Welcome gsmile! Jump right in, most of us post on the daily chat thread the most, but any will do. I look forward to getting to know you better! emoticon

As for the tracker, I usually go to my personal page on here and find most of that stuff when I go to the 'edit my page', in your signature area you can add your tracker. But here is a link I hope works for you to make your own? www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/ticker_c

Hi Everyone!
I lost 60 lbs initially on Medifast, but have regained 25 over the last couple of years. My biggest challenge is a big appetite along with an intolerance for hunger! I get nervous when I'm hungry! I've used Medifast sporadically to try to control the weight gain, but now will be going back to 5-1 plan.

My first time around, the key to my success was the community support that used to be available on the Medifast site. I actually made a close friend through that group. I know that I can't do this alone! I'm still trying to figure out how to negotiate myself around this site. For example, I can't figure out how to set up the weight tracker. Anybody?

I appreciate that you all are here. There are other websites where you get criticized for using a program like Medifast instead of "real food." I say, do whatever works for you. The important thing is that we get healthy, and Medifast certainly helped me with that. By the time I'd lost the weight, I had normal blood sugars and no longer needed cholesterol or blood pressure meds. The seems like success to me!

Hi everyone!

My name is Jeanette and this is my second round of Medifast. I did the program in 2009 and dropped 40lbs, but after starting a new job and the MANY, MANY company lunches, and after work happy hours I gained it all back plus a few.

I just turned 31 and am now ready to take control of my weight forever. I have been overweight since I was probably 6 or so, and a lot of that came from learning bad food habits from my parents. But I haven't lived at home for 16 years, so I can really only hold myself accountable now. And above all I refuse to teach my 2 year old bad eating habits. So, I've reset myself and am REALLY looking forward to meeting the new healthier Jeanette.

I've been on plan (well kinda) for two weeks as of today. My birthday was the weekend before last so I did not make good decisions for 3 days, but have been sticking to it since. I'm down 6lbs... definitely could have been more of a loss had I been more disciplined.

I'm running my second half marathon in October, so right now I'm on the 5&1 4 days a week, and 4&2 on the three days that I have my longer 6+ miles runs, so I know my progress will be slower... but it's not just about being skinny, it's being healthier overall. I am shooting for 70-75lbs loss according to my body fat scan. I'm meeting with a counselor at a MF clinic weekly to hold myself more accountable. It is PRICEY! but that extreme expense has made me stay on track when I would have otherwise thrown in the towel.

I have an awesome, supportive but naturally-thin husband, and I have chosen this time not to tell him I'm doing Medifast. I'm just tired of telling him of new latest and greatest diet I'm on and then not following through. But I'm really excited for him to start noticing the results. And it's been easy to just cook my lean and green and share the same meal with him and my son, but just give them a serving of carbs.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone better and being a vital asset to each others weight loss journeys through support. I stalked this page for 2 weeks until I finally decided to join.

Thanks everyone!

Hi, I am brand new here and new to Medifast. I went to a clinic in the city I live in on Wednesday of last week and began my diet on Thursday. Its wonderful to read the success stories, there are so many motivational stories here. It gives me hope. I am still trying to figure out how to navigate through Spark People. I am excited to start on my journey of becoming a better version of myself and live a healthy life. 😀😀

Hi everyone,

My MF is going to arrive today, so I figured I would go ahead and get registered somewhere so I can give and receive assistance from like-minded people. I've done MF before and had great success. Like the majority of people with lifelong weight issues, I enjoyed the smaller body for a few years and then whooooops...take illness and injuries and mix with old bad habits, and the next thing you know, blimpo all over again.

So here we are today, I'm still in physical therapy for some pretty nasty back issues and I'm tired of waiting on getting better for me to start losing weight. Even though my husband introduced me to MF years ago, he's not really thrilled that I decided to go this route again. He feels we can lose weight together via a more typical approach, but I've been hearing that song and dance for months now and nobody's lost anything but time around here. (I think I just heard UPS pull up, yay!)

Anyways, here's to another successful round of MF. I look forward to making new friends on this leg of the journey. Cheers!

Hi, I am Lisa - Just started MF yesterday - same story as most - lots to lose, tried everything - nothing worked - have a friend that did really well with MF and said she found it easy - so am jumping in!! Yesterday was first day. It went fine, food was ok (not great) some better than others - but wasn't expecting gourmet - so wasn't surprised. Didn't car for the caramel crunch bar - salty and didn't like the consistency as I ate it (crunch was fine - it was what happens as you start chewing). BBQ crunchers were so/so, but loved that I could "snack" on them as worked at my desk - so that was a plus. Peanut Butter soft serve was good, not real sweet, but I enjoyed it. The Veggie Chili was my fav of the day - I added 1/2 cup of rotel to it and a dash of tabasco - thought it was good! Got my 8 glasses of water in and had a nice L&G meal with my family - grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. Added a pat of butter to broccoli.

so first day was fine - nothing remarkable - did notice that mid-day I got alittle hungry, which is why I added rotel to chili and that seemed to help a lot - think it was a volume thing!!

Today is about the same. Had Cinnamon/BS cereal - it was so/so, but again liked the snacking ability when eating it dry. Had Sloppy Joe for lunch, with Rotel again - and that was good.

I take Synthroid, so trying to figure out best time to take it - took it yesterday morning - but had to wait awhile to eat anything, so today am going to take it this evening when I go to bed- and make sure its been 3 hours since I ate.... want to see if that works better....

Hi, I'm not an expert, because I'm starting the plan on Monday. My sister went to a center, which she was happy with, but there was a joining fee of several hundred dollars. OTOH she got bloodwork done, used a DXA machine or something similar, and got other helpful information. My SIL is a TSFL coach, so my husband and I are going through her. No joining fee and she's worked out how to do the program as inexpensively as possible, but no medical advice either. We already get annual physicals, though, so I'm not too worried about possible health issues.

I'm thinking of starting MF ....(oy vey)...again...and really wondering about the new programs. Does anyone have any experience with the newer programs or going to a Center vs. TSFL vs. Direct?

HI! I just placed my first order for the food. I am in my 50s now. Weight Watchers worked well in my 20s and 30s. But then I couldn't seem to make it work. I was hungry -- starving -- all the time. I hope this system works. I am shooting to lose 20 pounds.

Hello all,re- committing to Medifast after a 3 year break. Lost 45 lbs in 2012 and gained it back due to my fault. SW 194 and CW 184. Started July 22,2015 and have lost 10 lbs already. Had one slip up with a handful of trail mix but felt so guilty. Staying on track and hopefully will be at my GW of 145 soon. Glad you all are here!

So many of you (Beachnap and more) have similar stories to mine. Lost a good amount of weight, didn't reach goal, tried again, etc.

On TSFL I lost 30 the first time around and never reached my end goal. I really liked the plan - just got lazy/cheated when I got down to the very high end of my "normal" BMI.

I have been on and off TSFL for more than a year. Good for days at a time - then getting off of it for a week, etc. Never could properly do it. Tomorrow I am restarting like it is my first time on it again and am committed to following it 100%. So to keep me honest - I am posting here and starting a blog.

Fingers crossed. grabalifepreserver.com

Thanks! Only about 25 lbs after doing some "on my own" dieting. I knew that the last few needed a more serious program to succeed.

Hi everyone! I'm glad I found an active MF group online and hope to check in here regularly.

I had a lot of success on MF in 2013, lost over 70 pounds in 10 months, reaching a weight of 155. My highest weight was over 260, lost 35 in a year (pre-MF), then started MF in 2013. I love the MF plan, esp. the fast results and I'm not only referring to weight loss. Within a couple of weeks of starting, I had ZERO carb cravings, a better outlook, tons of energy, slept better, less aches and pains, etc.

I've been struggling since 2013, never reached my goal and have yo-yo'd 25 pounds at least 3x since, using MF off and on since but never staying on plan more than 3 weeks. I usually quit around day 3-4. Anyway, hoping to restart soon, stick with it, reach goal and MAINTAIN!!

Welcome GLC! emoticon Ten isn't too bad, but like you said, it's good to head it off now before it could get out of control. I'm in the maintenance phase and just learning how to do that, so it's always a concern with me too. Good luck! emoticon

Welcome, Tama! So glad you joined us! When I rec'd my first shipment, I wasn't happy with most of the food. But I soon found my favorites. In fact, I think I'll make MF part of my life long term (even after transitioning). I can see having some bars or bakes around for quick meals.

Congrats on your success over the last 8 weeks. It's awesome! emoticon

Hi everyone,

I've been on the Medifast/TSFL plan now for 8 weeks, but just joining this team. I'm very happy with the plan - down 20.5 pounds since I've been eating the food (plus 5 from the two weeks before I started). The first few days, really hated the food - left a weird taste in my mouth. But, now I actually look forward to it and if I eat according to plan, I'm surprisingly not hungry. I have a ways to go, but quite encouraged with how Medifast if working for me. Looking forward to encouraging and being encouraged by you all!

Hi, I am excited and so READY to start this program. I just ordered my first package today after meeting someone who lost 30 pounds doing it - I had never heard of it before. I started looking for a support group online to help keep me accountable, and even tried to start one myself on myfitnesspal, and everyone had negative feedback. I am glad to find a forum of supportive, positive people going on the same journey, so thank you to everyone for creating this safe haven.

Hi all! I'm s glad I found this group, I have been doing MF for 1 week and have done pretty well at staying OP, with 14 lbs lost already. It is a little freaky, but I will take it. I love seeing what everyone does to stay motivated and learning which mistakes to avoid. Thank!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Laura and I have been yo-yo dieting for years and soooo tired of it! My husband, who needs to lose 100lbs, and myself, who wants to lose 40+lbs, decided to start TSFL. We have been doing it for a month now and I have lost 8lbs and he has lost 15lbs. We are both really excited with how simple it is and the flexabilty of the plan. I'm enjoying making new things like cauliflower fried rice! I know how important having a support group like this is to reach our goals together. You will be seeing me frequently!! emoticon

Hi~ I started on Medifast in November 2012. I got to my goal weight then decided to lower it, but never quite made it. I've been in a semi maintenance mode and unfortunately have gained almost 10lbs this last year. I don't feel as good as I did so I,m ready to get back on it.

I enjoyed and really benefited from the old Medifast site. While evaluating where I'm at and where I want to be, I realized I need the community support and challenges to hold myself more accountable and I just miss it.

I'm working on sticking to the 5/1 plan, getting my veggies and protein in and moving more!

Hi. I am just learning about the medifast program. I ordered my food today so I haven't really started yet. I just talked with my coach. I have seen a lot of good results from his clients on Facebook. I have been a member of Sparkpeople for about 8 years so I like the idea of staying connected to other medifast losers with Sparkpeople.

Khutchin, you've got this! Congrats for getting started! I was taking two blood pressure pills daily. Started Jan 10th and immediately my blood pressure dropped. I stopped taking the pills and still monitor my blood pressure regularly because I couldn't believe how good the readings are. It was 100/70 this week-end. So, I know the plan will work for your blood pressure. Change your mindset. No more yo-yo dieting, this is the plan for you! No more cheating, there is such a variety of foods that you don't need to cheat.

Hello everyone! I am officially starting today. lots of weight to lose. lots of yo-yo dieting over the course of my life. I get discouraged easily and cheat a lot.
I have a vacation planned for July that I'd like to look and feel better for (better than I do now).
Plus I need my blood pressure to go down and I'd rather not go on BP meds.
I'm hoping my following folks on this team I can stay motivated and inspired.
Wish me luck!

Vicki, that is absolutely awesome! 19.7 lbs in three weeks! emoticon

Log in and visit with us daily. That's where I pull my motivation. I don't have a support system outside of this site so I'm here daily. I've been OP since January 10th and love the program. There has been times when I'm tired of it and feel like I need to quit but then I look back at how far I've come. I went from a size 16 to a size 10 since January. Still in the obese category but feeling pretty good. This is the smallest size I've ever been so I know the program works.

My loss is slow but consistent. I average 2 lbs a week. If you stick to the plan, it will work. There is no way you can continue on this plan and not lose.

Like you, I was considering the surgery. Many people around me was getting the sleeve or gastic bypass. I'm fearful of surgery so made one last commitment. I'm glad I did. My blood pressure is down (I was on two meds), my cholesterol is down and my blood sugar is down.

I'm rambling because I'm trying to talk myself into being successful today. Mother's Day equals chocolate to me and I'm craving chocolate. Just ate a MF chocolate mint bar but it didn't help.

Oh well......................it's a great program. Hang in there and scream if you need some help / support. We're here. A few people are on vacation so the boards are quiet this week-end. It'll pick up in a few days! But there are a few of us here so let us know what we can do to support you!

Hi everyone! My name is Vicki, I've been on Sparkpeople a long time, and have lost a considerable amount of weight several times, only to have most of it come back. I have managed to KEEP about 10 pounds total from coming back since starting. I left sparkpeople for a time and went to another site because my beachbody coach recommended it, the other site used "net calories" and I found that confusing. At any rate, I returned to sparkpeople, deciding I liked this site better.
I decided at the start of this year that I was fed up with the yo-yo pattern I've had for so long, and I looked into whether my insurance would cover weight loss surgery, surprisingly they did, but I didn't really WANT surgery, so I decided to give it one more try through diet and exercise, but basically gave myself a deadline to get under 200 pounds, the end of this year.
I seemed to have lost my enthusiasm for my old approach of just eating healthy and staying under my recommended calories (the level set by Sparkpeople), even though my intentions were good, I went from January-April without any real progress. I decided in April that what I was doing wasn't working. I belonged to the Y, but it was too far from my house to be practical for workouts (about 30 miles away), so I cancelled my membership and decided to join Snap Fitness, the people at Snap Fitness heard my story, about how I'd been exercising regularly for some time (just not a gym), but couldn't get the diet part of equation right. They recommended Medifast, and so I started it. I just finished up my third week, and so far I've lost 19.7 pounds. Keeping my fingers crossed that this continues to work for me. I know it will slow down, but I'm just praying that it doesn't stop, and that I don't lose steam like I have before.

Jesus died to set me free and its about time I let Him do it!

Hi Everyone!

I just ordered my food yesterday and I'm hoping to have by this weekend so I can start planning out my go forward with my coach. I'm happy I found this supportive and active board because I am terrified of going at this alone. I did MF once before around 3 years ago and because I didn't ask or request help I ended up failing. I am determined to not make that mistake again. I have a great coach, motivation, and hopefully I will be able to beat my shyness and participate in this community!

Hope you all have a great day and I look forward to supporting and being supported by you all!

Lost 20+ pounds on Medifast in 2010. I've tried multiple times to restart and I fail every time. I've got my meals in my TSFL cart (and more at home that I keep using here and there) and I'm debating over starting again. Trying to find whatever it was that kept me on plan in 2010. I haven't been able to find it since and I'm so discouraged. Now I see that there are no boards for support, but I found this one so here I am. Hoping this will be the encouragement I need.

Welcome Maydance! emoticon I'm glad your here and recommitting yourself to being healthier and dancing for you! You deserve it!

As for your birthday. I had mine in Jan. when I had 3 months under my belt, but I started this journey in October before Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years, and I have managed to stay on plan with no cheats this whole time. All I kept in mind was I was doing this for me, my treat, my gift, my reward, my cake was a new me, a happier me, a healthier me, and that I am worth every sacrifice I make in order to achieve this new me!

You are too! emoticon

I first tried Medifast 2 or 3 years ago. It worked really well. When I was feeling really good about my body, I got scared to feel that good. And I started stuffing myself. I have had many false restarts and times of just giving into the SAD. However, as of today I have committed to 45 days On Program. In 45 days I will have a chance to certify as a dance instructor in a technique that I love. And I am don't want to be sad doing this with 4o extra pounds around my middle. I don't want to be trying to certification in a physical art and thinking, yes but.... yes but this would be so much better if I was slimmer. So. I have actually recommitted to Medifast as of today and I am determined to stick with this for the next 45 days. See what happens. After the dance technique attempt to certify I will evaluate an reevaulate what I want for my body. But for NOW I am in.
I am already worried about surviving my birthday as far as food celebration goes. Any thoughts or ideas on that are welcome. :)

Nice to meet you all. I am really looking forwarding to having friends to get through my weight loss goals with. I want to lose 60 pounds, some of which I gained over the past 18 months due to workplace stress. I am ready to stop blaming and start recovering my body and spirit! Let's do this.

Welcome sugarcrane! emoticon As for the dairy/cheese its only approved ones, and yes it counts towards your lean and green. Look under the Medifast helps here where I wrote resources info, that will have more info on what is allowed and not, and how it's counted.

As for doing this for a month, then transitioning to a low calorie diet.....it will not work IMO. Reason is, Medifast is more than just low calorie, it's also low carb, sugar, etc. If followed correctly it puts you into ketosis which is where you will lose the weight if you stay in it. Once you add certain foods back in, you can lose that ketosis and stop losing the same way.,ask anyone here who has cheated even a little on this program, and you will see that it doesn't work.
Even when we reach our goal we will have to transition into a low carb diet for most of our lives to maintain. It's like with any thing, it's about learning to eat the right foods all the time to fuel your body. The longer your on this program the more you learn what's best for you too.

Hi, I'm starting Medifast on Wednesday as I have been counting calories and working out for a month with no progress. A couple questions, the dairy, cheese and milk substitutes, do we get one of those a day or do they take the place of a healthy fat? Also I have been working out for about 2 months 5 times a week to T25 (Shaun T, HIT type workout) do I need to stop working out? I was hoping to just do MF for about 30 days then take a couple of weeks to transition back to a low calorie diet to see if I could lose something. I'm not sure if I can sustain MF for months till I lose my total goal of 50 lbs, With an end in site I think I'll be able to be true to the diet but to go on indefinitely has me scared.

Hi everyone. New to Spark and on the medifast program for a second time. Lost 70 pounds my first time around back in 2008 and back again to try again. Same story as alot of others where you don't change your lifestyle and the weight creeps back on. I know the program works and I felt great so I am trying it once again. Hoping for support as I know that it helped so much the first time around.

Hi Suzy, welcome to the group!

I don't think the coffee is your problem. I have a (large) mug 3-4 times per week with a bit of sugar-free syrup or creamer (1 condiment). Check the nutrition label to make sure that it is no-carb though. One of the rudest discoveries for me was that something that is sugar-free can still have carbs. Before starting this diet I counted carbs and sugar as pretty much the same.

The water retention could certainly be problem, but I see a much bigger problem with your lean and green. You NEED to get the full recommended amount. Otherwise, you will lose muscle as well as fat and your metabolism will tank, then, not only will you not lose, that eating plan is not sustainable and you will start to eat normally again and the pounds will fly back on (and bring some friends!). You don't want that.

You're can spread your green out throughout the day if you have trouble eating that amount of vegetables at once (but trust me, at some point you'll eat all your veggies and look for more!) for instance, do a soup and put in 1/2 cup of broccoli, do a shake and put in 1/2 cup of spinach (that would only be 1/2 of one green, so a full cup is better but sometimes people don't like that much spinach).

Broccoli and spinach are my go-tos, because they taste great and are easy to work with both fresh and frozen, but you can also branch out and experiment. I've been doing some fun recipes with cauliflower from Sandy's Kitchen Adventures (watch the condiments and extras with her!).

When I was first starting I found it easiest to eat roughly the same thing every day. One of my other go-tos is chicken breast with frozen broccoli. Grill or bake the chicken, microwave the broccoli, and in 20 minutes you're sitting down with a decent meal.

Welcome Suzy! emoticon

As for your question, it's really important to get your full lean and greens in every day. It makes a huge difference. You won't lose as much as if you followed plan to a T, meaning 1 1/2 cups of low/carbs veggies, or 3 cups of the lowest veggies a day. So work on that part, and getting all your water in. Make sure also if your using a creamer for your coffee it's on the approved list, and count it as a condiment too. I don't know about the coffee, I don't drink it, but I know others here do, and I hope they can chime in.
Good luck on your journey, you can do it!! emoticon

Welcome, Suzy! What an awesome first week! Water retention could be a problem at that time of the month. I've learned to drink my coffee black on this plan. Try eliminating that for a while. I know it's important to get the right amount of the L&G, I'm using the MF L&G so I no experience with the amounts. However, there are lots of 'experts' on our daily thread that could give you advice. Make sure to post there, as well.

Don't get discouraged! You will see a loss this week!

Hello everyone. I am brand new to MF. I started on 4/8 and lost 6 lbs my first week. I'm into my second week and have somehow gained 1 lb so I am feeling a little discouraged, especially since I have been trying so hard to follow the plan. I follow the plan 100% with the exception of 16 oz of coffee daily with a small amount of sugar free creamer (low carb). This didn't seem to make any difference my first week so I thought it was ok. I'm now wondering if that could be part of the problem. The only other thing is I don't think I always have the full lean & green meal as I will sometimes only have a 1/2 cup of one vegetable. As a female, I'm also wondering if water retention could be playing a role at certain times of the month. Anyway, I'm looking to lose about 80 lbs in total and would appreciate any guidance/advice you may have! Good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone! In 2012 I lost 160 pounds in 11 months on Medifast. Less than one month after reaching my goal, I was promoted at work. I didn't do well with the stress of a completely new and overwhelming and very active position and didn't care what I ate. I was just trying to mentally survive. Well I'm here because after stupidly gaining back all but 40 pounds, I'm determined to go back and do what I know works and take off this weight FOR GOOD (hello transition!). I love Medifast! I love the simplicity of it, the strictness, and the rapid results which are so encouraging. I'm a big believer in being 100% OP. I believe this strengthens my resolve. I miss the old MyMedifast community (what's up with that?) and I know that support and encouragement give-and-take in this process is soooo important. My goal is to lose 112 pounds.

This is my 5th day and I've lost 11 pounds and feel great!

Catlaugh - Welcome, I'm sure that you will succeed this time as well. I miss the old Medifast site also. It was a good place to meet people online and compare notes. This team is just as good!
