That's great. My ride is a Huffy hybrid probably of similar vintage to your Schwinn. A nice steady ride for running errands and riding to and from the office. Unfortunately, we've had too much rain lately for riding to the office.
Research is what I am doing when I dont know what I am doing.
Very surprised to find my topic still here! Rejoined SP in June 2013 and just now realizing of the cycling teams offered, Slow Riders fits me best . My current joyride is a stock vintage 1983/84 USA Schwinn Le Tour Luxe mixte that rides like a dream. It's fun to ride & makes riding fun again. Threw on some panniers and she's my go-to bike for now, while the roadies just hang in wait. August goal is to ride every day. So far, so good!
Bigtime road cyclist here too. I have a similarly versatile bike, the Specialized Tricross...not that I do any cyclocross. But it happened to be my local LBS staff's personal choice because of it's flexibility in using under various conditions. Good enough for him? Good enough for me!
I nailed over 2,000 miles last year and am hoping to go well beyond that this year. I enjoy a 20-mile round trip work commute in warmer weather. Rain and cold will keep me off the bike though!
My goal this year is to take my first multi-day road trip on my bike...not camping but traveling lite and staying at hotels or B & B's. Now: I have to decide and start really cooking up specific plans! :-)

Already a member of Girls Gone Riding, I just discovered Slow Riders! I've loved most everything cycling since my 1st bike at age 5. Raced BMX bikes in the '80s, rode mountain bikes several years, then found I really enjoy road riding and recreational trails. I have a few bikes, but my favorite is a Cannondale Road Warrior flat bar road bike set up for touring. At nearly 34 lbs. it's a great training bike and urban assault vehicle, ideal for errands and outdoor markets. My husband commutes by bike, so given the opportunity at the end of his workday I ride to meet him (downhill), then we share the ride home together (very uphill). We're both fairly fit, yet still fluffy, so all the pointers from SparkPeople help us maintain a healthy lifestyle. Looking forward to reading of others cycling adventures, as well as sharing a few of ours.
