Catnips, sounds like we are on similar paths. Time to use the gadgets to motivate us & when you get a pup, there will be no excuses for not walking more. They just give you this look & you know you should. :) One bonus with a dog walking buddy is they are always ready to go & don't decide to change plans at the last minute. :)
Good luck to you! We WILL do this.

So I'm not new to sparkpeople, although I might as well be since I dropped off for a while. I am new to the Wii & the balance board. I was lucky enough to be surprised by getting one this Christmas from my parents! Typically I would be hurt by such a "weight loss" focused gift, but I had been debating on splurging on one for myself for months.
In the past, they have been less than tactful about not approving of my weight. Ex. My sister signed us all up for a half marathon at Disney the year she got married. She wanted us all to get in shape for the wedding. I'm not a runner, yet. The fear a half sent into me was nothing less than traumatic! My parents supported this by paying for half the cost of a treadmill for me to train, since I am too self conscience to workout at a gym. I got to finance the other half.
I used to be more athletic when I was younger. & I also used to be anorexic. So at this point in my life food is an issue, but to the other extreme!
I am currently at 202 lbs. My goal is to get HEALTHY. Some charts say that is 130 lbs for my 5'4" but judging from my past, I think 145 is more reasonable. That's my goal & I can re-evaluated as I go.
My main focus is on moving more. I want to find fun ways to fit in burning calories. With that eating can be what it needs to be (within reason). I know its all about calories in versus calories out. & I also know I have learned to enjoy food & be okay with enjoying it way too much! :)
In addition to the Wii, I also adopted a pug the day after Christmas. I don't count him as a gift, but he has made my life wonderful. The added walks are a plus, but the feeling of unconditional love is bliss.
I'm a gadget girl & you rarely find me without my pedometer on. Course while this used to motivate me to walk a lot, I have fallen off track. No more. Back to aiming for the 10,000 steps. I will get back there!
So 2009 was a very hard year for me & I went through several very hard emotional & psychical things. That being said, I have closed the curtain on 2009 & am happy to welcome 2010. This is going to be the year I get back to health. I am ready & I know I can do it.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL & I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING US REACH EACH GOAL ONE BY ONE.
