I can't speak for the DVDs but I do have the Wii game. I've used it I think 2-3 times. For me its just not the same as my class.

Personally I thrive in the class environment. With an instructor challenging us, and with the camaraderie of the others in the class. I have tried a number of instructors, but always compare them to my instructor.

My other issue is that I have a cat who likes to attack my feet - especially if I'm trying to work out! :)

Hi, I love Zumba as well, I did my first class on October 1 and I fell in love with it. I have such a crazy schedule that I can't go to more than 3 classes per week, however I want to do Zumba 7 days a week that is how much I love it. I was considering getting the DVDs but wasn't sure if they were good. Can anyone tell me about the DVDs or even the Wii game. I need more Zumba and they don't offer it at good times for me since I work full time and go to school full time at night. HELP I need more LOL!!!!!

I also do both aqua and regular Zumba. I might even start doing the toning Zumba at my Y. I love Zumba. I feel like I plan my day around doing Zumba. I was glad yesterday that I did Zumba at the noon class since the two later classes were canceled due to Sandy. I hope today's classes go as scheduled.

I so love Zumba. I do 2 aqua Zumba classes and 3 land based classes. I dance around the house with the music in my mind when I get up to go potty. I am a little silly that way.

Yeah, nothing beats a class to me, too. :) And Karen, I'm learning those DVD's with ya. How old is your daughter? My 13 y/o daughter sometimes does a step or two with me, but she's so busy with her own dance and baton, she just does a step or two in passing. :) I'd give much to have a Zumba workout buddy. :)

I too didn't care much for Zumba the first 2 times I went, but I am sooo glad that I tried it again. Depending on my work schedule, I get to up to 5 classes a week. My first class was about 2 years ago, and now I won't miss a class unless I'm working or on a trip.

I love the Exhilarate DVDs! I still think nothing beats going to an actual class (the energy is amazing), but for the days that I can't get out of the house, I can still get my Party on. emoticon

Hi, Dee! I've heard good things about Exhilarate! though I've learned that I don't like to "take class by myself". I'm getting better at that, though, because I've become an instructor so I get the new DVDs to learn and I have to practice them. I'm glad my daughter sometimes does it with me.

I love Zumba!!!!!! I wish it were offered more at my gym. Are the exhilerate dvd's anything like class? If so, I could buy those to supplement my regular classes.
Glad there are a bunch of us that are Zumba fanatics. ;)

LOVE Zumba (which is funny, because I hated it for the first few sessions). I now do regular Zumba, Zumba Toning (with the 2.5lb sticks) and Aqua Zumba. My hubby just bought me the Zumba Exhilarate DVD set and I can't WAIT until it comes in the mail this week!! I also have some new Zumbawear coming my way. It's going to be a great week! emoticon

Oh, I'm sure the Zumba wear is addictive. Clothes in general are my weakness--especially now that I'm in a smaller size. And the Zumba wear is so CUTE! :) I haven't been to zumbafashion.com, but I bet I will now! I've been to a couple of the Zumba class/parties, and I've found that the Zumba wear is about half price at those! I still don't have any, though.

That's what I'd like to do--be my instructor's assistant and possible sub. I enjoy her class. We did have 2 instructors at my gym, and the other one was really fun, too, but she just resigned (she's moving). It would be really cool if I could go take the instructor's class, but that will have to wait a bit. My kids have MEGA expenses the next 3 months or so.

Susie, I have to warn you! Once you start shopping, it's impossible to stop... emoticon

You're right about having the right instructor and I compliment mine here ALL the time! I've become her unofficial assistant and she completely the reason I became licensed. I don't want my own class just yet because I love being her assistant and hate missing any of her classes. I joined ZIN (Zumba Instructors Network) so I can get the new dances when the other instructors do and I can work on learning the songs at home. I'm prepared to sub for a class, but the opportunity hasn't come up. But I've only been licensed for 2 months.

I started with one outfit (United We Dance) because of a Zumbathon for ALS and a portion of the proceeds from the outfit went to the organization. Then the clothes went on sale. Then I discovered zumbafashion.com and I have a complete wardrobe for the 5 classes per week that I attend. I do keep a total of my expenses and feel that I should take on a class just so I can take a loss on writing everything off as a business expense. We'll see.

Hi Susie! I recently got my15 year old daughter to come once a week with me - it's been 6 weeks now. She's really enjoying it and starting to catch on to the moves. She even downloaded a few songs to her iPod. But she's not ready to go more often or practice with me outside of class. She's hooked on my instructor same as I am and I love having that in common with her. I even bought her Zumbawear! She's not obsessed yet like I am, but it's still early in the game for her. :)

Definitely a Zumba addict. I started Zumba at the beginning of the year. I had heard of it, and was dying to try it, because I love to dance. I used to teach fitness classes about 9 years ago, and the dancier it was, the better I liked it. I only get to go to 2 classes a week, usually. I work nights, so I can only go to the Tuesday night at 6:15pm class and the Sunday afternoon at 3pm class. I bought the Wii Zumba game, and I like it, but there is just nothing like a real class. My 12 year old daughter goes to the classes with me when she can. She's a Majorette who competes in both baton and dance, so she loves the Zumba classes. Right up her alley. She and I had the pleasure of going to a Zumba master class with Zumba 305 team (SOOOOO fun!!!--LOVED Wiki Wiki!). We also went to a Glow & Glitter Zumba party with DJ Francis, Marcie Gill, and Eric Santana. That was AWESOME!!! :) I mostly keep my Pandora on the Zumba channel, and when I go running, I have a Zumba playlist that I run to. LOL. I've lost 40 pounds since January, and Zumba has played a huge part in that. Yes, my name is Susie, and I'm an addict. emoticon

I'm totally addicted... I go to a Zumba class 5 times a week. My instructor offers 3 classes a day and charges just $1 per class. My husband freaked out for a minute because he had never seen me so motivated to exercise. He actually thought I was seeing another man. Nope, I just looooooove Zumba.

Oh, I'm definitely an addict. I only went 3 times before I got injured and it was the WORST ever! I had to stop exercising completely for a couple weeks, and when I was able to get back to working out, I had to do non-impact stuff like elliptical machine and stationery cycling! Talk about BORING! I couldn't WAIT to get back to doing Zumba but I was thinking I might have to wait a month til I get into better shape to even try again. But Tuesday night I got fed up with having to do boring workouts so I talked to a trainer about when I can try Zumba again. He told me I can go back to doing it now, and just modify and if it hurts I can stop. I also have a sparkfriend that's a trainer and she told me the same thing, only tell the instructor about my injury and do extra stretching after class. So I'm ready to go! Next class that I can go to is on Sunday and from then on out I'll be doing 3 classes a week! Woo hoo! Never thought I'd get this excited about exercise but it's fun! I also have the Total Body Tranformation system at home and when my refund comes I'm getting Exhilarate! Sometime down the road once I get to goal I'd like to go thru the training to become a Zumba instructor and then teach it at my gym.I'm sure there would be a demand for it since the zumba classes they have are always full and the instructor teaches at other places as well.

I'm an addict! Can't get enough, but it's gotta be with my favorite instructor. I'll attend other's classes but it's not as much fun when I don't know the dances as well. I'm registered for the B1 training in April and I'm so excited.

Yes-the first step is admitting to the problem. The second is admitting I don't want to get help! lol I am TOTALLY addicted! I have even fallen behind on my job at home and adjusted our family day a little just to attend ALL the classes. I felt I was missing out not making it one day or two in the week. I felt like the teen who didn't get to go to the party everyone was expected to be at! lol I was going three days a week, now I am going five. My instructor is teaching at another location now so I have started going to the second location. When there are opportunities available I visit other instructors I know as well. At times I have to work late on Thursday's. I get upset and constantly sit there and think of how I can leave work early enough to get to the class! When I'm not in a class, I am always visualizing how choreography can be put together whenever songs come on the radio. No matter what type of song it is. OR, my daughter and I are pulling up different YouTube videos.

There is an instructional training class that has always been an hour away which is pretty close. This month there is a class only five minutes away! It is an opportunity that might not come that often, if ever again. I am seriously considering signing up this time. I messed up the first couple of times and the class filled up over a month in advance. If I don't go that route, I will probably forever be in a class right in the front row!

I am officially addicted to Zumba. I go 5 days a week to 1 hour classes. If my gym offered more classes I would definitely go more often. I decided today that I am an addict - after my class this morning I found myself thinking that I could find another place that offered the classes, so that I could go twice as much.

Almost done!

The other day I was driving and was looking for something on the radio to listen to. I found a Spanish station that was playing some lively music and my immediate thought was, "I could totally Zumba to that."

I find myself humming tunes from Zumba while I'm working in the kitchen, and doing moves as I cook.

I am becoming a TZA. Love it.

Keep moving forward!

Talk about Zumba addiction and you'll find my picture in the dictionary! I do it 6x a week, an hour a day. I rotate around Sculpt&Tone and Abs 3x a week, then it's Zumba Live, S&T and Abs, Cardio Party, S&T, then 20 minute basic workout.

Come January 2012, it's Zumba Exhilarate! It's pretty advanced. They have different instructors with are muscular and I mean these women are powerful. The sets are shiny and the flashing lights makes it look a little too Hollywood for me, but Zumba is Zumba and if you think the beats in the original dvd set are hypnotic, wait until you hear "Get Your Sticks"!

LOVE, PEACE & CHICKEN GREASE!

@ mommy_ash: you should just take a class...there are really women of every age, shape and size in my classes. I have a friend who is ~280 and was very nervous about taking a class...after the first two, she can't get enough. We're all there to work out, have fun and get healthy. It's a lot less judgmental than you think. Please take a class!!! You will NOT regret it. I've been going for 11 weeks, have 44 classes done and lost 7" (4" in my waist alone!) and 15 pounds. My body is getting in shape! The DVDs and Wii game are good, but nothing compares to the intensity of a live class! I AM SO GLAD I FOUND ZUMBA!!! I'm up to 5 times a week now and just completed my first two hour master class on Saturday. I seriously cannot get enough!

Zumba is very addictive, especially with the right teacher and great songs! I love my one instructor at 24 Hr Fitness that almost all the others are unacceptable. I do 3 classes a week- one on Saturday and Zumba and Zumba toning back to back on Mondays. I sometimes go to a Thurs class at 5pm if I can get away from work early. I'm in love with a new song we do by Chalie Boy, called "I Look Good". It uses some great boxing moves but we do some of them while squatting really low. It's a great total body workout.

So totally addicted. I showed up for a 2-hour Zumba Toning/Zumba back-to-back class on Sat morning only to learn that it is cancelled INDEFINITELY due to a leak in the roof that is posing an electrical risk! All of us ladies were standing there outside the door reading the sign and joking that we might just blast our car stereos and Zumba in the parking lot if we can't use the building! Turns out, we reached out to our instructor and decided we just may do Zumba in the parking lot if we can't find a location to get us in. Hopefully this gets worked out quickly, but either way, we won't let it get in the way of our addiction!

I joined 24 hour fitness last June to work out on the elliptical and do some weights. I soon met a few people that were doing water aerobics and so I did that, which was fun since I do love to swim, plus I thought this could be easy for someone at my size (300+ lbs). I inquired of the classes that were going on some caught my eye but I found my love... zumba I knew I loved to dance but I wasn't sure if I could do it, not at my size. I had seen the enfomercials for zumba and wanted to buy it but never did... Well eventually instead of dreaming about the class from a distance I decided to go and I am soooooooooooooooooo glad I did! Zumba has become a part of my life! Even with me messing up on my weight loss journey so many times zumba still stayed in my bones. I didn't quit my gym membership even when I was going to give up on myself because of zumba. I got the first set of zumba dvd's by Beto for home from a friend and I loved them no doubt (still do) but there is nothingl like doing Zumba LIVE! Once i got started on zumba I did it at least 4 days a week or more and I LOVED IT! I got off track but I knew I loved zumba and I am so glad I am back at it! I want to be an instructor one day! I will say to anyone thinking they can't do it....you can! Just do it! Zumba is a "style" so make it your own, you don't have to do it like anyone else...feel the music and let it take you away! Blessings! Shawnda

MOMMY_ASH: I was excited to find that many, many instructors use the routines and/or music from the DVDs. Makes you feel a whole lot more confident in a live class! There are people of all shapes, sizes, and ages in Zumba classes. When you are ready, go for it!! And then come back here and tell us all about how much you loved the experience! :)

I have been doing Zumba for a week, and I am addicted. I have the dvd's I love them. I have only done the first 2 discs so far, but I am addicted.. I have the songs stuck in my head all day, and I notice I start moving all day, because I have the songs in my head. I did a couple days last week, and then rested over the weekend and haven't missed a day this week. My weekends are so hectic so they will probably be my rest days.
But I love the discs, I am very self-concisous about how much overweight I am so I haven't done a class, they offer them a couple different places in town, but maybe once I drop some weight in a few months I will possible do a class.

Hi KA1I_MA;

I believe the DVD's are worth the money, they are not half as fun as going to a class, but you learn the basics and definitely get the workout.
I try to mix the DVD's up so that it doesn't get boring and repetitive. I wish the music were different on the DVD's, I am a more hip-hop kinda girl when it comes to Zumba, but either way, I absolutely enjoy them.

Go to classes when you can and use the DVD's when you can't. That is what I do.

Where I live, the classes are mostly scheduled when it is difficult for me to get there on time and if I am late the classes are full so I can't get in. So I decided to go for Instructor Training (June 24th) and that way I can create my own.

I spoke with a local gym and they can't wait for me to be certified and ready to teach classes in there, they are so excited, they dont even care when (what day or time) I teach them!

Another addict checking in. I am a school librarian and I have been playing the sample ZUMBA music (from Amazon) on my computer all morning. Zumba has improved my running and has helped me lose some weight. This summer I am going to go more often and hope to shed my last 10 pounds of weight.

I just found out about Zumbathons! I think it's awesome that the money for the one I'm going to is going to the American Heart Association.

I'm traveling like 30 minutes to get there, but I live in the boondocks so driving 30 minutes to anywhere is pretty normal. I'm so excited though!

Oh ... and I agree. The instructors are a large part of what makes me an addict. I'm lucky enough to live near a fitness studio that offers over 20 Zumba classes a week. And all of the instructors are amazing! You cannot go wrong, no matter who's in front of the class.

Hi. I'm Lynn and I'm a Zumbaholic. I attend Zumba at least three times a week and I always have Zumba songs running through my head. I tell everyone that I do Zumba. I tell everyone looking for a new exercise program that they should try Zumba. My hb doesn't understand, but he knows it makes me happy. Zumba. Zumba. Zumba.

I'M ADDICTED TO ZUMBA TOO! As others have said, no one else really understands. My husband thinks I'm crazy because I call him several times every day at work to make sure he will be home in time to get the baby so I can make my class. He picks up the phone and says "I know...Zumba." and hangs up- LOL. After my Friday class, I start dreaming about my Monday class! Thank you all for sharing your thoughts about Zumba. Each post is so inspirational!

I agree. I haven't seen the DVDs, but I know it wouldn't be as fun without the rest of the class there to enjoy it with me! It's so much fun! A friend of mine has tried the DVDs and she said it is much more fun in class. :) I think about Zumba 24/7, seriously. On an "off" day, I long for Zumba, and then I get excited knowing that it's coming up the next day! :) Tomorrow I will try the Aqua Zumba in the morning, and then my regular Zumba class in the evening! I can't wait!

Love Love Love ZUMBA! I have to convince myself not to go 7 days a week! I feel so good after a class, I cannot wait until the next one. I agree the instructor is key... Bad instructor wrecks the whole thing. Fortunately they are far & few between here. I don't think I would like the DVD's, I need the energy a class brings. emoticon

I completely agree, I go to Zumba basically everyday ( I am a bit of an addict... I will admitemoticon ) and today we had a new instructor... she was great don't get me wrong, but very hard to follow, her ques where all off and she talked throughout. She also faced us for a majority of the class. But it was still an enjoyable class.

But our regular instructor is sooooo full of energy and even if you feel you may just collapse... she pushes you to go further and to go harder.emoticon

I agree with Bellasotelo...the instructor makes all the difference! I have an awesome instructor, and anytime someone subs for her it's a little bit of a disappointment. I have a hard time getting used to someone else's routines. Also, my instructor faces the same direction we do, instead of facing the class. That makes it easier to follow her than it is to follow the other instructor who faces the class. That's when I get all mixed up! emoticon

I was going to order the DVDs and my girlfriend let me borrow hers to see if I really liked it she moved into an apartment and can't do them anymore so she looking to join a class. I love the DVDs and I'll be ordering them real soon. Last year I was going a few times to classes and really enjoyed them. I'm planning on going next week to a class. I think the classes are more fun but I still love the DVDs. Can't wait tomorrow I'm doing Zumba live thats a lot of fun. I'm a TOTAL addict. I feel better when I do the classes and worse when I don't. I NEED them. I was taking Zumba classes four time a week. I'm waiting for the toning class to start back up and to find out if Joyce (my fav instructor) is gonna be doing it Saturday mornings at UB. Mondays I take Karen's class and Tuesdays I usually do another of Joyce's but I signed up for bellydancing. Gonna be fun but I'm missing Zumba. Grr. There's another gym opening where I live so I'm hoping they'll have lots of Zumba classes and great instructors so I can do it more. And just right around the corner. Woo-hoo!

Last week I went to two classes in a row and felt amazing! My instructor isn't offering more than one class this week, but from here on out she will be doing 3 classes/week. I am going to sign up for all of them because the more I do it, the better I feel! I always thought that it was silly for people to "love" their workout until I found something I loved! Now I tell everyone about it and try to get them to ZUMBA with me!!!

hey everyone, I'm new to Zumba & this team! I have the dvd's for at home, and am just in the process of looking for shoes (cause i have carpet in my apt.... even in my kitchen!) Anyway, I have wide feet, so stopped at a New Balance store today just to get an idea. I tried on a pair that felt great, looked great (though I don't care what they look like, really.) I couldn't afford to get them, but even still, I was walking in the store (carpeted), & turning on the balls of my feet, like in a circle... ehhh... not sure. Grrrr... I may end up (last resort) buying apiece of plywood or something to put down. I actually emailed at the site, asking for suggestions. They mentioned their shoes (only in Med). Apparently they didn't read my whole note. I'll figure something out.. in the meantime, I'm happy to be here!!!!emoticon

I am a Zumba addict for sure! When I first walked in to a zumba class I was 264 lbs. There is nothing sexy feeling about weighing that much. Despite the mirrors in the class, and my large body and my not being able to keep up - for the one brief moment as I moved my body I felt beautiful. For the brief moment I felt sexy. And while it seems like getting back down to my normal size would never happen and I wasnt interested in really pursuing weight loss (syndrome X -and its 3x's as hard to lose weight) I decided I would come back. That I liked it. Two and a half months later I was down 50 lbs. Zumba is magic. It does something to you inside and out. And no matter how big you are when you first go to a class, you feel awesome despite mirrors. Beto Perez and his Zumba program saved my life, made me happy and are transforming my body. I am still a work in progress, but everyday is a good day. Now I love life.

Hi, I'm Keri
I've been attending Zumba classes for over a year at my local Y. It is such a great workout and fun way to exercise. I try to go 2 or 3 times a week. I always look forward to it. I absolutely love it!

When I first tried Zumba around Nov. of last year, I was highly intimidated but luckily was forced to try it by my brother. Ever since that first class, I've been under the Zumba Fever!! emoticon
I now attend Zumba classes 4xs a week and would attend every day if it were possible :) Hopefully I'll be able to make that 5xs a week soon with an introduction of a new Zumba instructor at the gym I go to. There's been an increase of demand for Zumba there so the gym is planning on adding more classes, to which I'm extremely excited for! WHOOOHOO! emoticon

My old gym offered Zumba but I moved and the new gym I joined did not offer it. Addict is a good word, I hunted down Zumba classes like a drug! I went to a few free trials at local gyms that did offer Zumba and even found one going on at a dance studio nearby. I bought the DVD's but I felt they lack the energy you get in the class.

Then I got an email from the Y I belong to saying that they were offering Zumba 3 days a week this fall. I registered immediately! I am going to Thursdays and Fridays for the next 8 weeks and I can't wait! I start tomorrow!!! The best part is at the end of the 8 weeks I leave for vacation, hopefully about 5 lbs lighter and way more toned thanks to Zumba!

So I was intorduced to Zumba a few weeks ago at WW. It was mentioned in a weekly report. So, I saw the infomercial and ordered it. It came yesterday and I did the basic this morning. This is really ridiculous. Why do I have the urge to rush home and do it again. I just can't wait to get better.

Is there some type of hypnosis going on with this thing. How could I like it that fast? There is nothing in this world I have ever been hooked on like this. I totally want to spend all day doing Zumba. WOW!!! Totally loving it. I want to tell everyone about it, but I will exercise control for once and keep it to myself. At least until I get home. lol

I am totally exhausted. I work 3 jobs and last night I was so tired after my shift but there was a Zumba class from 8:30-9:30 and I couldn't resist. Even though I wake up at 4am and was on the verge of working a 60 hour week (Already worked 40 hours) I just had to go to Zumba. Now I am a complete zombie at work. It was worth it.

Yup! Me too. I've been doing it for a year now, and recently added a Zumba Toning class to the routine. My instructor has my email address, and has been known to text me when she has an impromptu class cuz she knows more likely than not, I'll find a way to be there!

I play Zumba music in the car, my young girls pretend Zumba around the house (too cute to watch, and just recently I've been toying with the idea of becoming an instructor maybe next year.
