Good to meet you Mimi, I didn't have a lot of will power when I first started with Sparkpeople either. I found that tracking all of my food really helped with my will power. It got to the point I didn't want to track all the bad habits, even though I was the only one seeing it. I improved my good habits one meal at a time. Still have days when I go off track but I get right back at it.

Glad to have you here. You'll find that SparkPeople has lots of tools to help you, plus the community support is great. You should set up your personal SparkPage so people can communicate with you directly and send goodies (little pictures) for extra encouragement.

It's good that you're starting with the water. It might seem like a small thing but it's a lot of those small changes put together that make a difference. Set reasonable goals for yourself. Reaching those goals and feeling successful sets you up for more success.

I'd recommend you track your food intake. emoticon Record everything, even the "bad" foods. And don't beat yourself up if you go off track. "It's not how many times you fall that matters, it's how many times you get back up."

If you're having trouble committing to exercise (I can identify with that!) start out with just 10 minutes of whatever exercise you choose. Tell yourself that's all you have to do. Chances are, once you begin, you'll go longer. I think it's important to establish the habit of exercise on a regular basis, even if it is just that 10 minutes.

Good luck. You're right, we are all in this together. Just ask if you need extra support.

Hi....my name is Mimi and I live in the U.S.A. I really need to lose some serious weight. For me and for my family. Problem is...i have only moderate self control and it seems no will power for exercise. I hope this site helps us all help and encourage each other. I'm starting off by doing the water intake challenge. This is one that I can do. Let's see what tomorrow brings. Hope to get to know some of you out there. After all....we are all in this together.
