VERY cool that you play bagpipes! I dust off my guitar now & then...lol.
I surprised myself by tackling the 5K challenge, even though I'm just NOT a runner I managed to do the 5K at the Binghamton Bridge Run last year and this year. It's the only 5K I'm willing to do...at least thus far...! :-) I figure what better way to join with fellow members of our local SparkTeam and with the Binghamton community at large...?
Step by step, and I'm already seeing you joining in the fun of a 5K...among other things!

Hey all. New to Sparkpeople today. My friend Julie got me into this, and I'm so impressed by her journey that I had to start one of my own.
Little bit about me: newly single mom of two girls, 11 and 9. I am a member of my local Elks lodge, I play the bagpipes in the Edward P. Memorial Pipe Band, and I work at UHS. I love reading, and I want to write a book someday sooner rather than later.
My main goals with Sparkpeople are to lose about 20 pounds, run a 5k (without walking), and to eat and live better.
My main problem though is motivation. I need help staying on task and actually getting my rather large butt moving. Any tips would be appreciated, as well as words of encouragement.
I look forward to meeting many new people, and I want to share my journey. Hopefully, we can team up and do thsi together!
