Ashley, I am so glad you are determined to do this. That's the biggest hurdle - convincing yourself you WILL do this. And forget about family. There might be a little jealousy, but more than likely they just see you as perfect the way you are. Also, maybe they feel "partly" responsible for your former unhealthy eating habits, but don't want to admit it. Whatever, just tell them that NO MATTER what they say, you are doing this and they just need to support you and get over whatever it is that is keeping them from supporting you. Best of luck with that. Parents don't like to be given ultimatums. :-) And if you ever need another pep talk, you know where to find me.

Laura thank you for the first pep talk. I understand the bad knees and back. Im not sure if it was the meds i was recently on for the bronchitis but I do know that EVERY joint (knees, ankles, elbows, wrists, all of them) have been hurting. I also think it could be the weight. I have struggled with weight problems all my life and had finally gotten to the size I needed right before I graduated high school. That was soon lost though because I got pregnant and had gestational diabetes. No matter how healthy I ate the weight just went on. I have tried so many things over the last 4 years and its been hard. Especially when my family (mom, grandma) aren't supportive. They always try to make fun of the fact that I want to get in shape. Maybe its jealousy, i don't know.
Im going to be able to do it this time. Especially with the pep talks.

Hi Ashley, my name is Laura. If you want, we can be each other's diet partner. I just joined Thursday July 5, and I have never been on Spark People. So I also need help and encouragement. My friends tell me I am really good at giving advice and pep talks. Here's your first one: I am 58, have a bad neck and 2 bad knees, and have lost 2 pounds just since joining SP. You're soon to be 25 (BTW Happy Birthday!) and want to lose weight, so you've made progress right there. If I can do it you can. Make losing a fun time with your daughter. She won't care if you call it exercise as long as you are doing it with her. Call it "bonding time", or whatever.
We can give encouragement & pep talks to each other whenever you need. Just having someone to "talk" to on a reguar basis will help a lot. I plan to try to be on here at least once a day.

Hey everyone! My name is Ashley. I have been on SparkPeople.com multiple times and always give up because I just don't get the help I need.
Hopefully this time around, that will change. Anyways, a bit about me :)
I am 24 on Tuesday July 10th, I will be 25. I weigh 230.6 pounds (Just found this out when I had to go to the doctor for bronchitis last week) I have a wonderful 4 almost 5 year daughter (who her doctor told me she was over weight as well - talk about tears and feeling like the worst parent ever!) I am engaged to a wonderful man and my daughters father (Who is also over weight but in the last 2 weeks he has lost 15lbs - I'm jealous) I am a full time working mom. The Fiance is a stay at home dad - and this works out ok for both of us.
