Well, I have to tell you, guys aren't usually known for their motivation in these types of areas. Some are good at support (which it sounds like yours is)...and that's always a huge PLUS!!
I do understand ur addiction to video games. While my addiction is to reality tv, I understand how you feel. Cutting back is a great idea, no one wants you to give up the things that you love. And in fact, it would be detrimental to your success if you did.
A few suggestions however.
1. Dr. Pepper (and any regular soda for that matter) is loaded with empty calories...so perhaps consider switching to Diet Dr. Pepper, or at least switching out some of your soda with water or perhaps some flavored water (I highly suggest Crystal Light). Also, with any kind of soda with caffeine...the crash after the caffeine wears off can cause you to feel even more sluggish than before, which can be detrimental to your efforts to move more.
2. Snacking has always been a problem of mine as well. I would suggest trying popcorn, pretzels, fresh fruits and veggies, and low calorie popsicles instead of chips and candy. And if you can't rid totally of your chips, candy, or whatever other "bad" foods you like to snack on...I would suggest dividing them into serving sized portions and putting each serving into a zippered-sandwich bag. With these small servings in individual bags you'll know exactly how many servings you've eaten...and it might deter you from over eating on these types of foods.
3. Might I suggest taking breaks throughout your "video game spree" and going for a walk around the block. Even 10 minutes of walking can really add up!!
I hope this helped, and if you ever need anyone to talk to, vent to, or need advice, send me a message!!
