I will agree it is not easy at first...i walked into my first class 6 weeks ago and discovered I had the proverbial 2-left-feet.
Everything is done on a 4- or 8-step count BUT the taps are not part of that count -- my heavy foot hits the floor like a step which throws me off kilter/out of step with the rest of the group. Six weeks in I am just starting to get the hang of the basic steps. The class has a mix of levels and the instructor says we" ll get it eventually, just keep moving and it will happen.

My point is don't be afraid to keep going. I have a good instructor, I am working up a sweat every time, and I sm discovering which things I need to work on in terms of improving flexibility, etc.

Well, I did go to the class and followed it as best I could without the step. I found it really hard to follow some of the steps. I think I would have fallen on my seat if the step was inplace! emoticon I had never even seen anyone do it before and was in for a big surprise! It takes a lot of energy and know-how.
I think for now I will stick to aerobic for awhile. Maybe once I get some of the steps down from aerobic I will be better able to follow in the step class.

Actually I have never even seen a step class before, so tomorrow will be a very first for me. The instructor recommended I sit in on a class first to see what it is like before joining in.
So you advanced members have any hints for someone just starting?
I would appreciate hearing them!
