Emily~ I know what you mean...I've started a couple of teams...people would join and not post. Why join if you're not going to participate? I don't get it. The future of this Gout team is EXTREMELY questionable also! I once maintained a group by myself for 3 months! Did alot of research and learned alot!
I will refer to you as EMILY...correct me if I am wrong! I'm SO excited that you joined! I haven't gotten to know you on 50+50.
So is everything ALL cleared up? I hope so! Let's try to post at least once a day. Maybe that will encourage other people who visit our page to see what's going on. I knew nothing about gout until I started researching when I had my first episode.
My first gout attack came in Dec 2007. I also woke to an almost unbearable pain in my right foot. It was red, swollen, and horribly painfilled. I knew what it was immediately as my mother also had gout.
We have no small clinics here, so I had to go to the ER. They x-rayed it but agreed it was probably gout. They gave me a shot and some pills. I also have multiple medical problems so I am not able to take the recommended meds either.
My acute gout attack last over 3 weeks ... it kept coming back every week for about 5 weeks. After the 5th week, the skin by my right toe split and shed off.
I am slightly worried, because I have started a low carb diet and I am hoping I am drinking enough water to prevent another attack. Time will tell.
