Hi everyone, I'm SweetEpiphany and I started Take Shape for Life / Medifast on June 13. I have been a long time member on SparkPeople but I gained a ton of weight. I restarted my weight loss journey at 365 lbs. I'm 5'9 tall so that helps a little but I still look huge. Thankfully I don't have any serious health problems at this weight. A little while ago I found out that I was borderline pre-diabetic and that woke me up to the reality that I've been taking my health for granted and need to make a serious change. All of that led me to look into Medifast. There are no Medifast centers close to me, so I joined TSFL instead, which as you all know uses the Medifast foods.

Since starting TSFL I've already lost 20 lbs. Insane, I know! Well, needless to say seeing the weight drop in 17 days has kept me super motivated to stay on this plan and make the best of this great opportunity to lose weight in a healthy way. I like the food and have not cheated at all, which is a big accomplishment for me. I'm so happy that there is a Medifast Team on SP. I need as much help as I can get in addition to my TSFL coach.

The victory of success is half won when one gains the habit of setting goals and achieving them. Even the most tedious chore will become endurable as you parade through each day convinced that every task, no matter how menial or boring, brings you closer to fulfilling your dreams.

Hi there! My husband and I just began the Medifast journey last Monday. I only have 30 pounds to lose so I know that I will not be a fast loser. I hope the Lord gives me strength to continue to stay on track. Week 1 was a success. I am down 4.1 pounds! :)

Hi! Kelly here. I've done Medifast before with success but only half way to goal. Then let work take over my life for 4 years. I'm back and on plan. Ready to lose again! :). Let's see.... Live in Houston, MF seems to work for me, loved the old Medifast boards till they hosed the website there. I know that doing this together is the best way! Ok if I join y'all?

Hey Carrie! I started last Tuesday. Had a good week, some ups and downs, but stuck to the plan, made it through mothers day and teacher appreciation week, and am excited. Will be eager to hear how your first week goes. I am not on spark every day, but will be checking back hoping to see a note from you!

Hello! My daughter and I began Medifast last Tuesday. Thank goodness she had time to keep us on track with the lean and green, as I was busy with my mom who had just come home from the hospital. I am doing ok, the week days were easier than today, Sat, because I am so busy at work, but am sticking with it.

Good evening! I'm wrapping up my first week on Medifast tonight. So far, so good - except for the Calorie Burn Cappuccino. :p. Any suggestions on that one? I'm excited to see where the scale will be tomorrow morning. I've been up and down a bit all week. My goal is to lose about 30 pounds. Happy Friday!

Hi, my name is Holly. I started Medifast last weekend, so I am one week in. I've been lurking this past week, reading some threads I found through Google, and decided I should join and give/get support.

I've been overweight my whole life. I've seen myself in pictures and age 5 or 6 and I wasn't overweight yet, but I don't remember what that was like. :) I've tried a lot of things throughout the years, but I've never made it to the goal. I think this is the first diet I've ever done where I didn't cheat once during the first week! I'm definitely a carb addict, and knowing that cheating will kick me out of fat-burning is a powerful motivator.

I'm excited to be in this group.

My name is Bonnie and I'm new here. On day 2 of Medifast. So far so good. I have always been able t loose weight with diet and exercise until I hit 50. From the age of 47, I began putting on the pounds and now I'm looking to loose 40-50lbs. I know that I can commit to the plan. However I worry that I will gain it back. One thing at a time I guess

Hi Nicole, welcome! emoticon

I think the low calorie freaked me out at first but I soon realized it was enough to sustain me. It was healthy food and as long as your following the proper lean and green that's even better. It's amazing how well our bodies respond to eating every 2-3 hours, I think that is key to maintaining your metabolism and blood sugar levels.

Hi. I'm Nicole and I'm new to Medifast. I just finished week one and lost 6.5 lbs. I have tried many diets before and really like how easy Medifast is--just grab a meal and go, without having to count points and all that.

My biggest concern with the plan is that the calories are so low for my weight. I have about 100lbs to lose and I hope I am not messing up my metabolism (what little of it I have) by eating so little. The cravings have started to go away and surprisingly, I am not overly hungry. I really hope it works and I can make a true, long lasting lifestyle change.

Hi! My name is Catherine and I'm just finishing my first week on the 5 & 1 plan. This is my second go around with Medifast. First time was back in 2014. I lost close to 50 lbs and was so happy. Unfortunately I didn't do a great job of following the maintenance plan. I got cocky and didn't think I needed to pay such close attention to my eating. I was wrong. 100% committed to doing it right this time.

Join us in the daily chat thread (it's Jan 2016 now but we create a new one for each month) to talk about everyday stuff, this lifestyle change, etc. There are other threads that have helpful hints, ideas, etc. and a monthly thread to post your weekly losses too. We don't have a post per se of success stories, maybe we should create that one too? :)

Hi I'm Jessica and I'm on day 2 of the 5 &1 plan. My family has had a really rough couple of years and I completely quit taking care of myself. I am doing something for ME for a change and that alone feels really good. I hope I start seeing results quick because that will motivate me to keep going :) I would love to hear about everyone's progress and success stories, is there a place in here where people post those? Good luck to all of you!

Hi everyone-
I am new to medifast. My name is Jen. This is day 6 for me. I have found a great love affair has started with my toilet. ( I am just using it a lot P). I haven't had many problems in up to now. I am finding it hard to stick to the diet while everyone around me is eating. Stuck 100% OP so far. It is just harder then I thought. I think I may be a bit of a "Winer" so far. I really need an extra push every once in a while. Congratulations to everyone who has been successful or beginning so far. emoticon

Hi Everyone! I'm back OP as of today, too! I'm ready to lose these last 20 pounds. I want my Size 10's to feel more comfortable and then move to Size 8's. I want to feel and be healthy. I want to feel confident about my body when I go to Cancun for Christmas! I want to be a positive role model for my daughter.

I struggle with evening/ night time eating. I stay OP all day and then when I get home sometimes I lose my focus. I grab a glass of wine and then slip a bite of this and a bite of that and before I know it I'm regretting my choices the next morning.

Today I'm working on just making sure I stick exactly to the 5 and 1 and drink 80 ounces of water.

Good luck to everyone else on their journey!!

Hello---I'm writing to introduce myself. It sounds like a very supportive group and it's a bit reassuring that I'm not the only one who lost very successfully with Medifast and unfortunately regained it back. I've also had a couple of false starts where I wasn't as committed to the program as I was the first time.

I'm just a few days in and I feel kind of flu-icky, so please remind me... I think the first week or two can be a little rough.

Anyhow, I'm trying to really keep up with my water and this time, it will be by the book! Good luck to all and for those of you who are successfully maintaining, I tip my hat to you. Congratulations!

Hi everyone! I'm starting Medifast again after a three year hiatus. I lost about 35 pounds before and gained it all back plus some after completely neglecting my health.

I am looking forward to amazing results and seeing everyone's before and after pictures!

Hello! I started Medifast a couple of weeks ago. I'm excited to see how much I can lose and to meet everyone. I've been reading as much about the program as I can from websites and by following folks on Instagram and Pinterest who are following this diet...lifestyle (not really sure which term is correct.) I look forward to hopefully interacting with you all more and learning more about everyone!

I guess I should have introduced myself here. My name is Sara, I'm married and have two kiddos :). I lost close to 80 pounds on my own back in 2011. I was the smallest I've ever been at a size 4. But since then, I have put it all back on :( I just needed help this time as I felt like I couldn't do it all on my own again. So, that's why I'm trying MF. I've been on MF for a week and 3 days now and its gotten a little easier...the first few days was rough. I lost 6.4 pounds the first week. Looking forward to getting the weight off again.

I know it can seem overwhelming at first, but take some time to read all the information. I have a list of helpful resources here (I'll post the link below) that will help you. Reading Dr. A's book Habits for Health is something everyone needs to read, and it goes along with this program beautifully, and after too. For now make your dinners easy, cook up some boneless, skinless chicken breast, and add a salad or veggies on the low carb end like cauliflower, broccoli, etc. Make sure you weigh your food, and for meat it's cooked size they are referring to btw. It's so helpful to know how much you can have because you will be surprised how much lean and green you can really have. :)

I've ordered my food through my coach, and should be starting this weekend! I'm so excited. I've put on weight the last few years, and am now at my heaviest - even heavier than when I was 9 months pregnant.

I am still too scared to weight myself. Will do that tomorrow (tomorrow, tomorrow...)

Hi This is my second time around..The first time I lost 40 lbs. and was very content with the
outcome..but I moved to an independent living house and the stress plus the move caused me to eat fast foods; on the run; etc. etc. No excuse, but I am going to try once again. I Started Sept 1 and have lost only 6.6 lbs. but I am trying...I am happy with the loss and I will continue the program until I reach my goal ... Any advice is welcome.

Keep the faith..... I can do this...

Hi, my name is Tracy and I am on day 4. I came to the point that most diets were too easy for me to cheat on. I really need to change my habits and my relationship with food. I think by limiting what I prepare for myself I can start to learn how to make better choices. I have noticed a sharp decrease in my cravings and what seemed like an unstoppable appetite. I am going to take this a day at a time.

Hi Everyone!
I lost 60 lbs initially on Medifast, but have regained 25 over the last couple of years. My biggest challenge is a big appetite along with an intolerance for hunger! I get nervous when I'm hungry! I've used Medifast sporadically to try to control the weight gain, but now will be going back to 5-1 plan.

My first time around, the key to my success was the community support that used to be available on the Medifast site. I actually made a close friend through that group. I know that I can't do this alone! I'm still trying to figure out how to negotiate myself around this site. For example, I can't figure out how to set up the weight tracker. Anybody?

I appreciate that you all are here. There are other websites where you get criticized for using a program like Medifast instead of "real food." I say, do whatever works for you. The important thing is that we get healthy, and Medifast certainly helped me with that. By the time I'd lost the weight, I had normal blood sugars and no longer needed cholesterol or blood pressure meds. The seems like success to me!

Hi everyone!

My name is Jeanette and this is my second round of Medifast. I did the program in 2009 and dropped 40lbs, but after starting a new job and the MANY, MANY company lunches, and after work happy hours I gained it all back plus a few.

I just turned 31 and am now ready to take control of my weight forever. I have been overweight since I was probably 6 or so, and a lot of that came from learning bad food habits from my parents. But I haven't lived at home for 16 years, so I can really only hold myself accountable now. And above all I refuse to teach my 2 year old bad eating habits. So, I've reset myself and am REALLY looking forward to meeting the new healthier Jeanette.

I've been on plan (well kinda) for two weeks as of today. My birthday was the weekend before last so I did not make good decisions for 3 days, but have been sticking to it since. I'm down 6lbs... definitely could have been more of a loss had I been more disciplined.

I'm running my second half marathon in October, so right now I'm on the 5&1 4 days a week, and 4&2 on the three days that I have my longer 6+ miles runs, so I know my progress will be slower... but it's not just about being skinny, it's being healthier overall. I am shooting for 70-75lbs loss according to my body fat scan. I'm meeting with a counselor at a MF clinic weekly to hold myself more accountable. It is PRICEY! but that extreme expense has made me stay on track when I would have otherwise thrown in the towel.

I have an awesome, supportive but naturally-thin husband, and I have chosen this time not to tell him I'm doing Medifast. I'm just tired of telling him of new latest and greatest diet I'm on and then not following through. But I'm really excited for him to start noticing the results. And it's been easy to just cook my lean and green and share the same meal with him and my son, but just give them a serving of carbs.

I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone better and being a vital asset to each others weight loss journeys through support. I stalked this page for 2 weeks until I finally decided to join.

Thanks everyone!

Hi, I am brand new here and new to Medifast. I went to a clinic in the city I live in on Wednesday of last week and began my diet on Thursday. Its wonderful to read the success stories, there are so many motivational stories here. It gives me hope. I am still trying to figure out how to navigate through Spark People. I am excited to start on my journey of becoming a better version of myself and live a healthy life. 😀😀

Hi everyone,

My MF is going to arrive today, so I figured I would go ahead and get registered somewhere so I can give and receive assistance from like-minded people. I've done MF before and had great success. Like the majority of people with lifelong weight issues, I enjoyed the smaller body for a few years and then whooooops...take illness and injuries and mix with old bad habits, and the next thing you know, blimpo all over again.

So here we are today, I'm still in physical therapy for some pretty nasty back issues and I'm tired of waiting on getting better for me to start losing weight. Even though my husband introduced me to MF years ago, he's not really thrilled that I decided to go this route again. He feels we can lose weight together via a more typical approach, but I've been hearing that song and dance for months now and nobody's lost anything but time around here. (I think I just heard UPS pull up, yay!)

Anyways, here's to another successful round of MF. I look forward to making new friends on this leg of the journey. Cheers!

Hi, I am Lisa - Just started MF yesterday - same story as most - lots to lose, tried everything - nothing worked - have a friend that did really well with MF and said she found it easy - so am jumping in!! Yesterday was first day. It went fine, food was ok (not great) some better than others - but wasn't expecting gourmet - so wasn't surprised. Didn't car for the caramel crunch bar - salty and didn't like the consistency as I ate it (crunch was fine - it was what happens as you start chewing). BBQ crunchers were so/so, but loved that I could "snack" on them as worked at my desk - so that was a plus. Peanut Butter soft serve was good, not real sweet, but I enjoyed it. The Veggie Chili was my fav of the day - I added 1/2 cup of rotel to it and a dash of tabasco - thought it was good! Got my 8 glasses of water in and had a nice L&G meal with my family - grilled chicken and steamed broccoli. Added a pat of butter to broccoli.

so first day was fine - nothing remarkable - did notice that mid-day I got alittle hungry, which is why I added rotel to chili and that seemed to help a lot - think it was a volume thing!!

Today is about the same. Had Cinnamon/BS cereal - it was so/so, but again liked the snacking ability when eating it dry. Had Sloppy Joe for lunch, with Rotel again - and that was good.

I take Synthroid, so trying to figure out best time to take it - took it yesterday morning - but had to wait awhile to eat anything, so today am going to take it this evening when I go to bed- and make sure its been 3 hours since I ate.... want to see if that works better....

Hi, I'm not an expert, because I'm starting the plan on Monday. My sister went to a center, which she was happy with, but there was a joining fee of several hundred dollars. OTOH she got bloodwork done, used a DXA machine or something similar, and got other helpful information. My SIL is a TSFL coach, so my husband and I are going through her. No joining fee and she's worked out how to do the program as inexpensively as possible, but no medical advice either. We already get annual physicals, though, so I'm not too worried about possible health issues.

I'm thinking of starting MF ....(oy vey)...again...and really wondering about the new programs. Does anyone have any experience with the newer programs or going to a Center vs. TSFL vs. Direct?

HI! I just placed my first order for the food. I am in my 50s now. Weight Watchers worked well in my 20s and 30s. But then I couldn't seem to make it work. I was hungry -- starving -- all the time. I hope this system works. I am shooting to lose 20 pounds.

Hello all,re- committing to Medifast after a 3 year break. Lost 45 lbs in 2012 and gained it back due to my fault. SW 194 and CW 184. Started July 22,2015 and have lost 10 lbs already. Had one slip up with a handful of trail mix but felt so guilty. Staying on track and hopefully will be at my GW of 145 soon. Glad you all are here!

So many of you (Beachnap and more) have similar stories to mine. Lost a good amount of weight, didn't reach goal, tried again, etc.

On TSFL I lost 30 the first time around and never reached my end goal. I really liked the plan - just got lazy/cheated when I got down to the very high end of my "normal" BMI.

I have been on and off TSFL for more than a year. Good for days at a time - then getting off of it for a week, etc. Never could properly do it. Tomorrow I am restarting like it is my first time on it again and am committed to following it 100%. So to keep me honest - I am posting here and starting a blog.

Fingers crossed. grabalifepreserver.com

Thanks! Only about 25 lbs after doing some "on my own" dieting. I knew that the last few needed a more serious program to succeed.

Hi everyone! I'm glad I found an active MF group online and hope to check in here regularly.

I had a lot of success on MF in 2013, lost over 70 pounds in 10 months, reaching a weight of 155. My highest weight was over 260, lost 35 in a year (pre-MF), then started MF in 2013. I love the MF plan, esp. the fast results and I'm not only referring to weight loss. Within a couple of weeks of starting, I had ZERO carb cravings, a better outlook, tons of energy, slept better, less aches and pains, etc.

I've been struggling since 2013, never reached my goal and have yo-yo'd 25 pounds at least 3x since, using MF off and on since but never staying on plan more than 3 weeks. I usually quit around day 3-4. Anyway, hoping to restart soon, stick with it, reach goal and MAINTAIN!!

Welcome GLC! emoticon Ten isn't too bad, but like you said, it's good to head it off now before it could get out of control. I'm in the maintenance phase and just learning how to do that, so it's always a concern with me too. Good luck! emoticon

Hey, everyone! I started Medifast about 3 weeks ago and have lost about 14 lbs so far. This looks like a great support group and I'm excited to see other people's successes.

Welcome, Tama! So glad you joined us! When I rec'd my first shipment, I wasn't happy with most of the food. But I soon found my favorites. In fact, I think I'll make MF part of my life long term (even after transitioning). I can see having some bars or bakes around for quick meals.

Congrats on your success over the last 8 weeks. It's awesome! emoticon

Hi everyone,

I've been on the Medifast/TSFL plan now for 8 weeks, but just joining this team. I'm very happy with the plan - down 20.5 pounds since I've been eating the food (plus 5 from the two weeks before I started). The first few days, really hated the food - left a weird taste in my mouth. But, now I actually look forward to it and if I eat according to plan, I'm surprisingly not hungry. I have a ways to go, but quite encouraged with how Medifast if working for me. Looking forward to encouraging and being encouraged by you all!

Welcome, Dhiapet! You will not regret your decision to do MF! I love the plan.

Yes, it gets hard at times but that's when I come to the group and get much encouragement and support!

Welcome!

Hi, I am excited and so READY to start this program. I just ordered my first package today after meeting someone who lost 30 pounds doing it - I had never heard of it before. I started looking for a support group online to help keep me accountable, and even tried to start one myself on myfitnesspal, and everyone had negative feedback. I am glad to find a forum of supportive, positive people going on the same journey, so thank you to everyone for creating this safe haven.

Hi all! I'm s glad I found this group, I have been doing MF for 1 week and have done pretty well at staying OP, with 14 lbs lost already. It is a little freaky, but I will take it. I love seeing what everyone does to stay motivated and learning which mistakes to avoid. Thank!
