Hi all! I'm 39, eyeing the looming 40 that's coming next year, and training for two half marathons next year (I'm going to go for the Disney Coast to Coast medal, which requires me to complete a half marathon at both Florida and California parks). I'm still an utter rookie, and the one I'm doing in February (the Princess Half Marathon at Disney World) is my first half ever, so I'm anxious but optimistic. I'm not fast, nor am I training for speed... I'll be glad to finish the half in the maximum required time. But you know, I'll get there. :) And besides, when I committed to it, my husband did, too, so I'll have company.

You are inspiring me. Great story. I caught the 5K fever last summer when I did the Warrior Dash 5K obstacle course race, then the Beach dash last year and this year. I also did the St. Patrick's day 5K this past March.
I'm still not able to run the entire time. I keep trying to get there. I'm working on next St. Patrick's day 5K now so I joined this challenge this morning.
Thanks for the warm welcome! The race is getting closer and I'm starting to get butterflies! It's a different course than when I ran it before - a little more difficult, in my opinion. (I'm such a newbie - I had to go check it out and try it!) I know I can do it - but just don't know enough about running to do it faster. (I'm very slow! I'm still at the stage that I'm happy if I keep putting one foot in front of the other! )
Hi folks! I'm a married mom of two teenage boys living in Massachusetts. I've battled with my weight my entire life - lost and gained several times. I have the most success when I'm active and get in my exercise. On my last downward trend I ran the Flutie 5k. (-sponsored by the Doug Flutie Foundation for Autism. My youngest son is on the spectrum.) It was a brand new challenge for me and an awesome experience. Since then...5 years passed, I've earned my Masters degree, gained all my weight back and started back on the 'get-healthy' journey once again. Since Aug. 2011 I've lost 57 lbs to date and I've registered to run the 5k a second time! THIS time I'm about 15 lbs lighter than when I ran it last time AND my husband, my oldest son, and my neighbor are running it with me! My goal is to run it faster this time! Even if it's by one second, I'll be pleased! (o:
