thank you and yes I am just starting. I have been on sparkpeople for a while but did not do much but know I am getting back in to fitness and trying to be healthy.

There are a couple ways to count Wii Fit calories. The easiest is if you have the Wii Fit Plus version, it will give you an estimate of calories burned at the end of each workout. If you don't see that, just click on the little piggy bank looking character and it will cycle through showing you the duration of that day's workout, the estimated calories, and the total Wii workout minutes. The piggy shows up on what I think of as the main Wii Fit menu page where you have to select which category of exercises you want to do (e.g., yoga, etc.).

You can create a custom exercise in the SP fitness tracker, where you will track those calories.

If you have the original version (not Plus), you can search on "Wii" in the fitness tracker and it will show you estimated calories for some of the Wii Fit exercises. For anything not there, you need to pick something that seems close to what you did. For this approach, if it is a balance games I either don't track it at all or select the Stretching / Flexibility option that is in the tracker.

How do we count calories burned from wii fit or don't we?

You certainly do have a busy schedule between work and care-giving. Getting in 15 mins per day of exercise is a great idea. We can almost always find a way to sneak in that little bit of activity. A side benefit of making your own health a priority is that you stay healthy and strong enough to care for others. Your 1 lb a week loss is a great goal. Best wishes!

I am Nan (57) sharing my home with my 81 year old parents who have health and fitness issues which make me chief carer and heavy domestic chores person in the home and garden.
I work full time (35 hours over 4 days with a 3 hours daily commute).
Taking care of home takes up most of my time so exercise rather takes a back seat (like back of the bus not back of the car)
I have been with Sparkpeople for some time leaving and then re-registering a couple of times and knowing all the theory but never putting much of it into practice. At 5ft 0, I am overweight just below the obese line and know I MUST do something. I have a 3 week holiday in America in 4 weeks time and have decided that I WILL try to lose at least 1lb per week till then and in house exercise seems my best option. I am starting the 15 mins a day Wii On Monday and have just set up my machine so we are ready for go when I get home tomorrow evening.
Wii fit age for today is 45
