I have 101 lbs to lose and could use some support along the way. Since reaching my 50's it's been a real challenge to get any weight off. But I know with hard work and determination, I will lose all I need to lose to get back the body I know I have under all this fat.

Hello all!!! My name is Jodie. I just signed up to sparks and this team I am looking to stay motivated and stick with this. I have had trouble in the past with that. I always just gave up. I do not want to do that this time.

Hi Jackie, I just signed up for Spark yesterday and am learning to navigate. I"m 50, have two kids and used to be a professional but am now not good for much. I passed 200 for the first time since I was pregnant, and it's gotten me freaked out. I have arthritis and other orthopaedic issues that prevent lots of walking until I'm more fit. I also have ear problems that make swimming problematic -- And getting to a gym or pool? I've been working with depression for most of my life, and if I could just get out the door to the gym every day, I wouldn't need spark people.

Hi I'm Dany and just joined this Challenge today, should there be challenges listed daily? I have been looking over the site and it seems kind of sporadic....just want to make sure I'm not missing anything!!!

Hi I am Jackie
Looking for a team with this type of approach and here you are! I have mobility issues and long cardio exercises (i.e. walking) are a no no right now. Also, I finally have given up on gym memberships. It is a complete waste of money as I simply do not like going to the gym. And what happens is I just don't exercise because I do not like going to the gym.
So, it is great to have a team that utilizes online resources.
Oh, I am from Southern California, divorced and no children. My weight goal is not clearly defined in terms of pounds. My goal is to say good by forever to plus size clothing and to wear a size with one digit (i.e. 9, 8, 6).
I have been overweight so long, that it takes pictures to remind me of my thin days. I do know that the accountability to others (Spark People) has renewed by efforts to reach my goal.
I look forward to getting know everyone.

Hi, I'm Beni and new to the team. I read an article and joined SP in Aug. 2012 but didn't do anything with it. Sept. 17th I decided to get busy. I lost 19 lbs but early Dec. my M-I-L broke her hip. I would go to the hospital first thing in the morning and come home late at night. Eating was just grab and go. Then the holidays came, still being at the hospital my eating stayed the same only gaining 5 pounds. So I am at 14 lbs lost. Poor excuses? Yes. Could have stayed on track? Yes. Point is I didn't so I'm back to getting busy. Mom is home and doing well. I look forward to the challenges on the team but mostly in myself!

Hi! I'm new to the team but not SP, which I joined in Sept 2012. Another Spark Friend did an Spark Advent calendar in December, it was fun to do the exercise everyday that was in the calendar. Unfortunately I got sick about 1/2 way through and wasn't able to finish it, hoping nothing happens that I can't meet the challenge here.

Hello All,
I am new to SparkPeople and I was trying to find a team with challenge's I felt I could do. With a lot of weight to loss and a lot of things to work on I felt small steps were the way to go. After all they say, slow and steady - right?
So 5 minute's a day - with stuff for beginners - surely even I can do this I thought to myself. So here I am!

Been a member of Sparkpeople for 4 years...on and off....but never totally left. This Team 'sparked' my interest. I can always make time for a 5 minute challenge and this year 2013....I've decided it's all about small changes adding up to equal big change! I need something new to add to my routine which is very doable! I'm on the eastern shore of North Carolina....looking forward to a banner year!

Hi! My name is Holly. I am always looking to do something different. I don't like routine with fitness as I get very bored. I think this group will be great to "tell" me what to do. LOL.

I'm 56 years old and carried an extra 80-100 pounds around for about 20 years (since having kids). I lost 40 and have kept it off for over a year, but I'm having a hard time getting any further. I don't expect to ever lose all of it at my age, but I'd like to drop another 30, at least. I'm excited about this team and especially like that there are 2 challenges. I plan to do the easier one and try the harder each day.

Good afternoon everyone! I am new to SparkPeople, so I am excited to use this as another tool in my weight loss kit! I am currently 239 lbs with about 100 +/- lbs to lose. I have been in WW in the past and lost 60 lbs, but have since gained it all back. I am no longer participating in WW, but need some motivation to get and keep me on track. I recently had foot surgery so my activity has been very limited. If anyone has any good cardio ideas, I'm game! Thanks everyone for listening and Happy New Year!!

Welcome, Claire! We are here to help you, so however you choose to use the information is fine - no worries regarding disqualification! I often post multiple days' worth (today I'm going to post Friday and Saturday's), so you can do them whenever you can. It's understandable that you want to work your way into daily workouts - hopefully you will find as you go along that adding five minutes per day (other than Sunday) will become manageable for you.
Hope you have a great day!

Hello team! I'm very unfit, with NOOO strength. My exercise so far has consisted of just walking the dog, which is OK for certain leg muscles, but that's it. So I've decided I need to do some carefully set up strength training, and this team providing a Daily Challenge seemed to be the ideal place to go.
For starters, though, I want to make a couple of modifications to the programme, so if this disqualifies me from being a member, just let me know.
1. I live in England. According to my computer, you post the daily challenges at about 10 or 11 pm. As I don't want to do my strength training at midnight, I shall be doing the exercises a day "behind" - it's currently 11.30 am on Friday 30th November and I've just done Thursday's exercise!
2. As I'm only just starting up, I don't want to train every day. I did dumbbell squats on Wednesday and my legs are still stiff. Until I can get over a session by the next day, I'm just setting a target of three days a week, and will build up from there.
So that's me - I look forward to participating and to building up my commitment as I get stronger.
I have about 95 lbs to lose to reach my goal but am working on 5 lbs at a time. It sounds like losing 5 lbs is a lot more manageable than saying I need to lose 95 lbs. I lose weight very slowly and I yo-yo a lot, but I really want this weight off. I've tried a number of different plans but I think for me it's a matter of cutting calories but making the most of what calories I do allow myself. So I'm trying to eat more fresh produce and fruits, and limiting all the junk foods. I do eat meat but am working to cut out a good portion of that and limit it to mainly fish and chicken. My exercise is sporatic at the best. I'll go days and not do much then for a week or two go crazy with activities that are considered exercise. I need to get more into a regular routine of daily exercise that I enjoy doing.

Hi Chrissy, I can relate in some ways to what you've said. But there has to come a time when you dig deep into yourself and make that commiment in your heart that you will do whatever it takes to make a change. And it doesn't have to overwhelming at all!! For me, the time came when I decided I was going to do JUST ONE THING everyday that was a better choice. The smallest little decisions in your life can make a huge impact. Don't be discouraged, there is a way! You may have to find what you can do at home. There are the spark videos, internet videos, phone apps(or kindle) that have exercise routines for free!, or if you have a wii or an xbox with sports or dance. PLAN your food. just for one day with all the cheapest foods you can think of: eggs, soups, carl buddig meats, oatmeal, a piece of fruit, baby carrots with fat free sour cream mixed with lipton onion mix, sugar free jello. Buy a package of turkey burger for about 3.99 and divide it up into 3.5 to 4 ounce portions- freeze them and buy a pack of wheat buns or whatever is cheap-freeze them too and then whenever you crave that dollar menu burger- fix up your own burger with sauteed onions or mushrooms etc. and before you know it that value burger you use to get tastes gross!! Stick with it Chrissy, this place is going to be your best friend if you let it. Get out there, post on others pages, check out blogs, make your own blogs. Before you know it you have the most supportive group of people surrounding you than you have ever had!!

Hello. Well, I moved to Ohio in Aug 2011 from Hawaii. I was use to being active there, and eating alot better due to it being to expensive to eat out, not alot of places like here in Ohio, and I use to smoke cigs and I admit.. pot for for 5 years. Well, I moved to Ohio, Quit smoking both cold turkey, got used to the food here, gained 45 LBS QUICK. I live in a vary vary small apartment. In an old creepy area that I'm still not use to. I don't have anyone to walk with me, to help me feel more comfortable about my area so that I can walk alone. Its vary hard for me to get motivated when no one wants to work out with me. When I change something in my diet, I always gain 5 more lbs. Ive never felt like I do now, iv never been this none energized, the more I gain, the harder it is for me to get moving. I can be soooo energized to clean and cook, but its hard to work. I cant afford to eat all the fish and healthy food, its alot cheaper for me to eat a dollar menu some times lol, When I buy healthy food, it only last a week, then Im to broke. Im hoping this Team, or something can happen. I dream of winning the lottery so I can get lipo done lol, or a home I can move around in.

Hello, everyone!
Darlene is one of my Spark Buddies and I saw on my Friend Feed where she had joined and I didn't know what this group was about so I decided to check it out... I think it's a great idea to try some different exercises and to mix up your routine a bit!
My ball is somewhere up in the attic - I think! It may not be any good anymore but we'll see!
Have a great day!

Hi Darlene!! Awesome to have you:) Um, the only way I know to track these daily exercises is to go to your fitness tracker and click on "add strength training" and either scroll through or do a search for todays specific exercise. I usually do them as a "freebie" so maybe someone else has a better way? I also need to get a ball and some bands-it's on my Christmas list!! Hope your having a great weekend and Welcome to our group!! ~Lisa

Hey All, I'm Darlene. I'm 49, mother of 3, grandmother of 2. I'm new to this group, I think I like the way the exercises are done. 5 minutes is very doable even in addition to the videos etc I do. I do need someone to tell me how do I track these single exercises tho?? Tracking the videos or my treadmill time etc is easy with the links etc. Not sure how to track these single exercises tho. Can anyone tell me??
I do think I am going to have to go out and buy a couple things tho. I don't have an exercise ball and I see alot of the exercises use this. I've used one at the gym, but the gym is a 30 min drive away so I usually only go there on the days I am going to town anyway. I need a few more things for at home!!
I look forward to meeting you all and making some new friends!!

Hi everyone,
I had the good fortune of having JUST1THING visit my sparkpage blog today on about BUTTERFLIES and she left a comment, so naturally I went to visit her page and when I saw the STEPS and the touching and reality photos and read her blog today, it was so touching that I found myself getting emotional and before I knew it.... my eyes were watering.
THank you Just1THing for sharing your sparkpage with all of the sparkpeople.

HI My name is Erin and I just started using SP today. My goal is to lose about 10-15lbs and to run a 5k. Currently I am unable to train for the 5k as I broke my foot/toe 2 weeks ago. I am hoping I will be able to start training again in about 4 weeks. I am working on watching what and how much I eat and getting as much exercise as my foot will allow.

Hi, my name is Kim, and I've been here at SP since 1-3-11. I went from 178 to 153 in just a few months, but in June my dad was diagnosed with cancer and died on July 9 (2011) and I lost all of my motivation. I've gained back to 171 (as of this morning) and I am determined to lose this #*@%!+& weight. I know I need help and I feel that this team will be a pretty good fit for me. At least I hope it will. I look forward to meeting y'all.

Good morning. I just joined today and really like the idea of doing a 5 minute routine every day. I hope it will stretch me to try new things because I notice little sretch goals make me feel happy (-: I joined in February and have lost 22 lbs. Goal is to lose 5 more and I am chomping at the bit to reach my goal. I am so inspired by everyone in Spark who shows up every day to keep at it. I am liking living a more healthy life style. Now on to today's crunches with a twist...

to all the other newbies!
I just found this group. I figured having a challenge that's only 5 minutes might really be a great thing to keep me motivated. I figure we can all find 5 minutes to do something!
I have about 60 to 70 more pounds to release (have gotten rid of 35 pounds since March 26th, making a total of 93.5 lbs down from my top weight), and am determined to get it gone!!!

Hello! I'm mizzy and I wanted to give this team a shot. I mean, 5 minutes is not that bad and if it is, there's something wrong with me. So, what do you have to show me?

I just joined the team because I can't find the motivation to exercise. I thought if I started with just five minutes a day, I could build up to more eventually.

Hi I joined because I'm losing a bit of steam. I spent last week eating crap and shirking off my exercise after two good solid months! I like these small challenge teams so I'm excited to try 5 minute daily exercises! Seems very do-able.

Hi, I'm a 4+year sparker, been a bit up, a bit down, and a bit all 'round the town. This looks like a good-sized chunk of commitment for me at this point! It does look a bit hard to find the challenges--at least, I can't find today's, though I did find yesterday's.
Anyway, I'm glad you are here!
