Hey TornadoTamer - 30DS is really difficult in the beginning if you're not accustomed to exercise, which it seems you might be. If it ever gets "easy" (which it does, eventually, after days of doing it) just increase the weight of your dumbbells. Then it gets impossible all over again!

I like to do the same level over and over again until I master it, others like to do a set number of days/weeks (10 days/2 weeks) before moving on to the next level. You can sort of mix it up however works for you. It's nice to see yourself able to do more and more of the difficult moves as time progresses.

Hey there, HNBKAS, welcome to the team!
As Jillian says in one of her [?Ri30?] videos, "You won't die." lol. So, have no fear about JM killing you. It is however very challenging, especially in the beginning. BUT, if you continue to do the workout for a couple more days after that initial one, the DOMS soreness fades and the workouts start to get a little bit easier. I promise emoticon

HI all, New to this team, I am on my 12 week back to SP and am down 28.8lbs. I am looking to kick it up a little and have been looking at doing the JM Shred and stumbled on here. So here I am. And here goes nothing I guess. If I don't try I won't know right. So here goes. I am starting today. I have been working out the last 12 weeks so i am not starting completely from scratch but I am still a long way from being in "shape". So Pictures and more to come. I am so glad there are more folks like me here.
I hope I don't kill myself trying this.

It just so happens that this group has nothing to do with 'The Biggest Loser', except we share an appreciation for Jillian Michaels. JM has lots of DVDs that are out that we've all had varying levels of success with (30 Day Shred, Ripped in 30, No More Trouble Zones, Yoga Meltdown, 6 Week 6 Pack, etc. etc.). It just so happens that many of Jillian's workouts are available for free online.

You could start with the '30 Day Shred', doing each level for ~10 days with 1-2 days rest. All 3 levels are available on YouTube if you search for them, and might be available On Demand from your cable provider.

Hi!! I'm Shelly and I just rejoined Spark! I had an account a long time ago but didn't utilize it like I should've! I'm an 8th grade teacher and have about 30 pounds to lose. I'm trying not to focus on the scale too much... I just want to feel good and healthy!! Hi everyone, I'm Moni. I loved doing Jillian Michael's dvds while going through college (undergrad), but when I started graduate school (working full-time plus overtime) exercise pretty much took a back seat. I'm hoping to get back in shape (and lose some weight). Several years ago at my fitness peak, I hiked across the Grand Canyon, Rim to Rim - 24 miles. I'm hoping to do so again in May 2015. So I'm starting my Jillian dvds again. I loved 30 Day Shred, Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, and No More Trouble Zones. I also have her Body Revolution, but figure I should work to regain my base fitness before attempting that one. :)

Hi group! My name is Amy. I've been following this message board for a little while, but I am just beginning my Jillian journey. HI my name is Isis
I started 30 day shred on April 1. today is Day 2. I love it. I completed it before, a few years ago, but this time I seem to be able to handle it better. Musicallyminded, I hear ya! I am sweating also, but I stick to it..last time I lost inches and was not working as hard as I am now. I was 42lbs heavier, I completed walkaway pounds for 30 days prior to this time, so it seems duable

Hi Tracy & Morgan! I was 203 when I started the 30 Day Shred about 1.5 years ago. I had never done a more difficult workout in my life! I'd never committed to a routine like that either. But I did it and it felt great (inside, outside I was sore!)
I stuck with Jillian, finding other workouts and 30 challenges to do. I also worked on my nutrition (which is always a work in progress). I'm 40 pounds lighter and the healthiest I've been since my teens.

Her DVD's work, stick with it - you will be amazed at the results. Be sure to take your measurements, not only will you shed pounds but inches too!

Hello, everyone. I'm Tracy and I just started doing the Shred last week. I have already dropped 5 pounds and am already seeing a change in the way my clothes fit. Now I know why my friends have raved about this DVD. It is a BIG challenge for me, being over 200 pounds, but so far it seems worth it.

Any other ladies over 200 lbs trying to accomplish this? I'm sweating like a beast at the end of each workout! Ahhh! But it's only 25 minutes, so I figure I can manage it!

I've been a member of this team for a long while, but haven't actually done the video or any since. I need to get back on track. Last year I did awesome on 30 Day Shred but had to stop because of knee issues. Since then, I've done physical therapy and shouldn't have a problem with the video anymore. However the holidays and my husbands deployment has been hell on me. Back at it, starting tomorrow. I took all my measurements today.

Hi my name is Kati. I am looking to get into exercising again (its been about 5 years give or take). I need to loose about 45 pounds and am hopeing I can do this on this board.

Hello all! After two failed attempts at this 30-Day Shred couple years ago, I'm trying again. I read that Michaels said to do 2 days of the dvd followed by a day of cardio, another 2 dvd days, 1 cardio day, and then rest. As my shoulders are very weak (still! Despite my best efforts too strengthen them) due to past injuries, I'm more than happy to take those cardio breaks and that rest day. Also, I'm continuing with my regularly scheduled program of my fitness classes and running. I don't do well with changing too much so adding in an extra thing is easier than taking out a whole bunch of other things.

I've done my first 2 days of the dvd on lvl 1 and am on my first cardio day. Shoulders are super sore but the rest of me is perfectly fine. Am excited to do it this time!

Hey everyone!! I finished day 2 of The Shred this morning. I have had to take 2 doses of Advil today too! WOW, am I ever SORE! But I hope this is well worth it. ((Normally I don't like to take a lot of meds, but currently I need to until my muscles get used to it)). I hope to see some posting soon! Jen

Hi everybody, here I go, didn't get going yesterday, but I am going to get going today! Got my videos, my 3 lb weights, a 10 lb kettle, a mat and weight glovies with no fingers. And my weight has hit 74kg, the highest i have ever weighed. If this does not call for serious work from my part, then what does? I really want to shed some weight and i seriously want to stick to this workout routine. I hope that i can in this forum find all the motivation i need.

My name is Margie, and I am getting ready to do the shred. I am not quite ready yet, planning on starting on October 1st through November 1st. I want a little time to set up my space, get acquainted with the video, and decide whether I want to do the shred with or without the weights (I have the kettle and the 3lb weight versions). I feel very nervous about this, afraid that I won't be able to do it. But I keep telling myself, one step at a time is the only way to go.

I am very out of shape, so maybe this isn't the right video for me. I have been a couch potato for the last 10 years, half of that I had chronic illness. I weigh 182 and I am 5'3". But I WANT something more for my life, and I am determined to change. I have already begun a balanced weight loss plan, including vitamin supplements. My doctor has given me the go ahead, and at age 46 I have no high blood pressure, heart or lung disease or anything else that would medically hold me back.

If you have any ideas that could help me, please drop me a line.
