Hi all,

Stumbled across this team while looking at all the options out there. My husband and I have a Streetglide and also a Sportster. We ride the glide..I love being a passenger--no stress compared to what he deals with as the rider.

DARLENE, thank you for your comments.

We are both getting there in age. I will be 74 next month and she is 2.5 years behind me. We try to stay as healthy as possible and we are both quite active. It must be the chia seed and flax seed and four to five fruit a day and eight glasses of water too.

Looks like our weather is going to take a break and be much milder the next few days.

I really don't know what they do RE, besides go on a lot of rides. I have to look into it
more. I will let you know tho....

I know the Northeast is getting some rough weather. We are supposed to be susceptible
to severe weather this weekend, so we are hoping to get the rest of the leaves raked
tomorrow. We started today but had to take my little old dog to the vet...

Hope everyone has their Christmas shopping done....I am excited like a kid. Got the house
all decorated, my daughter sent me some beautiful flowers in a china sleigh, red roses and
greenery and some mini carnations and daisies...simply beautiful....

RE, based on the picture of your bride, I believe you are exaggerating her age.....lol

So DARLENE is going to become a "Motor Maid" in 2014.

What do Motor Maids do? Do you have rallies or conventions? Is it a charitable organization that raises money to benefit someone in need?

Hi everyone....probably be having surgery next week so will be on here more than usual....
lol....really will curtail my riding....for a couple months anyway....is too wet, windy and chilly
to ride here...altho I am thinking of taking my bike in for service before surgery....then she
will be ready for after surgery riding....

I met some Motor Maids from the Birmingham club and they have invited me to join....
you have to ride and own your own bike.

Off to have a cuppa tea and try to finish up with my mail...

Blessings ya'll,

Wow, you posted on two of our forums! Thank you!. My wife has own ride and she is 72 years young. And her bike has a bigger engine than I do. She has a 2010 Ultra Limited with heated grips and I have a 2008 Ultra Classic Anniversary model. One of her previous bikes was a Softail and I believe she liked that the best and probably will go back to that before long.

I also have my first Harley-Davidson which was a 1993 Ultra and it had some engine problems. The cam deteriorated and damaged the engine which they covered and repaired. I now have over 93,000 miles on that bike.

Thanks for the welcome! My class is the weekend of April 20th, and I'm really looking forward to it. I have very little experience of my own, so this class is essential. I'm hoping we'll be able to go over some basics on the bike tomorrow, if the weather is nice enough.

I'm still playing around with the site. There are a lot of resources on here, so it make take a bit!

Good morning, SWEETS and thank you for noting my loss/maintenance. I am trying to maintain 205 and sometimes it creeps up to 210 and then it comes down to 202 - so it is back and forth. Some of this is fluid retention which I have a problem with.

Also, can you be of any further assistance to FLYTIME concerning her toggling of switches so other members can get into her SPARKPAGE. I think up in the top left of the START page there is account information that can be adjusted that will help her.

Welcome to the HARLEY WOMEN AND MEN TEAM! One of the first things you can do is go to my SPARK PAGE and make me a friend and you will see that toggle in the upper right hand corner of the first page.

You have a lot of options to check on the Set Up on the START page. It has been a while since I have looked at that page. It may take a little bit of time to get familiar with the SPARKPEOPLE web site.

The important thing is start logging your water, nutritioon and exercise and this will amazingly work for you.

I just read your post, and I'm not even sure what I have to do to connect!

I've been riding on the back of my boyfriend's Ultra Classic, but always wanted a bike of my own. I just bought a 2004 Sportster, but can't even ride it yet! I'm taking a basic motorcycle training class next month, and I'm so excited. For now, I just sit on my bike and dream!

PLANAR, if you go on line either with SPARKPEOPLE or Google or Yahoo and ask "benefits of Chia Seed" it will be fully explained what they are. I have visited a few sites concerning the benefits.

It is a soluable fiber that gels in liquid and a good source of Omega 3 fatty acids. I have three tablespoons every day and two of them are in a 6-ounce glass of apple cider which I stir in and give about 15 minutes to gel in the liquid. It is not as perishable as flax seed which has many of the same qualities. Flax seed has to be ground to be consumed and Chia Seed does not have to be ground.

Darlene, having any luck with the chia seed? There is something new people are talking about and that is Acia Berry or Acia Berry Juice from a palm tree in South America. Suppose to be making the super foods list, I guess, and whatever that means.

Darlene, I Yahoo(d) Chia Seed and found them. I was able to get them for $4.69 per pound when I was paying about $8.00 per pound in our super market. I use three tablespoons of chia seed each day. I put two tablespoons in a 6-ounce glass of cider each morning. Between my wife and I we are going through almost a pound a week. Good luck in your search.

Good to see you making the effort. Don't worry about posting or not posting. Do what you can when you can and try to stay positive. You should make every effort to log your nutrition, exercise and water. That is what is important and helpful to making you a successful SPARKPERSON. You gotta do it for your own good health.

Hello, I'm Theresa and new to this group.
I live in Murrells Inlet, SC, just south of Myrtle Beach, but grew up in Chillicothe, Ohio. I've been around bike rallies most of my life and love them!
I have a 2004 HD Sportster XL 1200 Custom, Glacier White Pearl, my favorite color.
This will be the third time in four or five years that I have tried to lose weight with SparkPeople.
Growing up my husband and I were both totally fit and very athletic. It is hard knowing what I used to be and comparing that image to what I see in the mirror. When the scales got stuck in the past I would throw in the towel and say "Oh well". But not this time, I think I have a lot of motivation to stick with it this time.
My HD is my dream bike and it has all the extras I wanted, my husband is about to buy his second bike which is also his dream bike, a Goldwing Aspencade. I hate that we will both have our beautiful dream bikes and look like big fat slobs when we ride. My hope is that by reading stories of life on their bikes and working to reach their own goals from the members in this group, it will continue to inspire me to work hard to reach for my goals. My husband is working to lose weight with me this time so hopefully that will also help. Best wishes to all of you as you work towards your goals and ride safe! emoticon

Yes sir I did all of that. I just found the spark points page and started doing the tasks. The food tracker is one of the most important things on Spark for me, because most of the health issues I have are weight related. I really need to keep track of what I eat. It is fairly easy this week, because I am on vacation. Next week will be the first test.

Hi everybody! I'm new to Spark and to this Team. I currently ride and '08 Road King Classic. I traded up from a Sportster 1200 Low, which was my first bike after about a 25 year hiatus from riding. I ride with two different clubs and like the longer rides (200-300 miles.)

When I die, I want to go peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather did, not kicking and screaming like the passengers in his car.

Welcome aboard our Team, MSKRIS7! I did retire from the U.S. Coast Guard in 1979 but we had a small business underway which we now have a strong passion to see continue even through this sluggish economy so true retirement, as long as we have our good health, is not an option. I have been riding motorcycles since I was 19 and my first Harley-Davidson was in 1993 when we bought a '93 Ultra and I still run it. It has over 90,000 miles on it. I also have a 2008 Ultra. My wife rides a Street Glide.

We look forward to hearing more from you. By the way we are coming up on our 50th Anniversary next August.

I have been married to my husband for 34 years and he has always been riding. We have built and bought many bikes. Have sold some that we kick our selves for doing so. We now have three that we have chosen for our old age. He is 64 and I am 62. I just jumped back on board with SP and Weight Watchers. I got rid of some old teams and choose some new teams. I am semi retired and my husband is retired. We live in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.

I was actually hooked when I was 16, and dated a guy with a big Harley.
Believe it or not, he was deaf but he could lay a hand on that bike and feel
if something was amiss and knew just what to do to fix it. I wanted one ever since.
I live in Alabama and we ride most of the year.....in the northeast where it is mountainous.

Thanks Darlene, My first bike was a Honda 90, back in 1968, I was hooked after my first ride. I currently live near the beach in Delaware and its a little tricky riding here, I have a near miss every time I go out, I moved from Gettysburg,Pa and I prefer the mountains over the beach.

We have another new member to our team GINANDJJ and apparently the last three new members have not toggled their SPARK page to allow anyone in. I did send GINANDJJ a SPARK mail message and maybe that will get through to them.

I am guessing they have set their page to private, unless they make you a friend.

We have a new Team member. We cannot communicate with this new member to welcome to the Team. The last three new members have been the same way. There must be something they are doing on their SPARK PAGE that makes it so we cannot connect.

If it would just quit raining and storming we would be riding. We are planning to make
sandwiches and a drink and ride up to Little River Canyon for Easter since the families
are either too far away or unassociable.....looking forward to it...
