I just threw away the remainder of my candy (the main source of the junk/sugar cravings). I hate to waste it, but I hate the bloated, yucky feeling of it collecting at my waist (and the rest of me). The only thing I kept was the dark chocolate. Since all the reports I've read say it's good for you, I treat it like a vitamin. I've never been tempted to binge with it. I'm fine with having one piece and stopping with that.

I think not having it around is the most helpful because I tend to be an 'all or nothing'.

I have my spurts, too. Sometimes I can manage ok...especially if other people are around. I've also gone a whole month without it and was ok to start back (that was 12 years ago). I also went through a phase where I would only eat sweets within reason on the weekends and that worked ok for a while. More often than not, once I get started, I don't know where my stopping point is going to be and it becomes massive binge. That's what I'm struggling with at the moment. The past 2 days I've just made myself miserable with it. That's where I am now. I've decided I need to not have the sweet stuff in the house. If I don't start eating the junk, I don't have to convince myself when I need to stop.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and respond. Also, thank you for the welcome. I would definitely appreciate anything else that you think might be helpful. :)

Yep! Been there! It's hard to imagine living without it, but if you can go without for a couple weeks or a month, you may be able to allow yourself a little once in awhile. I've gone for a month at a time with no candy at all and then been able to have a piece or two now and then. If I start to binge, I just cut it completely again. Often I've found it easier to say no to the first one than the second or third.

Hello, everyone! After much frustration with myself and my sweet tooth, I have decided that I need to reach out for some support and encouragement from people in a similar situation. I have to the conclusion that I can no longer have sweets anywhere near me...not for a very long time if ever. It's an Achilles heel. I have had no self control. Anyone out there have similar feelings? How do you work through it?
