I'm grateful to have found this community to help support me in achieving my goals!
Hi I'm Diane. I have two pre-schoolers. My youngest is two and 3 months and his brother is three and 5 months - hands full!! I am lucky because my husband works nights and weekends which means he is home during the day. I jog twice a week after I have dropped the three year old to nursery and my eldest son to school. I run with a friend who also has school age children. I also used to swim on a Saturday morning but the weather has turned so cold (English weather), I'm not sure what is happening in your part of the world. Anyway, the cold is a bad excuse, I should get back in the pool as it was really making a difference, giving increased muscle tone and strength.

Hi everybody! My name is LeeAnne. I have 2 preschoolers (A 3 year old and a 22 month old) and thought I'd get involved in this group. DeAnn, I am the second of ten kids; just thought that was a coincidence! My youngest brother is 10. I am excited to talk on this forum about ways to stay active and eat right with preschool aged needs on the mind. Have a great day, everybody...

Hi, My name is DeAnne and I have 10 kids who have all been preschoolers at one time or another, but right now I have one preschooler, Raphael. We call him Ray or Ray-Ray. He thinks his name is Ray-Ray. That's what we called him as a baby and it stuck. He is so incredible! He's beautiful. He has dark hair and blue eyes and the most angelic look most of the time. He is capable of pitching a fit and then it's not an angelic look! He loves the Wii Fit and spends hours a day on it. I have to wait til he tires out before I can get on. (Can anyone say spoiled?) We are planning on getting out the stroller and walking to pick up the kids from school but we haven't yet. I try to fit in exercise when he's sleeping which is difficult. He's sleeping now and see, I'm on the computer. I need to get off and get going! Y'all have a good day!!! Question for all-- when do you fit your exercise in??? I need suggestions!

On World Vegetarian Day, most people aren't willing to trade in their turkey for tofurkey. Luckily, you can still reap the benefits of vegetarianism by trying flexitarianism on for size.
