So lost 3 lbs for this challenge 10 since starting to track in SP.

Reward for when I get to 5 lbs for this challenge is a new body wash, lotion and candle of matching scent. There is a new company that makes Hawaiian scents and they are made here on Oahu. I found them at the NEX a couple weeks ago and bought a wash and a lotion....but I want a matching set of all these.

My punishment is going back into my fat clothes! (Oh yeah, I don't have many left since I sold lots of them at a yard sale this weekend! that is one way not to get back into them, huh?)

It's good that you're anticipating slipping back into old habits... That's the first step in prevention. I'm a Murphy's Law advocate on the subject of my weight: "whatever can happen will." It's good that you came here to share it on the thread.

That said, good enough is good enough, and perfection is deadly. You've done really well up until now; and nobody with your success had it easy! Just go to plan B (HAVE a plan B), and get right back on it.

I'm having trouble. I'm a teacher and going back to work next week. I've moved classrooms, so I've spent all week working to get the new room set up and in the intense heat we're having with no air conditioning, I just go home and melt on the couch. What's worse, I'm so tired, we ate fast food today for dinner. Yesterday, I had training all day and didn't track anything or even sign in to the site. I'm afraid I'm going to go back to my old habits once school starts. emoticon I feel angry at myself and fat! Oh, and hot.

Hi Gang,

I haven't said anything until now, but please post current weight only once per week, preferably on weigh-in day, which is Monday. That way, the thread needn't be bogged down by daily weigh-ins, but posts about activity, challenges, or lessons we've learned. It isn't even necessary to post current weight weekly, but on the last Monday of the month so we can check the success of the challenge.

We're here to give to as well as take from the team, and to see what the result of taking a bit of the focus OFF ourselves does to affect our weight control.

Hrm, okay - I'm a little scared with all the punishment/rewards thing - but I'll try it.

I weigh 196 today.

Oh wait - I know! As a punishment - I post a picture that my friend took the other night. I'm 15 pounds down now, and I *still* look like a cow in it! (Actually, that's an insult to cows, because cows are really cute)

Challenge Number Two

Type, then write a breakup letter to the 5 lbs you will have lost by this month's end.

Why the breakup letter?

It's good to make an official goodbye. It is a statement of trust, a declaration that if all else fails, it will not have been because you did not imagine it differently.

Also not bad is having a written document of your change when your motivation is low. And we all know that motivation is our biggest challenge. Nothing wrong with trying to stand taller in your own eyes than the problem, with just a few written sentences! You needn't share them with anyone...

Let's face it: it's been a love affair (kind of). But when it's over, why not externalize it and establish distance with the weight gain? This way it's easier to reclaim (internalize) the weight-loss behaviors you no longer practice.

I've put a copy of mine on my blog, but I've also a written copy, with the signout "Goodbye."

FIRST CHALLENGE

What Is Your Reward?

Before we get started with the changes we're about to make to shed this 5 lbs, we need to plan a motivation, a reward.

A massage, a pedicure, going out to the movies - any non-food reward you feel makes the 5 lbs worth it is more than acceptable, but it has to be a reward big enough to make it motivating.

And here's the rub:

You need a punishment.

Here's mine: there is a religion to which very prominent people belong which totally gives me the heebee jeebies. I promise to give $25.00 to this religion as a punishment for not having lost this five pounds. Stark, huh?

Post your reward on your Sparkpage, and tell someone about your punishment before you start, so that they will hold you responsible. The best person to tell is someone who would LOVE for you to fail, but who has the nads for that??? (hehehe)

I'm in!! I need a good motivator to get me started. I got married 3 yrs ago and have slowly gotten to the highest weight I've ever been my whole life. One of my motivators is my niece is getting married next year in Jamaica and the whole family is going. So I have a whole year to get back down to my pre-married weight of 145/150...
