I'm so glad you are here. Dr. Gould's book is one of the best I've read. He isn't harsh, but very kind about what we do to ourselves and WHY. He says we don't have a problem with LOSING weight, but KEEPING IT OFF and that is what he deals with. The fact that you lost the pounds and then GAINED THEM BACK, is just what he deals with, so you will LOVE the book, but it is difficult to "look" inside and face emotions. That is why we are all here to support each other.
Welcome! We are just about in the same place, although I haven't gotten to goal in nearly 15 years. But we are wavering around the same weight. I also signed up for the online Shrink Yourself. I realize now it was a bad time to do it because I had to have the foundation on my house repoured-was moved out and away from internet access, except for short bouts, for weeks. But I like the course. You may get all you need from the book and these boards. Good luck!

I've only recently realised I'm an emotional eater - I thought it was just lack of willpower and laziness. I've ordered Dr Gould's book from Amazon. I haven't read it yet, but I'm really looking forward to getting a handle on my issues.
I've reached goal twice before and immediately started piling the weight back on. I joined Sparks last November and gave up cigs in February. I've been "treating" myself with snacks as a reward for quitting, which obviously is the wrong thing to do.
So, it's time to get back on track and get to grips with why I sabotage my efforts.
