Too early to say. I've only had the book about 8 months. I will say my awareness is always there- or much more than it used to be. Sometimes we like to turn those things off emoticon

I am about half way through the book, and It is life changing. It's like Dr. Gould wrote it just for me! I feel like I can FINALLY be free from the stronghold food has had over me! It's amazing!
I just found this spark team and thought I would join, since the book has been so amazing!

I pick mine up from time to time and just open it and read a section. Usually it seems to 'speak to me' whatever the topic is.

I too, thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It's a keeper.
I do plan to read it again as I want to reinforce the messages so I can combat this affliction I've had for a very long time. I really want to be done with emotional eating.
I just need to find better ways to deal with emotions...let them come and let them go.

Thanks, Jibbie, I'll look into those YouTube interviews.

Just like you I am treating my copy of Shrink Yourself as I would a school textbook. So many things apply to me I can't help but put down my side comments like WOW! and Do some thinking about that!!
It's the type of book I know I will be returning to time and time again when my motivation and inspiration runs a bit dry.

I have never been a Binge Eater, but I have loved this book, because ROGER GOULD, M.D. is so understanding of emotions. I've used a Yellow Marker in mine like a textbook, and have written notes and I'm reading it for the second time now.

YES, do get this book if you want to understand yourself more. It is NOT a "diet" book. Dr. Gould has interviews on YouTube and I suggest you search for him there and listen to what he has to say. He is a very sincere man.

Wow, I am so happy to see a team devoted to this book. I bought it about a month ago and it has been nothing but LIFE CHANGING. I have been a binge eater for 35 years now (since I was 13) and this is the first book to actually explain WHY I do it. This cognitive approach to releasing oneself from binge eating is absolutely amazing. A real Godsend.
Looking forward to meeting all of you, on the journey.
