Hi All
My name is Stephanie and I am happily married with 2 little ones ages 4 and 6. I am also a stay-at-home mom so we have one income. I am looking for ideas and tips to be able t eat healthy and lose weight on a budget. I try but never seem to get it right and with my husband recently diagnosed with high blood pressure we both need to lose weight and eat lower sodium.

Hi "mom". Sorry I didn't see your post till today. I'm glad you joined! I have found steel cut oatmeal and love it. I have also rediscovered beans and find them to count as protein, and veggies and fiber and good carbs all in one. When I start seeing and adhering to portions, the food $$$'s stretch. Now it is a matter of not over buying so things don't spoil. Buy dried beans and oatmeal is a real staple in my diet. I have really enjoyed this team.

I started sparking in mid October 2012 after my 50th birthday. My DH insurance company told me about it after they listedd my health issues ... one of which was obese. I had never heard anyone call me that out loud. It opened my eyes. I had tried to loss weigh since November of 2009 and over the course of almost 3 years I had wiggled down 35#, but spark jumpstarted it all with tools and knowledge that really is working. I'm close. To kissing 30# over the course of 4 months. I also got on some new meds in October that has helped manage the chronic pain I suffer from due to OA, so moving helps me with weight loss. I am a very frugal person and appreciate this team. I hope we can start buzzing with posts and excitement. Sincerely, Julia Welcome Rosie

Hi Everyone,
My name is Rosie and I'm recommitting myself to Spark People. I'm 27 and recently moved with my fiance to a new state. I joined this team because I am really struggling with my weight loss since the move and I have a feeling its because I have a hard time figuring out how to grocery shop on a budget.
I hope to get to know everyone and learn a lot.
Rosie

I love Aldi's for veggies and fruits and in the summer I have a garden. Pardon my stumbling around here, I'll get it figured out soon!

Hi Julia! Welcome!!!!! Counting portions is saving me lots of money. Fruits & veggies sure are expensive so I get mine either at a food bank or at our local Mexican market.

Hi all. I've been with sparkpeople 30 days. I just found your team today and it seems perfect. Eating all the recommended fruits and veggies a day could be very expensive. I have discovered a store named Aldi's which really helps my balance sheet so to speak. Measured food portions seems to be great too. I'm really looking fwd to learning from the team as well as sharing. Sincerely, Julia

Hi, All - I'm not new to SP but I just found this team today and thought I'd jump on board. I would like to get ideas from everyone on how they manage to eat healthy without spending a ton of money. I am always having to run to the grocery store for something and buying from the perimeter of the store is getting very expensive (produce, meats/poultry, dairy products.) I'd love to buy more organic foods but just can't fit it in the budget. Looking forward to sharing with all of you.

Hi all, Im Vicky I joined this team because I need help with shopping because my grams buys the food here. She spends most of the money on meat, bacon, box foods, starchy potatoes, onions, junk food, and pop. Me and my aunt try to make her buy better and healthier food but she says it costs to much. I hope after some help here she will finally listen to me ::FINGERS CROSSED::

Hi, I'm Elizabeth and... I don't cook. I haven't quite caught on to cooking and I would just like some help. I figured budget topics and teams would be one place to go for some support.
thank you.

I'm Midgie - been on the team for awhile, but not very "present".... I just had surgery in June; and won't be on such a hectic schedule for awhile - so I hope to be around!!! I'm 47 - married almost 27 years (next month). Our sons are grown - 25 and 22, and we have 3 beautiful grandchildren. Our oldest son lives with us, and we get to have our granddaughters @ 2 days a week. Our youngest and his fiancee and our 2 and a half year old grandson are going thru some rough times financially right now as well; so we're helping them out as much as we can.
So our budget does get down to a shoestring!

Hello TEAM,
My name is Kit, and I live in Southern California. Joined SPARK because as I grow older, I continue to add a few pounds each year! Just want to ensure that I maintain a healthy weight as I enter my golden years.
Also, just started a new job that pays significantly less than my previous job, so I am always looking for ways to save money!

Hello! This team looks like the one for me! I have a budget of 229 dollars a month to feed 3 people, one with a very active job so he needs a lot of calories and a very active 11 year old boy. This is driving me nuts because of how expensive healthy food can be! I will take anyone wanting to email me with ideas and suggestions especially for snacks in the house!
