Hi, I am AnnaMarie. I have recommitted to sparkpeople on January 1st of this year. I look at what a great resource this site is and I could kick myself that I haven't taken better advantage of it. This won't be the case in 2012.

I came to the Spark People website cause my best friend said hey wold you try looking at this site.. If you join I get 10 points. I thought well she is looking good and what is the worse that can happen? I look at it a couple of days and then quit. Well I love this site and come on daily. Most of the places I've actually written anything has been in the game room but I found this team and like it since I read most what people write in the blogs I thought I would just say Hi here.

I have not been as motivated as some of you all.
I am impressed with the weight loss many on our team have had. I have lost 5 lbs and have been very faithful to 180 minutes of exercise a week. I hope to at least hold my own through christmas and then get very serious in January. Pamie ;-)

Hi everyone!
I thought that I had introduced myself but after looking at all of the listings, I discovered that I hadn't! I've really gotten the hang of things these past 3 months since I joined Spark People. I've been tracking my food every day as well as my exercise. I'm loving the message boards, blogs, Monthly Challenges, Spark Page comments and email encouragement. This has been a fabulous experience for me. I'm making slow but steady progress and I'm starting to feel really good about myself! It's like being given my life back.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the team. Now I'm not saying that I'm a procrastinator, but I do tend to take a bit of time with things, which is why I'm joining the SP Class of August 08 here in October!! So far I've grown and learned SO much with SP and I am eager to see what sort of progress others are making who joined around the same time I did 2 months ago. I look forward in getting to know you!
Blessings,
Hazel

Its kind of funny that you said that, "getting rid of your old clothes hoping it would make you start losing weight," I did the same thing! It didn't work for me either LOL!!!! We are here to help one another. The support is great too!

thank you so much for the kind words. I went from a size six to a size 12. I have no clothes that fit except for the few things that I have bought. I finally got rid of all of my old things hoping that would "make" me start losing weight due to bad luck. haha... It didn't work. So, out with the old and in with the new. Lifestyle changes, here I come.....

Hi finally getting around to introducing myself. I am Wendi and am a stay at home mother of two. I haven't always stayed home and found it quite an adjustment- enjoyable and wonderful, but a big change just the same. I lost a dear friend to suicide and started taking an antidepressant. While I was taking it, I gained around twenty five to thirty pounds. I had always been petite and never had to work out before. I had always been able to eat pretty much what I wanted, so I have been at a loss as to what to do to lose weight and totally undisciplined in my eating. No longer on the antidepressant and working out and TRYING to eat better. Wish me luck!!!! So far I am loving sparkpeople. It is the only thing that has kept me on track so far.

Hi everyone! I signed up a while ago, but am only now getting around to many of the features.
I am a 25 year old currently living in another country (from the States). After the many 'going away' parties and dinners and definitely after the first few months here (STRESS, Culture shock, plus completely different foods and diet, and lets not forget- emotional eating!). I have found myself needing to lose quite a bit of the added weight!
I'm hoping that this site will help me get motivated (and stay motivated!) and find unique ways to shed some pounds! Good luck to everyone!

I actually applied for a side job at an ice cream place since I was such a loyal customer. Fortunately (for me) I didn't get hired. Unfortunately, (for them) I'm not such a great customer any more after joining SparkPeople. Haha!

Haha oh it was so tough working there.. it was my 6th summer and every single summer I would always weigh 5-10lbs more at the end.. so since we are finally closed for the season I can begin to eat healthier.. or that is the plan at least =)

Welcome Maria!
I used to want to work at an ice cream shop when I was a teenager! I never did, but I always thought it would be a fun summer job. Now I could never do it! I couldn't stay away from the ice cream! Love it!

Hi Maria, emoticon to the group. You must have very good will power to have worked all summer in an ice cream shop. I'm afraid I would have eaten my pay in ice cream and then had to deal with the aftermath weightwise!

Good luck this year in school and know that we are here to help you in your journey to a healthier life.

Hi everyone! My name is Maria. I am 21 years old and in my senior year of college. I, like everyone else, joined sparkpeople almost a month ago. I just recently started following this team and decided I would like to be a part of it. I worked at an ice cream place all summer so I had a horrible time not eating ice cream. Tomorrow is the last day for the season so I feel like I am definitely ready to eat healthier. I have had a regular exercise schedule for the past 2 weeks which I'm hoping I can stick with. I look forward to all the support and motivation this group brings!! =)

Hello everyone I am Kim from Arkansas. Even though I started this site time everyone else did I had something happen with my foot and was off of my feet for 3 weeks and so I was just barely able to start the program. I have been exercising and eating right for 2 weeks now. My goal at first was to get down to my perfect weight which I thought was 125 but I guess I am bigger boned so I am actually healthy at 145. Which seems alot more reachable at this point! lol I look forward to add support and getting support from my team members! :)

Wow... I had to go back through all the introductions to see if I checked in. What an amazing bunch of people.

My name is Joy and I am not new to Spark... but returning with a fresh new attitude. I am 52 years old and have now have 100 pounds to lose.

I have lost 5 pounds in the last few weeks, just by being a bit mindful of what I eat and doing some extra walking.

Now that I am going back to work after 2 1/2 months off for foot surgery I am ready to get back into the routine of taking care of my body, mind and spirit.

Take care,
Joy emoticon

Becky, we are all behind you. If you are exercising a lot you might be adding muscle which will weigh more than what you are losing. So don't give up! Hang in there! I know you will meet your September goals.

Hi! I am a fairly new member to Spark. I've been diligently keeping track of my food journal and exercise journal for about a month now and I've only lost about 4 lbs. I may be gaining it back. I need your help team mates. Lets get going and get motivated!
Wish me luck, I'm going to strive to complete all of the daily goals for the month of September! 20 lbs. to lose by November 22.

Hi Everyone!
I joined on Aug. 7th but became active this week. I have been looking for this group and finally found it!! I think it is nice to have everyone who joined at the same time together in a group - we all learn together.

I am 63, work full time and a widow since I was 49. I have two grown children who live out of state. I have had a life long problem with my weight and decided that I am tired of dealing with it - it has to go now! I lost 22 lbs. between Feb. and July and I have lost one this week since actively keeping track of what I eat, etc. I think SP is what I need to finally achieve my goals.

I look forward to this journey with everyone else who joined the same time I did.

Hi. I'm a 34 year old with 2 little boys. I joined SparkPeople a few weeks ago, but haven't gotten around to writing on here yet. I don't have a lot to lose, and am generally pretty athletic. Just very inconsistent (read emotional) with my nutrition. I needed someone to keep me accountable and identify with! Hopefully this is the place.

I joined SP in August and haven't gotten around to introducing myself. Recently clothes were fitting a little tighter than usual and my niece told me about this website. I eat healthy all week, walk daily and over-indulge on the weekends. Weekends are out to dinner with friends and having a couple of cocktails.

Hi all!

Hope everyone is doing well. I joined SP in early August, but I didn't really get around to looking more into it until today. I'm decided to start my new lifestyle beginning of September, along with the new school year of my eldest daughter.

I also have 2 younger kids (all girls). I haven't been able to shake the extra pounds from the pregnancies. When I do lose some, I manage to gain them back again in no time! My main problem (I think) are portion sizes and ..... CHOCOLATE!!! I'm hooked on sugar!

Anyways, hopefully, I'll be able to stick to it this time. This site seams really complete and full of support... Thanks for being there! :)

Hi everyone, I'm Maria. I officially signed up to SP August 5th, but it took me awhile to really take advantage of what it had to offer and to actually decide that I wanted to change the course of my life.
I'm 28, currently not working but waiting to hear from the university I am hoping to transfer to.
I am a widow of 2 years, no kids, no pets. I moved home after my husband died and that's where I am now. It's been a difficult life lately, but I know that I can't let it define me forever. So far since starting SP I've lost 5 pounds.
So I guess I'm doing really well - and looking forward to getting involved in this month's challenge!

"The main 'enemy' of motivation, therefore, is the tendency to see yourself as the hapless victim of forces or urges over which you have no control, whether that force be a chocolate donut or the vast cultural apparatus that defines attractiveness in ridiculously unrealistic terms." - SP Coach Dean

Hi-
I read your post and I can totally relate to you. I've also been yo-yo dieting for years. Finally said to myself, "Enough is enough!" I want to finally be able to go to the pool with my kids and not be hiding under a cover-up! I also have two kids...5 years old and 8 months old. They keep me busy, so finding time to work-out is a challenge, but I've been doing really well. I wish I could get up at 6 am before they do, so I don't have an excuse that I won't have the time. Anyway....good to hear your story. Good luck! We have to keep our focus on the end result!!

Petra,
You can do it hon! This is the place for support, I've gotten lots of it here. Being present to what I am eating and how it makes me feel has been a big change for me. I'm learning to look in the mirror sans revulsion. Feel free to message me.

I know what you mean. I had to make up my mind, to make up my mind. All I can say, is track, track, track. Be honest, it is a real eye opener. You can do this, just take one step at a time. Start with tracking just to see what it is that you are eating.

Hi all,

Joined SP a couple of weeks ago but haven't done anything with it. Just stumbled upon this discussion board and decided to join. I am a new grandmother and want to get healthy for my family. I need all the support that I can get. I have tried to do this--lose weight on my own but can't seem to get the mind set. Hopefully, all of you can help me get my head on straight.

Good afternoon. I just wanted to take a few moments to introduce myself. I signed up for SP on 8/4, but left for vacation a few days later. I feel like today is my official "first day". I'm a married mother of two (ages 4 & 6) and I have a long history of yo-yo dieting. I'm ready to drop the weight once and for all. I want to feel good about myself and have the strength and energy to keep up with my kids. SP looks to be exactly what I need to get moving in the right direction.

Hi,
My name is Nancy and I am from Illinois. I am a widow and have a daughter who is in college. I have used spark people for tracking and articles before but just joined teams and I see why people who use that support do the best. I feel like I have an army with me when I make those crucial decisions. Thanks for being here and helping each other... I promise to be here for you too!

Just do it.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Sara, and I learned about Sparks from a co-worker. I joined on Aug 8th but didn't really start working with it until Aug 13th. I love it already! emoticon It is so easy to use. I love that you can tell if you are eating a balanced diet in additional to the correct number of calories. Best wishes everyone!

Hey all!

I joined awhile ago but just found the team yesterday. I am so glad to know there are others just starting this journey and that we can support each other!

I am a teacher in central pennsylavnia, married, 26, two pets. I should be really happy with my life but I can't stand looking at myself in the mirror most days because of how much I weigh. I've always (almost) been overweight and have struggled to lose even a little. I lost a lot when I started high school but put it all back on when I got to college and even more when I got married. I haven't weighed in since I started on SP but plan to on Sunday. My clothes feel different so I am sure I've lost something.

Good luck to everyone on their goals! Have a great day! I'm glad to be here!

Hi everyone,

How are you doing today?

I joined around the 5 of this month and never introduced myself to our group. I'm looking forward to finally using some college weight and get back to living a healthier life since I'll be graduating in the Spring of 2009. Hoping to lose about 20 or 30 lbs by Christmas.

Good to hear that everyone has the motivation and some support. I know I have found great support already and love the site.

Hi all! I've been tracking things for several days and am beginning to get the hang of it. The size of these teams is kind of overwhelming, but I'm hoping for a way to get connected. Getting a little exercise has made me feel so much better. I just printed off a bunch of recipes, so I'm off now to try to find something my family will eat and shop!

Have a wonderful day in the Lord!
