Thanks for the encouragement, everyone! Went running again today and even shaved a bit more time off of my run the other day. I can't believe it. Guess I'm breaking through my first plateau. I've never hit a plateau before, so I didn't realize that was what it was. The nice weather helps a lot too!

I loved your post Kathy. As a fellow Jersey runner, sometimes I make excuses as to why I can't or don't want to run. You have three children, you home school them, and you still have time to fit in a run? You are my motivation. Good for you! Marge.

Hey everyone! Just stumbled across this team and knew I had to join! I started the Couch 2 5K program in August, 2011, turned 40 in November and ran my first 5K in December. At that point, I wasn't really enjoying running, but I enjoyed the feeling of accomplishment. I told myself that I would take the winter off and then start running again in the spring.

But then something weird happened.

After I made that declaration, I went out for a brisk walk. It didn't feel right. My body needed to run. So I did. It happened again the next time I went for a walk, so I ran again instead. After the third time of not being able to just walk, I realized - hey! Maybe I like running now! So I've stuck with it and yesterday for the first time was able to sustain a 10 minute mile for 3 miles in a row. I know, that's small potatoes for some, but for this 40 year old homeschooling mom of 3, it darn near a miracle! I'm looking forward to getting to know some of you guys on the team (BTW - "you guys" in Jersey is gender neutral) and learn more about how to run!
