Welcome, Darin! This is a very helpful group and they're always very encouraging. I'm hoping to meet some of them myself for the first time soon. I'm hoping to be able to do the hike this weekend. Getting in those 20 minutes of walking each day is a great start!
Hello and welcome Darin! Good Luck on your journey!
It's not uncommon to go to bed thinking, "Darn, I should have run today." It's not common to go to bed thinking, "I shouldn't have run today."

Hello, I am Catherine from Port Crane, NY

welcome to the group! I know alot of us are out and about this time of year with running/biking/ fishing/hiking... Good job on making the decision to park your car farther away.. I agree with Don.. First it takes small steps.. which leads to bigger steps. :) Keep up the great work!
“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.
Great to see you posting your intro! Love the idea of parking further away...baby steps lead to GIANT changes building our healthy lifestyle!
Keep in mind the upcoming hike as a way to get out and enjoy Mother Nature and meet some of us:

Ok... so, I was about to start a topic in General Discussion when I remembered I have not yet introduced myself.
I don't like introducing myself. There is SO much to say... and nothing seems to really encompass all I mean, so... with that in mind...
I work (and usually eat) at Binghamton University. I found SparkPeople through a friend who is also one of the Binghamton Area Losers. I have started finding my way around (-: thank u DDOORN for welcoming me as soon as I joined, and answering my few of my questions :-). I started by tracking my water and veggie/fruit servings. I have also set a 1st step weight goal, and have started tracking my nutrition. I posted a couple of blogs, one I expect to refer back to frequently in my other blogs as it concerns my relationship with caffeine.
In addition to being a few (30-50) lbs overweight, I have hypertension (for which I take medication) and my cholesterol is boarder line (for which I don't take medication). I park my car far enough from my office to make it almost a 10 min walk each way (in the morning and the evening). I know this is not much, but it is something that stuck. I am plan to make sure each way is over 10 mins. I think this is an "other goal" for one of the teams I joined. I am trying to get myself OUT of the house every Friday night. Right now the plan is to go out dancing, but I am having limited success with that so far.
So... that feels like a LOT of information already. I LOVE to IM and Message with folks, but I don't always know what to say. Please drop me a line and ask questions. That is the best way to get to know me.
I hope to get to know more of you face to face,
