I really do like this site, I stay on it all day long, that way when I eat something, I don't forget to add it. Plus there are soo many things to read about, and learn here too.

I also joined in June but really just began this week. I love all the features on SP. It's amazing to track your foods and really see the calorie, carb and fat intake.
I am starting off a little slow. I need to pick up the pace!

Hi guys, I'm also new. I joined Sparkpeople on June 18th and couldn't really get my act together until recently. First, we went on vacation and then I had a root canal. No wonder it took me awhile. LOL Anyway, I'm back in control and really want to be part of the class of June15-21, 2008.

Hi everybody I'm Delia. I joined SP on June 16. I belong to a number of teams and didn't stumble on to this one until today. I trust that us fairly newbies are still enthused about using the fantastic tools offered to us by this website.
May our journey be prosperous and may we continue to lose weight and gain friends.
Many blessings to you all.

I just started yesterday and am excited to finally lose this weight so I can be healthier and enjoy my family of 5. I have three sons who are very active in sports but two of them really need to lose weight too. I have been a very bad example and want to turn it around, cause I know it is never too late!!!
Wow, you have done great for the small amount of time you have begun SP. Have you been faithful filling out the trackers every day. Do you use the programmed menus or do you add your own?
Looking forward to working with all of you!!!

Hi All,
Although I have been lurking for a while, this is my first post. My wellness coach at the YMCA told me about Spark and I love it! I find it very motivating. I look forward to sharing success with everyone. I am a yo-yo dieter, so since I do not consider this a diet, hopefully I will be more successful with maintaining weight loss this time. Good luck to everyone!

Hi everyone!
I joined SP on June 18 but haven't been on this team's message board much. I'm going to try to read and post everyday. I found SP by accident on the net and what a great accident it turned out to be! The website is so great and the people are all so positive and supportive of one another. This is a great community to be apart of. I look forward to reading your posts and celebrating all of the goals we will achieve together.

Hello everyone!!
Just wanted to introduce myself. I am back to SP after a hiatus - I was pregnant. During that time, I really let myself go. The baby is six weeks old now, and I am ready to get back on track. Although I gained back a lot of weight, I am still less than when I originally started SP.
I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Hi. I signed onto the site last week but have been so busy with school I haven't had time to look around. But I'm done with school in four weeks and am ready to start losing weight! I've been "heavy" all my life and after having my first baby I went over 200lbs and decided it was time to do something about it.
One small step at a time. Nothing great ever happened overnight.

Hi my name is Anne. I joined last Monday, the 16, but I am finding this site a little less user friendly than some others. I actually found it by accident. In terms of my attempt to lose weight I love it.I have already lost a pound and with my crazy schedule that's not easy. I started the exercise program today and it wasn't hard to do. I have almost 70 pounds to lose, but I feel like I'm finally going to be successful.

Hi All, I just joined SP on the 21st and got started on my path to healthy living on the 22nd. I live on Cape Cod, MA and really need to get back to a healthier me. Tim Russert's passing really shook me as I lost my older brother a few years ago at the same age as Tim was. Being in my 40s I figure I better get myself healthy now. Eating right, getting back into exercising, and in the process of doing those two things hopefully losing some weight (to get my waist size back to half my height at least). I have been unemployed a year now and feel like I need to get some control back in my life. Being healthier might not hurt in the job hunt either. I also make and sell silver jewelry, and have been hesitant to go show my work to gallery owners because I have not felt confident about my "image". Maybe this will help. Having used other online diet programs in the past that were not nearly as much fun as SP seems to be, I am hopeful that this will help me fix my poor eating habits for the long term. So far I have to say even adjusting my calorie intake down I feel stuffed after following the meal plans for 2 days! Looking forward to a health life style! Gale

Hi, I'm Lori. I joined last week, but really have not had a chance to check things out yet. I need to do something!!!!! I have gained and lost weight my entire life. I am at my heaviest and do not like what I see in the mirror. I'm generally a positive person, but when it comes to taking care of myself and even believing that I can lose weight and be successful at exercise, I have a huge brick wall to climb. I really need help and support as I do not get that at home. I'll keep trying to figure this site out. It is overwhelming! Thanks and I look forward to really immersing myself in this!

I joined last week too, but did not add my info. My name is Lexie. I am almost 56 (next month), a mother of 5 and an elementary school librarian. This is a great site with so much information! I gained a lot of weight over the past two years. I was in an online cohort for my Master's Degree which tied me to the computer from January of January 06 to December of 07 including summers. So no I want to get those pounds off again. Hopefully this summer vacation will get me on track to do that. I'm am excited to read about others having good results with this program.

Hi, I'm Melissa. I joined on the 19th or 20th but didn't find this team thing until today. I'm 29 and I have over 100 lbs to lose. I can't even wrap my head around that so I've broken it up a bit; my first goal is to get to 235. I've been overweight my entire life and have tried basically every diet program there is. They've all worked. For a little while. Usually, just until I realized that I LOVE freedom and eating what I want and enjoying food more than I HATE being overweight. So, I guess that's my biggest challenge.

Hi! I'm Aimee from Texas. I'm 34 years old and mom to two beautiful boys ages 6 and 2. I need to lose about 30 pounds. I have never had problems with my weight until my youngest was born. After that, something shifted, and suddenly I was gaining weight like crazy. It has been very hard for me because I had always been very thin and never had to worry about what I ate. I joined SP a year ago but didn't stick with it - so now I'm back with even more weight to lose... UGH! This is day 3 for me, and so far, I'm doing pretty well. I still have so much to learn about making better food choices, though!! The calorie calculator is a real eye-opener!

Hi, I'm Tami, 47, married, and joined on Friday, June 20th. I was looking for answers to help me change for the better and lose over 100 lbs. SparkPeople showed up. YEAH!!! I had joined WW and liked their site, but I can't afford it, Big Loser's Club looked interesting, but canceled it because I can't afford it either. It's not that it's not worth it or anything, it's that I don't have enough in the budget to go that far, especially with gas costing more and more each week....I used to be a stressed out admin assistant for busy executives, and needed to have time for me, so I could find how to live a healthy life. I became a School Bus Driver, and love it! Best of all it's what gave me the freedom to have time, and to have hope in doing what it takes for me to lose 100 lbs. I'm so thankful to be here.

Hi. My name is Cathy and I am here because this is my last shot. I have PPH which is a breathing condition and a very scarry one. I can't exercise because I can't breathe and I can't breathe because of my lungs. Anyway, my daughter and her friend joined and it seems to be going well for them and I just want to feel better. I am retiring soon and I want to enjoy life. I guess that is pretty much all I can say.

Anyway, I'm 24, 5'9", 177lbs.
I used to be 21, 5'9", 150-155lbs. :-P
I think I played too much beer pong and graduated college...which then gave me a desk job and no longer was I walking back and forth to classes.
I'm pretty sure that's where everything went wrong.
But it feels so hard sometimes to go back to what I was.

Hi all... I'm new to the team, and was even hesitant to join because I was initially hellbent on keeping my "lifestyle changes" to myself, but that it was I have always done when trying to lose weight -- I've never looked for support before, therefore, my success has generally been short-lived or non-existent all together. So, I'm taking the plunge, and I have some really amazing motivation too: I was accepted into the New York City Marathon, which is slated for November 2, 2008. I'm hoping to lose 20 pounds by then and be on track to keep up the healthy lifestyle. Best of luck to everyone else and their endeavors!

I am Christie from WV. I am 36 years old, married with 2 children, Nick - 9 and Catie - 11 weeks. I had gastric bypass surgery 5 years ago and broke my back shortly after that in a car accident. I went from 250 down to 102. I was really sick then and lost the weight too quickly. I am back up to 156, but still happy with myself because I have been maintaining this weight for a couple of years. I just had my daughter and have decided to get healthier and lose some extra weight.
I would appreciate any encouragement that is available. If there is something that I should be doing, please let me know. I signed up yesterday and plan on starting my diet on Wednesday. I have to visit my grandmother Sun - Tues so it wont be a good idea to try to start a routine with me not home.
Talk to you all soon
~Christie~

Hi to everyone! I'm Konnie and I'm from Texas. I've been an in home childcare provider for 18 years. I've lost a lot of weight in the past, just had trouble keeping it off. You know, you fall back into those old habits, especially when stress hits! Now, at 47, my doctor is telling me I need to get serious about doing this for my health. So here I am and this time it's more for my health and well being then looking good in pair of jeans. (Although that's a nice benefit too!) I need all the encouragement I can get. Thanks

Hello!
I'm new (again) to Spark People, and I seriously want to get involved and stay involved and hopefully lose 45 pounds and a little bit of hip pain in the process.
I look forward to getting to know you all!
Do your best and let go of the outcome.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Rosemary and I am back here at Spark after a too long hiatus. I keep working on this weight thing then life happens and I let my emotions get the better of me and off the wagon I fall...Not going to give up, although I almost did that last year. I'm glad to be back at Spark and pray that I'll make the life style changes more permanent. Vocationally, I am a teacher of special needs students. I am single and the caretaker for my legally blind 85 year-old mom. I enjoy reading scripture and listening to all kinds of music. (When to a Bob Dylan concert last month - AWESOME! I saw that some of you are from central MA - anyone from SPENCER?) I hope to get and give support on this team.

Hi, I'm Zach. I'm 24, and finally serious about getting healthy to avoid the horrible health issues in my family. I have about 111 to drop to be at a weight I'd feel healthy at. I've got high-normal BP and slightly elevated LDL levels, so that's another couple things to nip in the bud. I'm going to have to learn how to get enough calories without going over, because my first few days, I've come in well under my range. I'm currently using Dance Dance Revolution workout mode for aerobic exercise, and looking to put together a strength plan. Glad to be here.

Hi I'm Victoria and I just joined today. I want to lose at least 24 pounds and see my feet again :) I'm a chronic procrastinator with a killer sweet tooth to top it off so we'll see how it goes. This site is a great motivator and I'm still learning how everything works around here.
Wish me luck!

I'm glad you figured out yous were from anxiety and can work to fix it....don't be nervous, we're all here for similar purposes....Good luck with everything and if there is anything i can do to help let me know

Hi Kris, I'm Rose, and I just joined today, mother of three, had chest pains about a month ago because of stress. Dr told me that if I didn't start exercising again he wanted to talk about anxiety meds. I have never posted before, so I'm feeling a little nervous. I started walking, which lead to a couple of days of running but have discovered at my activity level and weight, that I am not getting enough calories. So I'm hoping this will help me keep track of my calories and ensure that I take in what I need.

Hi I'm kris, mom to Amber (5) Holly (3) and petie (9 months) I am looking to get healthy and lose about 66 pounds. I have recently started having chest pains and have been through many tests, and all have come back normal. I have to discuss it with my dr. but now I am thinking it might be due to my weight gain since having my last baby. I am currently at the heaviest i have ever been. I have an appointment on Monday with my dr and I plan on discussing my weight as a possible resaon for the pains, so we'll see what he say.

Hi everyone! My name is Jaclyn. I'm about to turn 27 and I want to be fit for when I finally turn 30! I don't want to be an overweight 30 year old! I want to be the fittest I've ever been.. So here I am. I'm not new to Spark, but I decided to start fresh and so I created a new name. I've lost 12-15 lbs with spark and I want to keep going!

Hello,
Today is my first day of Spark, and this is my first post. I actually had not heard of this site previously, but a friend introduced me to it because she knew I was having a tough time. I am 32 years old, and I got married last year. Since my wedding, I have gained back 21 pounds, unfortunately. I have always turned to Weight Watchers in the past, and though I think that is a wonderful program, it is not for me right now. I like the idea of being accountable for a healthy reflection of my intake and output of calories, so I look forward to joining!

Hello, my name is Alesa. I hit my highest weight ever in January and decided that I have to do something. I also decided that it has to be for me and not for anyone else. I am not comfurtable being over weight and it gets in the way of things that I want to do. So it is time to do something about it. Sense January I have lost 35 lbs. I would like to get to 135 lbs. I am glad to meet you all.
Never give up. If you do you are only giving up on youself.

Hello everyone, My name is Kristy and I've joined Spark because I need to start being healthy again. I moved to Kentucky last year and since the move have gained 20 lbs of "happy fat" since living with my bf and 2 mini daschunds. I'm a nontrad student (I'm 27)at Western Kentucky University, so it's hard for me to get regular meals and exercise in. I'm hoping to get more of a routine with all of it by joining spark. So far, I love it!

I am new too and am feeling incredibly empowered that I can lose weight and become more healthily by taking lots of small steps. It has been overwhelming to me for a long time - that I used to be so fit and healthy and that I now have 75lb to lose. Here, though, feels a safe and supportive place and for the first time I really feel I can do this. So I am very happy that I jumped aboard.

Here we go...
I am almost 30 and have 30 pounds to lose...I am starting a new job this fall and would really like to feel good in my work clothes. Plus ,I would like my husband to look at me like he did when we first started dating :-) I've been "trying" to lose the weight for a long time now, without ever really succeeding, but also without making any dramatic changes to my lifestyle...so I'm not surprised that I haven't been successful. Maybe joining this community will make me feel accountable to others, and improve my motivation. I'm looking forward to talking with other people in the same boat, and getting lots of inspiration! Here we go...

Hi, I'm Lisa. I'm a single mom of 3 kiddos. I'm so excited to have found SparkPeople. I have about 120 pounds to lose. Health is my priority because not only do I want to be an example for my kids but I need to be around to see them grow up. I do have a few health issues such as high cholesterol and anxiety/panic and I'm very suceptible to diabetes. This website has given me so much motivation to change my life. I've met so many nice people already and can't wait to to get to know so many more.

Hi, all! I am re-joining Spark after an absence. I guess I just lost my gumption and gained all of my weight back. I really need to lose weight to keep my health from deteriorating. Heart disease and type 2 diabetes runs in my family and I now have borderline high blood pressure. I know that losing weight will help these issues.
I am married and have 2 sons. One of which is mildly autistic. I teach high school full time, so I guess you'd say I have a pretty stressful life.
Anyway, I am excited to be back on program! I even worked out today--30 minutes of water aerobics nearly killed me(I am so stinkin' out of shape)!

And yet another newbie checking in. I just joined today, and I'm trying to figure out how all of this works. I am 32 and had my first child last February. I am still carrying around some of that baby weight. I started training for a marathon last Fall thinking that would help with the weight loss. I found that the more I ran the more I justified eating whatever I wanted to eat. I know if I can keep the exercise up and get my food intake in balance I will be on the road to a better me. Looking forward to the journey ahead with all of you.

Another newbie :) I'm trying to get back on track after seeing some progress last month (down almost 5lbs), and now almost all of it is back on. Not a lot right now, but also not a good cycle to get on. It's hard because I love to bake and love the finished product, so I need to learn smart snacking. I also need to carve time in my day for myself to exercise!

My name is Denise and I live in Ontario, Canada. I joined Spark 2 days ago and I'm thrilled with having found this website to help me track my food intake, calories & fat. I really needed a "SPARK" to ignite my motivation to eat healthy foods!

Hi I joined this morning so I could start tracking my calories on the advice of my sister in law. My name is Jenni and I am 37, mother to twin 3 year olds (boy/girl) and married to my childhood sweetheart (we met when I was 16). I lost a lot of weight after the twins were born and was starting to feel good about myself, when at the beginning of this year I broke my ankle and dislocated my foot. Two surgeries later I still limp and have a swollen leg and pain when I walk. Thanks to this (and some pity eating!) I have put back on 26 lbs from my lowest and when I stood on the scale this morning I wanted to scream. I have recently started swimming as it is something I can do that does not bother my leg, but I really need to get motivated to lose this weight - I dont even like to have my picture taken with the kids as I look so fat. Hopefully I can find the support and encouragement here to keep the lbs dropping now!
