How do you stay active during the winter?
Question from 12/11?

Now that I'm getting back into the swing of things I love to walk the local park however winter has shown is face and thirty degree weather is a bit much....therefore, I have located various indoor areas to workout whenever this happens or rain happens...anywho my list
Currently attending college so gym access is FREE (indoor track and cardio & weight equipment) Zumba classes are offered but not on my schedule. I love Zumba so I have tried out several instructors and "WILL TRAVEL" out of my area to attend. Fridays when I'm off Zumba and indoor track at local church. Sat when I'm off Zumba across the bay(FIT LISA is great and worth the drive)
Also one of the best and cheapest workouts I do happens at home, I checkout various FREE dvds from the LIBRARY and workout before work at least twice a week in conjunction to those listed above.
SORRY FOR SO MUCH info.....but u did ask, lol

I make my own cranberry relish, no cooking involved and only takes about 10 minutes to make, you can make it the day before, or early in the day to have it done and out of the way, no cooking involved either, just a food processor

1 bag fresh cranberries (put them right in the freezer when you buy them, they need to be frozen for the recipe)
1 lb apples
1 whole orange
1/2 to 1 cup sugar

Core the apple, but leave the peel on, mix about half the apples and half the cranberries in the food processor and chop them up to about .25 inch piece, repeat with the remaining half of the cranberries. Add sugar to the cranberry and apple mixture and stir to combine. Chop the whole orange (with peel), into quarters and then add to the food processor and cut up very small, add to the cranberry-apple mixture and mix well. Taste to see if the sugar level is correct, depending on the type and sweetness of the apples you may need to add more sugar, I usually start with a half cup and gradually work up to about 3/4 cup of sugar.

The longer this sits before serving the better it tastes, so fresh and refreshing.

For your Christmas Dinner do you cook your own cranberry sauce or do you serve the canned cranberry sauce?



I've used both but find the cranberry in the can is much easier to use when I'm so busy cooking the rest of the meal.

I'm really struggling with that - I was walking long walks with my dog, but it's too cold now. I could go to the Y but I'm currently restricted from any strength training, so it feels pointless, and honestly, the malls are SO crowded it's not powerwalking, it's shuffling! Help!

I'll see which ones in my area might open early for walkers - I hear some do.

I've been in the same weight range all year. Resolved two long-standing medical concerns this year, including having elective surgery this summer. Glad to have that behind me, but it was a setback for exercise, especially strength training.

I started in May, cruised through the first two months no problem! Have been struggling ever since. I lost twenty eight pounds, then started to gain back. Right now I am back up fourteen. So add fourteen to my ticker and thats where I am, sliding up and down, up and down.

I've lost 50 pounds (since April) and gotten on track with learning about blood sugar, and am now pretty even keeled with it. I also walk/ran my first 5k walkathon and have gotten to walking or exercising at least 5 out of 7 days. Now I just have to keep it all up while I lose another 75!

Still trying to get accustom to a new city even though I have been here two years. For as weight down 11 lbs and personal goals met did two half marathons this year, with a PR on one the 15K I did shaved 4 min. off from the year before.

How far have you come in 2011?



For me I have yoyoed with the same 5 to 10 pounds. I have learned to use the nutrition and exercise trackers to keep me more accountable. I learned that my exercise equipments are my friends. Each day is a new day for me with new challenges that I look forward to.
