Hi. Today is my first day on the Medifast plan. I have 44 pounds to lose and would love to meet people on the same journey. So far, the best part of the program is that I don't have to think and prepare several meals throughout my week. I need something easy to follow, at least for now. The scariest part, is being around people and watching them have ice cream. Good Luck to everyone on this forum!!

Welcome Wltrn! emoticon It is sad all the changes medifast has made, I think in a lot of ways, it hurts a lot of people. I wish they could see that.

Hi! I am returning to MF. I lost 70 lbs and have regained 10 over the last year. I'm not waiting until it gets worse! I want to lose the 10 and then another 10 for optimum health.

I am so disappointed in the changes MF has made with their website. Recipes that were old standbys are gone and all f the forums deleted. I'm not sure why they think that people on the plan don't need support.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well on the program. I am glad to be back 😀

Hi Everyone!!!!
I just started Medifast last Thursday and went in today for my first weigh in. It was a few days early but because of my schedule, today had to be the day. I was down 4.5lbs in 5 days. I'm feeling really good about that, but , I know I still have a long way to go. Any encouragement will be appreciated.

Hi everyone! I'm back on Medifast after 6 years of being asleep and gaining weight. Last time, I lost more than 50 pounds in 4 months but quit out of boredom with the food. This time, I'm looking long-term and how to keep myself motivated. Instead of focusing on what I can't eat, I'm going to focus on all the delicious foods I can eat, like fresh salads, crunchy veggies, shrimp and scallops...yum! emoticon

Everything is connected.

Welcome!!

Take it one day at a time and plan your lean and greens ahead of time. Always keep a bar or some portable meal with you...at some point you will be out and realize you need to eat and if you are prepared you can't cheat. Also drinking tons of water is a must. I would also suggest weighing you food with a digital scale much more accurate then measuring cups.

Good Luck!

Hi all....just joined Medifast last Wednesday. Doing pretty good at sticking to plan. Having a hard time with the "no bread" portion of this though. I thought giving up my cream and sugar in my coffee would be the hardest, but I guess I was wrong. Anyways, I have 100+ pounds to lose. I feel like if the weight comes off steadily I will be able to stick to this. Any advice for this newbie?

Hi Everyone,
I am once again starting a medifast journey. Last time was 5 years ago and I lost over 60 pounds, unfortnately my love for food did not keep it off. I am back on the program and was sad to see the boards/community gone on the medifast site. I am hoping I can find the support I need here. I am looking forward to starting this journey with all of you. I still have to figure out how to post a pic, etc. first time on spark people too. Everything in time... Hope you all are having a wonderful day!

Well...the focus on me kind of worked....but it is to easy to go off track in social situations. Had been looking at Optifast program at a local medical clinic. I had a friend who had a lot success with this....lost over 100 lbs and has kept it off. However, it had liquid diet for 6 wks to 3 months, was time intensive with clinic visits, and was very expensive. Saw Medifast ad online. No cost for program, limited calories (1000 - 1100) - potential for quicker weight loss, can use pre-packaged foods for convenience (eliminates measuring), can eat regular food at all meals: fruit, yogurt, chicken breast, fish, lean meat, raw and steamed veggies, and skim milk. Was also encouraged that there is a Medifast group on Spark People. This is my third day....good start...eating 6 times a day. This helps the hunger and cravings. Sticking with prepackaged food right now to control portions easily and adjust to lower calorie intake. Research is somewhat mixed....but it seemed to address many of my "issues." Wish me luck!

Hi guys!

I was trying to find a forum for TSFL/Medifast beginners and posted the following on the 3fatchicks website but it looks like there are more posters here on this forum.

I really like the idea of posting and reading other peoples journeys because it helps stay motivated and accountable so I am definitely willing to post when I have spare time and also exchange recipe ideas because I am a foodie - I have already read some great recipe ideas online. I am going to post my stuff on Instagram under my account name Porcelina_ts (please follow me if you have instagram - I will follow you back!)

I just started the TSFL/Medifast 5+1 program yesterday (Sep 16). I really had a easy time on day 1. I weighed myself the morning I started, and this morning and have already lost 4 pounds in 1 day! My start weight is 297 and I am down to 293. My short term goal was to get to 277 within 4 weeks but this may happen faster than I thought so depending on how things go after week 1 I may have to adjust that.

The lowest weight I have been in the past 10 years is probably around 265-270 which was after a gallbladder removal surgery about 2.5 years ago. I had been around 320 in 2011 which was the first time I ever weighed myself as an adult and I had already lost some weight so not sure what I had been before that. In 2012 I got down to about 285 and hovered there a while until that surgery when I got down to around 265-270 (due to an all liquid diet for 2 weeks). But I soon gained all that weight back, plus a little more. I have been hovering around 295 for the past year.

I am someone who tends to binge eat like 1x per day. I am usually someone that skips breakfast, lunch (I might have a protein shake once during that timeframe) and then binge at dinner time because I am super hungry, then have a late night sweet snack - I have a bad sweet tooth. I think this program will help me to obviously control what I'm eating but also get that habit of eating 5 small meals per day. I never eat fast food, don't drink soda and always drink water anyway so this program isn't really overwhelming me or making me feel in total shock lol.

I really like the food I have tried so far and I could see myself eating these things a long time as my small meals because I like to just grab and go and this program's food really supports that idea. I haven't tasted anything I absolutely hate yet but I was very careful when selecting food in my first order - I basically did some research online to see what everyone on this program liked or didn't like. If you haven't tried any of the OPTAVIA products yet, I definitely recommend - they are really yummy and good quality!!

I'm not new to SP, but new to TSFL. I was so excited to find a group that is on the Medifast healthy eating plan. I sarted MF 6 days ago, so my first weigh in is Friday. I am so glad it's almost here. I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to stepping on a set of scales. I've been so worried about the plan not working for me, like it has for so many I have read about in success stories. I want to weigh, see that it IS working for me, then I can relax and look forward to becoming healthy. The only person standing in my way is me, and I have made up my mind to get out of my way!! My weight loss wagon is moving on down the road to the goal I see WAYYYYYYYYYYYY, WAYYYYYYY up there. I WILL get there!!

Welcome to the Newbies I see have joined recently, I look forward to adding my voice in the cheering section, cheering everyone on to their goal of being healthy.

20 pounds in 17 days is awesome. I know if you stick to the MF program, you"ll reach your goal. I've been reading success stories today about people who reached goal on MF. My conclusion is "it works if you work the program". I look forward to seeing you continue to melt away. Keep on, keeping on!!

Hi everyone, I'm SweetEpiphany and I started Take Shape for Life / Medifast on June 13. I have been a long time member on SparkPeople but I gained a ton of weight. I restarted my weight loss journey at 365 lbs. I'm 5'9 tall so that helps a little but I still look huge. Thankfully I don't have any serious health problems at this weight. A little while ago I found out that I was borderline pre-diabetic and that woke me up to the reality that I've been taking my health for granted and need to make a serious change. All of that led me to look into Medifast. There are no Medifast centers close to me, so I joined TSFL instead, which as you all know uses the Medifast foods.

Since starting TSFL I've already lost 20 lbs. Insane, I know! Well, needless to say seeing the weight drop in 17 days has kept me super motivated to stay on this plan and make the best of this great opportunity to lose weight in a healthy way. I like the food and have not cheated at all, which is a big accomplishment for me. I'm so happy that there is a Medifast Team on SP. I need as much help as I can get in addition to my TSFL coach.

The victory of success is half won when one gains the habit of setting goals and achieving them. Even the most tedious chore will become endurable as you parade through each day convinced that every task, no matter how menial or boring, brings you closer to fulfilling your dreams.

Hi! Kelly here. I've done Medifast before with success but only half way to goal. Then let work take over my life for 4 years. I'm back and on plan. Ready to lose again! :). Let's see.... Live in Houston, MF seems to work for me, loved the old Medifast boards till they hosed the website there. I know that doing this together is the best way! Ok if I join y'all?

Hey Carrie! I started last Tuesday. Had a good week, some ups and downs, but stuck to the plan, made it through mothers day and teacher appreciation week, and am excited. Will be eager to hear how your first week goes. I am not on spark every day, but will be checking back hoping to see a note from you!

The belief that everything should be done perfectly or not at all is the enemy of consistency and momentum.

Hello! My daughter and I began Medifast last Tuesday. Thank goodness she had time to keep us on track with the lean and green, as I was busy with my mom who had just come home from the hospital. I am doing ok, the week days were easier than today, Sat, because I am so busy at work, but am sticking with it.

The belief that everything should be done perfectly or not at all is the enemy of consistency and momentum.

Good evening! I'm wrapping up my first week on Medifast tonight. So far, so good - except for the Calorie Burn Cappuccino. :p. Any suggestions on that one? I'm excited to see where the scale will be tomorrow morning. I've been up and down a bit all week. My goal is to lose about 30 pounds. Happy Friday!

Hi, my name is Holly. I started Medifast last weekend, so I am one week in. I've been lurking this past week, reading some threads I found through Google, and decided I should join and give/get support.

I've been overweight my whole life. I've seen myself in pictures and age 5 or 6 and I wasn't overweight yet, but I don't remember what that was like. :) I've tried a lot of things throughout the years, but I've never made it to the goal. I think this is the first diet I've ever done where I didn't cheat once during the first week! I'm definitely a carb addict, and knowing that cheating will kick me out of fat-burning is a powerful motivator.

I'm excited to be in this group.

My name is Bonnie and I'm new here. On day 2 of Medifast. So far so good. I have always been able t loose weight with diet and exercise until I hit 50. From the age of 47, I began putting on the pounds and now I'm looking to loose 40-50lbs. I know that I can commit to the plan. However I worry that I will gain it back. One thing at a time I guess

Hi Nicole, welcome! emoticon

I think the low calorie freaked me out at first but I soon realized it was enough to sustain me. It was healthy food and as long as your following the proper lean and green that's even better. It's amazing how well our bodies respond to eating every 2-3 hours, I think that is key to maintaining your metabolism and blood sugar levels.

Hi. I'm Nicole and I'm new to Medifast. I just finished week one and lost 6.5 lbs. I have tried many diets before and really like how easy Medifast is--just grab a meal and go, without having to count points and all that.

My biggest concern with the plan is that the calories are so low for my weight. I have about 100lbs to lose and I hope I am not messing up my metabolism (what little of it I have) by eating so little. The cravings have started to go away and surprisingly, I am not overly hungry. I really hope it works and I can make a true, long lasting lifestyle change.

Hi! My name is Catherine and I'm just finishing my first week on the 5 & 1 plan. This is my second go around with Medifast. First time was back in 2014. I lost close to 50 lbs and was so happy. Unfortunately I didn't do a great job of following the maintenance plan. I got cocky and didn't think I needed to pay such close attention to my eating. I was wrong. 100% committed to doing it right this time.

Welcome Issacsgirl! emoticon Glad to have you here. Join us in the daily chat thread (it's Jan 2016 now but we create a new one for each month) to talk about everyday stuff, this lifestyle change, etc. There are other threads that have helpful hints, ideas, etc. and a monthly thread to post your weekly losses too. We don't have a post per se of success stories, maybe we should create that one too? :)

Hi I'm Jessica and I'm on day 2 of the 5 &1 plan. My family has had a really rough couple of years and I completely quit taking care of myself. I am doing something for ME for a change and that alone feels really good. I hope I start seeing results quick because that will motivate me to keep going :) I would love to hear about everyone's progress and success stories, is there a place in here where people post those? Good luck to all of you!

Hi everyone-
I am new to medifast. My name is Jen. This is day 6 for me. I have found a great love affair has started with my toilet. ( I am just using it a lot P). I haven't had many problems in up to now. I am finding it hard to stick to the diet while everyone around me is eating. Stuck 100% OP so far. It is just harder then I thought. I think I may be a bit of a "Winer" so far. I really need an extra push every once in a while. Congratulations to everyone who has been successful or beginning so far. emoticon

Hi Everyone! I'm back OP as of today, too! I'm ready to lose these last 20 pounds. I want my Size 10's to feel more comfortable and then move to Size 8's. I want to feel and be healthy. I want to feel confident about my body when I go to Cancun for Christmas! I want to be a positive role model for my daughter.

I struggle with evening/ night time eating. I stay OP all day and then when I get home sometimes I lose my focus. I grab a glass of wine and then slip a bite of this and a bite of that and before I know it I'm regretting my choices the next morning.

Today I'm working on just making sure I stick exactly to the 5 and 1 and drink 80 ounces of water.

Good luck to everyone else on their journey!!

Hello---I'm writing to introduce myself. It sounds like a very supportive group and it's a bit reassuring that I'm not the only one who lost very successfully with Medifast and unfortunately regained it back. I've also had a couple of false starts where I wasn't as committed to the program as I was the first time.

I'm just a few days in and I feel kind of flu-icky, so please remind me... I think the first week or two can be a little rough.

Anyhow, I'm trying to really keep up with my water and this time, it will be by the book! Good luck to all and for those of you who are successfully maintaining, I tip my hat to you. Congratulations!

Hi everyone! I'm starting Medifast again after a three year hiatus. I lost about 35 pounds before and gained it all back plus some after completely neglecting my health.

I am looking forward to amazing results and seeing everyone's before and after pictures!
