I am very new also, I just got finished my 3rd try at running. I am taking it slow. My cardio seems to be getting better, it's my legs that are holding me back. I was going to try a running program that I found on here but I found out that I need to build up to the beginners running program. I walk around a track and one lap is about 1/4 mile so I run 1/4 lap of each lap and tonight I walked/jogged 3 miles. Yey for me!!

Thanks for a great topic. It made me laugh. I am walker/jogger and my times are slow also, but getting better every week

Hey, you've found the right group! I'm another slow runner, but there's lots of encouragement here. And Lybbe is right...patience helps!

Sounds like my running speed. Started at about 14 minute mile, now I average about 12-13 minutes. (I know it's still slow but hey, I'm moving) You will get faster as you work. Good luck on your running goals.

Sophia - I'm a slow runner too. You don't have to be fast to do long distances. You just have to be patient...lol

Good luck to you!! I know you can accomplish your goal...this is a great team and inspired/helped me train and complete my first half just last weekend. When I started, I wasn't even a runner. I confess, I did walk most of the way. LOL)

hey guys, new here -- not sure what to say about myself... i love running and these days am working on creating a better base for doing some races next spring/summer/fall. i haven't done one in a few years and i miss it! i'm doing shortish distances, 3-5 miles a few times a week and am going to start upping the distance in february or so. my big goal is to complete my second marathon next fall in under 5 hours. i'm a turtle but a persistent one : )
