Just like you and Rachel, I didn't focus a ton on the calories at first - noticing, recording and changing how you deal with the emotions that drive eating and creating new tools and options for yourself take some time & practice and in the long run, will help you keep off the weight as you release it and become You 2.0!

Hello Rosie! Welcome to the Shrink Yourself thread. I like you, did not look at the scale or food for a long itme before I started my concerns with nutritional guidelines. I think looking at the emotional things first is a great way to go. Please jump in at any time with comments or questions or to share your experiences.

I am new to Sparkpeople and have heard many good things about the level of support here. I was surprised to find a Shrink Yourself group here too.
I am in the first intro week of SY online but will definitely sign up for the full program and I also ordered the book as a companion to the online version.
At this point I am NOT getting on a scale nor am I concerned about ANY numbers related to my actual weight. I am solely focussing on the emotional side of my eating, working the program and getting my "scale highs" from recognizing and conquering bad behaviors.
I am age 49, 5 foot tall and around 190-something pounds. I've battled my weight since around age 9 and now realize that I HAVE to go "back there" to end my eating issues of the present.
The last few days have been quite the ride already.
Sorry to hear that your current Team Leader has to give up her spot but GOOD for you for knowing what you can and can not handle and how to best choose what's right for YOU. Hope you can continue to visit and let everyone know how you're doing.
I'll check in now and again and look forward to this new leg of my journey and learning from all of you.
