Hi martie!! welcome to the team. we just don't wish you luck, but encourage you to continue doing what you are doing. Keep rotating your workouts, remember the body gets used to the same excercise, challenge it, either with more weights (ideally, and if possible) or more cardio. Good luck!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I've used Joyce's workout years ago and I was in my best shape ever. Of course, I got lazy and I am trying to get back in shape - and lose 40 pounds. I have been doing Bottoms Up Upper Body and elliptical 30 minutes at the gym every other day. I need to try the other two parts of Bottoms Up (middle and lower). Wish me luck!

Joyce Vedral's workouts are so effective. But they are also tough.I've been using her workout for app.
1 year now and have lost 51 lbs.I gained around 5 lbs
back over the hoildays but staying with the program.I used the Sparkspeople 28 day challenge but I customized it to the same workout I was using in Joyce's book since I was allready doing Joyce's workout for the last year.I've bought other books on weigh lifting but I always seem to end up right back on her plan again. So
finally I realized if her plan works why switch so to
keep being challenged I may go up on the amt. of weight I lift but stay on the same plan.I don't weigh myself often I've been dropping clothes sizes so I'm going to keep trying.Hang in there you will certainly get back to where you want to be.

I, too, am amazed that I haven't found this team before! I used Joyce's Fat Burning workout to drop 30 pounds before my wedding. Even though I still had another 25 to go at the timev I felt strong and healthy. Fast forward five years, and I've gone all soft and regained the weight. So, I started with the 12-Minute total workout this week with the plan to work back up to the intensity that the Fat Burning work out provides. I'm so excited to find others that love these workouts as much as I do!

Welcome Sherry: It feels so good to hear success stories about Joyce's workouts, we all had a great admiration for her workouts, as well for hersel. 65 years old and looking that great, she is really inspiring. Congratulations, on dropping many sizes, I think this is better, to keep track on your clothes instead of the balance because it is really frustrating to keep looking the numbers instead of how good our bodies are turning. Welcome to our team and keep it going. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm so glad to find other people who also like Joyce
Vedral's workouts.She's great.A little over1 yr. ago
I weighed 200 lbs and had terrible sugar drops, felt
terrible.I didn't have money or alot of room to work out at home.I walked into a used book store and there
was a free Joyce Vedral book.(I had never heard of her)So I got the book and read it,and procrastinated
for app 6 mths. Then I went to a goodwill and found some hand weights for cheap and actually started doing her workout.I alternated 1 day cardio/ 1 day upper body w/weights/ cardio/ & the next day lower
body / wts.I kept this up every day allowing 1 day per week off to rest.I don't weigh myself but once a
month.I pay more attention to dropping clothes sizes instead.I've lost 51 lbs. so far and feel great.Inow weigh 149 lbs. and hope to get to my goal weight of
130-135 lbs by this summer.I hear you're supposed to
switch workouts often but Joyces's are so addictive
I look forward to doing them I have stuck with the same one so far, because it works.Another inspiring
person is Bill Phillips his books are great and besides he's georgous he's inspiring and has an awe-
some cookbook out w/ low-fat recipes that actually taste great.Joyce Vedral & Bill Phillips are awesome.

Sorry I've been out of touch but I have been working hard!! I'm chugging the water & although I'm not tracking, I know that I'm doing good w/food. This past weekend was probably my best yet - I did my Bottoms Up workouts every day incl. abs & treadmill, didn't eat out & did not have any beers!! On top of it, I did a lot of housework so I consider that "extra credit". Oh, did I mention I broke a digit?? I achieved one of my small milestones & I'm pretty psyched about it because not much was happening. My goal for this week is to start checking in more often. Sounds like good news here from everyone too so keep it up!!

well, yesterday I managed to get the entire lower body workout done. Yep, was able to do all three sets with 3, 5, 10 lb weights. I was so pooped by the end though that I passed on the ab workout. I will fit that in yet today. My legs are a little on the sore side today :P Off to cheque out the website now ... nows!

Yes, there are about 18 DVDs, sometimes Joyce has them on sale. You may check her website www.joycevedral.com I hope that you are doing better. My favorite book is Weight training made easy. With that workout I lost several inches, and kept them off for some years until I got confident and stopped the workout and ate bad, until I got the extra pounds. I hope you will handle more weight emoticon . Have a great week end. emoticon

Well, I've been sick for the past two days and haven't been able to do much of anything. I went for a run today so tomorrow will be back to Bottoms Up. I am going to do 2 sets, using 3 and 5 lb, and if all feels well I think I will throw in the 3rd set with the 10 lb. Tomorrow is lower and middle body for me.

I didn't know there were DVD's. I've only ever had the one book, which I remembering ordering back in 94 or 95 after seeing Joyce on Oprah :)

I usually excercise with DVD, it usually takes less time. I have not been consistent with my workouts, but I keep myself motivated, I am always on the run, but I try to do at least Joyce's workouts. I have been able to keep my weight, I need to lose about 30 lbs but I am not desperate. Anyway, I DO NOT QUIT. I keep on trying.

Me, too. I was on a good path w/the Bottoms Up plan years ago - probably around '95 also. I agree that it's good to ease yourself back into it - you don't want to hate it. For my 1st week I did 3 sets of 8 w/5 lbs. but I've worked my way up to 3 sets of 15. We also got a home gym so I do some work there along w/my treadmill for cardio. I have to admit I don't follow the order of the exercises, I tend to do them page by page. What do you do? I planned to do the maximum plan (no terminator or wild woman tho) but I've just been doing 3-4 workouts per week so far.

Hey there - I was surprised to find this too! Looks like a pretty inactive bunch right now. I did Bottom's up years and years ago, stumbled across the book while going through my shelves, and started it again this week. That program made me sooo strong back in 1995 and I aim to get back there again. This week I am just trying to get in the habit of doing the program so I am only doing one set of each, without rests, with just the 3 lb weight. Next week I will add the second set with the 5 lb weights. I also play hockey about 3 times a week, and I try to run three times a week. It all keeps me busy so I am pretty loose about the strength training, aiming for 3 to 4 times each week.

Hi! I was on SP last year & sadly slacked off & got myself deleted :( But 3 weeks ago I restarted my Bottoms Up! workout & while searching for success stories found this Joyce Vedral page on SP. I thought the book was so old that no one heard of it but am SO motivated to see so many other fans!! So I immediately signed back up w/SP & here I am!! I'm feeling better already - how's everyone else doing??
