Hello, everyone. I am new to running. Im doing the couch to 5k program, Im on the second wk and I actually love it. I just pray and hope that I can build to actually run for a long time. But so far so good. And I hope I can also see the results also.

Welcome Ama,

Besides a good pair of running shoes and a sound program such as the one Jenn suggested, allow patience with your training. While it is always fun to challenge the body be sure to allow for a nice recovery in between runs which means you should not run every day. I wish you well!

HAPPY RUNNING!

Many of us started with the Couch to 5k plan -- http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

It is a fantastic way to begin, providing structure and a gradual increase in running.

Welcome to running! We all had to start at the beginning, and will be here to help you celebrate your success!

I do recommend going to a specialty running store and being fitted for a pair of running shoes. Finding the shoe that works with your foot makes a HUGE difference.

Hello,

Two years ago I started getting healthy, and have come leaps and bounds so far, but my cardio ability is still seriously lacking. Mostly because I've avoided doing it because it's HARD!

I've decided to incorporate some running in my regular workout routine. I have no experience with running, other than for the bus.

I'm starting from the very bottom--I find it very difficult to run more than 30 seconds at a time. emoticon

This of course is the reason I need to run.

If anyone has any wisdom/suggestions about how I should begin, what to expect, etc, that would be fantastic. Any information at all is appreciated, since as I mentioned I'm starting from absolute scratch.

Thanks in advance for the assistance!
