Behappy - notice I don't put the "gotta"? you will be happy. You will do this. Try to change the way you think of food, yourself and your beliefs. We are too hard on ourselves, it's time to change that way of thinking!!

Hi Bunnababy,
Welcome!! I definitely get what you are saying. I never thought I'd be where I am either. But you know, this journey on this site is taking me down a different road. For the first time, I'm looking forward to this. It's not oh no another diet. I don't even look at the calories. I just say go for the healthy foods. By the end of the day I track them and I'm lower than my required amount. But I'm eating well and not deprived.
Sometimes I think putting too much pressure on makes it worse. So. You've come to a really great team with some really really nice people. Dusty the team leader makes everything fun. Join in, let us get to know you and lets share this road together.
I got into spinning the points wheel, keeping in touch with people and chatting along the way. It's fun to look forward rather than dread. Maybe try some of those things.
YOU CAN DO THIS!

Hi guys. I guess my first comment is that when I was younger I never would have thought I would see 301.2 on the dr. scales. Well, here I am. I am having a hard time even finding the initiative to count calories. I have tried the Atkins, SBD, Monarch, lf, etc. etc. I have come to realize that the moment I tell myself not to eat something anymore I panic inside. I have decided that counting calories, using SP as a tool, and just plain calming down about it is going to be the best approach for me. That way NO FOODS ARE COMPLETELY OFF THE TABLE, I will just have to observe portion sizes.

BHappy- That's what I had the hardest time with at the beginning. It seemed things I ate weren't on the list so I gave up. But I decided to get back at it. My calories have been under as well but I'm okay with that for now. I know I can always add something like an apple.
Try to get your fruits and veggies in then your other foods. That's what I found to help me.
It's good you reached out, we all know how difficult this is. It's nice to know others understand and can offer some help.
You can do this!! Stay with it!!

I joined SP 2 days ago. I tracked my food today and not so good. I am under in Calories,but high in carbs and fats that is my same old story gotta to start reading label's before I put it in my mouth.

Novena - I am understanding you! No matter what I eat, I track it, look at the results - salt is off the chart. Who knew how much salt was in stuff.
emoticon I have this vision of having no more salt, I'll look like a pool that collapses and all this water will rushes out. There. Weight gone. The end.

Thanks for all the kind "welcome" messages! Am able to keep tracking my foods and stay under the allowed amount of calories, still need to work on lowering my salt intake. But having a hard time making myself do much exercising... Anyway, it's nice to "hear" from all of you.

Just joined SparkPeople this month, so I'm a newbie. But I've struggled with my weight all of my life. Most of my relatives are heavy. However, my kids have managed to stay slim. My daughter, 29 yrs old and youngest of my three children, is really encouraging me in this endeavor. As is my hubby. I've gotten very uncomfortable at this weight and am missing out on things because it's just too difficult or hurts too much to join in. So I'm hoping for... er, make that WORKING TOWARDS a healthlier life. I am very impressed with the information, tools, and motivating people that I've found here at SparkPeople.
