Hi, I have recently read the book and was amazed by the insight as well as what it confirmed I've sensed. I am beginning to view my interactions with food differently.... I AM a thin, curvy girl turned huge after punishing myself/being slave to food for years and have subsequently paid the price being currently overweight by about 120 pounds. I'm in mid thirties & not feeling good about myself on so many levels. What most like about the book is that it addresses the roots of this all. I hope to stay connected here an make progress with you all. Looking for an increase in self-esteem and personal growth and to uncover the body I was given. May I learn to appreciate food as fuel and learn to treat myself kindly. Cheers, SY friends.

Oh my glory days, Naima--cant tellyou how happy I am to see you here. I am smiling big! However, it was a bittersweet thing for me, because I knew that for you to admit to needing the emotional stuff--you, at some point in the last little while might have had to hit rock bottom with the food. Hit rock bottom with the pain. And realized, as you were staring up at the stars that maybe, just maybe you have to approach the food from a different angle. I am so proud of you!!! Now, that being said-I want you to know, that while I am enjoing success right now, I am not in any way thinking that this is over now. My dragon in my head has gone from a fire breathing monster, to the dragon from Land Before Time..someone who is much easily taimed. And now, I am at peace--but without the constant vigilance--I am not sure where I will be. Each of us has our own journey for sure--and I just know that no matter what happens, you are safe here on this team, and you will feel better. It might not be today, or tomorrow or next week--but you have hope now. Honest. Now--Tiffany is right--our daily banter/discussion is over on : STARTING OVER DAILY CHECK IN HERE. My name is Naima. I recently read Shrink Yourself, but wasn't moved enough to follow through with the exercises. But after seeing the progress TRUEREINVENTED has made, I am going to give it another chance. I'm reading it again now.

My name is Ashley, and I did the SY online program in late 2010...around the time True & Jodie were finishing up there, so they know me. *waves* I'm hoping that now, I'm finally going to pull everything together, and figured it might be a good idea to hang out here.
Technically I'm an SY dropout, not an alumnus, since I never fully completed the web-based program. (I believe I'll be a very successful dropout though ;)). I found the first part of the set-up program lesson plan helpful, then in the middle I ran into some frustrations with it. I still consider it time and money well-spent, as I picked up some useful ideas, learned what better eating habits look and feel like, and spent a lot of time on the message boards there, where I received a lot of support and insight from some endlessly patient people there. I am still grateful to the members of that time - particularly Laura, Jodie & Susan (not around here these days, but maybe she'll read this sometime). Thank you so much.
I will stop now because this is getting too awards show-y.

Welcome Cat!! So happy you have joined us. With this kind of a thing, you have to be absolutely ready to connect with the issues, if you arent ready, it wont happen for you. Now, thats not to say that its a waste of time-its NOT--as we learn more about ourselves and our issues--we remember what we read and go OH YEAH...so THATS what this is! I have done the online program a few years back, and have read the book-a few times--and I am just now putting all the pieces together. JodieST has also done the online program and read the book too--we are both alumni. We mostly post in the forum "STARTING OVER DAILY CHECK IN HERE sticky notes' AND "DR. GOULDS BLOG LETS DISCUSS" too....so glad to have you!
Hello all! I'm new to the team, I tryed this book about two years ago but I felt it was accusing me of something (never made it to the chapter where the author talks about this situation) I have been working with my eating habits and I decided that I should give it another try. I can say that I'm ready now, I still kind of want to overeat an then purge but, i feel that i'm ready. I hope that by joining this team I feel even more motivated to change.

Hello!!! Tammy, Maida, Jodie and Jibbie! Welcome to the SY team. We are a small group, but I think its great that we all know that we have a few things in common!! One is that we are binge eaters, and the other is that we are familiar with the SY program. Tammy--I am sorry that you gained the weight back, but been there done THAT!! :) That was then this is now though-- and I believe that we DO have the skills to beat this thing. I have been binge free for over 55 days now and I am NOT 'white knuckling' it. I DONT WANT To binge...and thats a real breakthrough. Lets start, by reading the DR. G's BLOG--you can find that under the thread " DR. G's BLOG LETS DISCUSS...his latest one is about 'the diet pill' and how if we had that, we would STILL be fat...any thoughts on that??
Hello All, I'm Tammy. I've been struggling with binge eating for about 40 years. I bought Shrink Yourself about 2 years ago and never made it through the 1st chapter. 5 years ago I lost about 60 lbs and guess what....I've gained most of it back. I received the message from out new team leader a few days ago and decided it was a sign. Here I am, hoping I can beat this thing!

Hello everyone, my name is Maida. I tried Shrink Yourself back in 2010. I was reading the book and doing the exercises for awhile but like everything else I stopped and have not picked it up since. I am hoping with this sparkteam and your help I will be able to pick it up again and keep going. Also discussing the chapters will help me too.
