Yes, thank you. I have scheduling conflicts with the weekend hikes but have been a member of the their email list for years. The website has some very useful info as well. I wish it would stop raining and we would get that nice warm spring weather back! I want to get outside!
You may already know about this but the Triple Cities Hiking Club does walks every Saturday and Sunday. Sundays are easier. They use a car pool system and you do not need to be a member or have a car to participate. Here's the link to their site. www.triplecitieshikingclub.org Check it out. This is a very friendly group. No one ever gets left behind.
You don't need to beat anyone else to be a winner.
Great to have you joining our local SparkTeam and to see you jumping in with your introduction!
Hiking is such a great way to Spark! I love the outdoors...it can be so inspiring!
The Nutrition and Fitness trackers are definitely the core of building a healthy and well lifestyle. The other features about SparkPeople which I think make it THE best health and wellness online community is the positive, supportive nature of contacts which you can build here with your SparkFamily. Browsing other SparkPages and blogs, leaving comments, blogging your journey, joining in with message threads or starting up new threads with questions, observations...all of this brings out the supportive nature of our community.
The added feature of a local SparkTeam is that we can pull together and enjoy SparkRallies in a variety of ways, whether a pot-luck picnic at one of our local parks, walking together, catching up with each other at events such as the upcoming Binghamton Bridge Run (which I'll be doing) or meeting up at local spots such as the Whole In The Wall restaurant which features veggie and healthy dishes.
This is OUR TEAM and we can pull together for fun and to show our SPARK! A few years back we joined with the American Cancer Society and had a blast being in on the Relay For Life in which we had someone walking the relay for 24 hours straight!
Looking forward to hearing more from you and WAY open to any thoughts, questions you might have!

I'm new and just finding my way around. I looked for an intro thread but couldn't find one so here goes. . .I'm trying to focus on being active and eating right. I've struggled with my weight all my life sometimes being heavy sometimes thin. I'm ready to let go the diet lifestyle and focus on health and feeling good about myself whatever the scale says.
I love to walk and especially to hike. My son and I just set a new goal of 50 hikes this year. I hope to use this site to help me track them. We've also decided to track our miles walked by seeing if we can get from the shire to Mordor (1779 miles). This will be a combination of hikes and walks. Should be fun. If anyone has favorite hikes in or near the southern tier I'd love to hear about them.
I am a little overwhelmed by the "stuff" here. I've used online fitness and food trackers before, but this site has so many features it may take me awhile to figure it all out.
