Hi all, I'm Judy and am new to the team and I am looking forward to giving and receiving support in our get healthy and fit journey!! I'm 43 years old married with 4 adult children and I need to lose 60 lbs. Just saying that makes me cringe, that's a whole child. The past 8 months have been pretty rough for me and my family, my divorced parents have been ill and the stress of trying to help out between the two in two different homes and still have quality time with my hubby has really been bringing the weight on. My mom had a mastectomy in October followed by a dementia diagnosis in February. In the meantime my father caught pneumonia in November, followed by a sepsis infection in January and has been bedridden since then. I'll be no good to anyone if I don't take care of myself, so here I am! Had a physical a couple of weeks ago and was very embarrassed by the scale. I will have my follow up in 2 weeks, no phone call yet so hopeful that all labs were good and I just need to lose this weight to keep myself in good health. So far I've been doing the meal plans and working at sticking to my goals, next week I'm going to add a daily walk. Well that's enough about me, thanks for having me.

Over the last 10 years I've gained 127 lbs and now it's time for me to reclaim my body
in the healthiest way I can. I've struggled to lose the weight and would drop a few pounds
only to regain them plus a few extra pounds. But since Sept. 2014 I've been working to
help my hubby lose necessary pounds so his heart function will improve and although
I worked towards my own goals, it was never 100%. But since June 20th I've taken back control
of my own body and will be working to drop the weight I need to lose to be at my
healthiest. My goals are to be 220 lbs. or less by Jan. 1-2016; 180 lbs. or less by my 60th birthday
on Aug. 20-2016; and 140 lbs. by my 61st birthday on Aug. 20-2017.
If between now and then if I decide I've reached a size I know I can be comfortable
with for the rest of my life, then I'll work to maintain it instead of going lower.
I'm going to work to get in as much fruit and veggies as possible on a daily basis, and
really work to cut back on processed foods as much as possible.
Due to fluid retention, I need to try to keep my sodium under 1500 grams
as much as possible daily. This will be hard for me as I'm a salt-a-holic, but it has to
be done.
I will be working hard to get in as much exercise daily as I can. Some days I won't be able
to do a lot due to RA of the spine as well as sciatica, but I'll do as much as I can daily.

I have been a watcher and a listener for a while now. Children, home, work all keep me busy. I was never very social. It takes time, effort, and courage. None of which I had much of. Being a single mom and sole provider was my excuse for being to "tired" to get involved or look past immediate tasks. I see how you all bolster each other and I think I'd like to get on that - 5 minutes at a time.

Every day is a challenge reached just to keep doing what needs doing. I win that.

Hi everyone. I am new at this so bare with me. I am trying to lose 60 lbs. I am not very active since I've had my knees replaced a few years ago. I am trying to be healthier in my lifestyle. I am watching my calories and have lost 9 lbs so far. I started riding my stationary bike again. When the weather warms up I want to start walking my dog.
I have a very hard time motivating myself to do any exercises. This makes me feel bad about myself, and then I think @ eating. Does anyone have any ideas?
I wish losing weight was as easy as putting the pounds on! Any help is appreciated

Hi All,

My name is Maria, but my nickname is ReRe (it's pronouned Reeeee Reeeee). It's been my nickname since I was a toddler, thanks to a cousin my age, who couldn't say my name.

I'm looking forward to the daily challenges, as I've had a difficult time developing any type of exercise plan. I'm a caregiver to my adult daughter, who is chronically ill, and my dad, who is 90 and has dementia. We all live together and a lot of my time is taken up with their needs. My biggest challenge is making time for myself. I'm hoping, by committing to 5 minutes daily, I'll manage some type of consistency.

But, how does it work? Where do I find the daily challenges?

I am new to the 5 min challenge but not to SP. I was reading some of the post and I stopped at this one asking for help to get unstuck by SandyJean. Well Sandy I was were you were a few months ago. I and I needed the motivation to get off the couch/out the bed to get this thing working. Well I am going into my third month of physical fitness and eating right. It has been a hard transition but I have been on track and I like what I am seeing.

I am a 53 yr old woman and I my metabolism is really slow but I have lost about 10 lbs just by thinking about what goes in my body and becoming active. One thing that I love to do now is workout. I have found workout videos on YouTube that are great. If you just start with 10 minutes a day ( in the morning) for about 2-3 weeks it will become a habit instead of a chore. I would suggest just walking a mile with the videos featuring Leslie Sandron. She does low impact walking that is not hard on the joints or the body. I love her. I do her daily along with some others. I just do 3 miles walking and then 10 minutes strength training or something like that.

I know that I am new here but I want to help when there is a need. You can get off the couch.. I know that you can. If you like we can become friends and be accountable for each other.

emoticon I'm not new to SP but I am to this team. I thought maybe I'd check things out and see what's going on around the block. I do need an exercise challenge to keep me motivated. This one seems easy enough yet is also enough to make sure that I don't slack off and just stay on SP and FB all day. I do get 2 walks in a day with our two toy poodles which are 0.9 miles around our park for each walk.

SANDYJEAN125, LOVE2MY3, SPARKLERDEB and others. I have been looking for a team that would motivate and encourage me throughout the process. Sadly, this team does not do it for me.

I enjoy the 5 minute challenges. But if you look at some of the posts...some are months old.
I am not sure why people join a team and do not particpate. It makes me very sad. I will do my best to encourage you where I can. But I do not expect a lot out of this team based on experience.

Hello. I'm new to the team here, but not new to Spark. I'm 22, single (as in unmarried, but I do have a boyfriend) unemployed and trying to get to a life where I feel good more often than not. I should have all the time in the world, but it seems like it slips by me so easily, so 5 minutes will be a small, but doable start for me!
