I can tell you as someone that has sprained each ankle 5 times, I so wish when I had these injuries that I gave them the 6-8 weeks of rest like the doctors told me to. I know that sounds like a long time BUT I can tell you that the everyday pain and swelling that I have now for the rest of my life (and I'm only 35) is not worth it at all. You need to rest that ankle, elevate, and ice it as often as you can. If you don't all you will do is not allow it to properly heal and have long term affects. I know this isn't what you want to hear, but trust me, I wish someone would have been honest with me when I had my injuries

I would think you should give it a few days of rest.

I started the 30 day slim down on Monday and I sprained my ankle on Sunday (most likely while I was at work). I didn't realize what it was so I've just been doing all my normal stuff. And when I say normal I mean: starting a new running program, keeping up with the 30 day program, walking half a mile to the bus stop and then back again, working for 4-5 hours, totally on my feet, and cleaning/cooking. My question is this: when are we suppose to give it a break? Should I have stopped and started resting it Sunday night? Is it okay for me to keep up my normal routine and just rest it when I can?
