I did start riding my bike last year. That was fun too. My brother lives across the country and he was training for a bike race so I would try to ride as much as him. LOL I have 3 boys 17-15-9 and his kids are all out of college. Some days he was on his bike 5 hours. I am thinking that is not possible for me and my family. But it was fun to talk to him about biking all the time.

I have asthma too and I am trying to run again.
I have my asthma under control but I have knee problems. Yesterday I did run the treadmill 12 minutes at 5 mph which equal 1 mile. I have been as high as 5 miles but I guess I have to work up to it.

Well, to get inspired to get moving, find something you enjoy doing and just do it! If you don't know what you enjoy, try some different things out. Maybe you like skating, or skiing, or karate, or group exercise classes, or biking, or hiking, or running, or dancing, or playing Wii, or any number of different things. For me to get inspired to lose weight, I tried karate (2.5 years ago) and am still at it. But after the first couple of months, karate inspired me to not just lose weight, but to get into shape.

I have taken up bike riding and loving it...something I hadn't done in umpteen years since I was a kid....last year, after only 1 month of riding, I did a 31 mile bike ride. This summer, I plan on doing a century ride....for no other reason that to be able to say "Heck ya! I rode my bike 100 miles all in one day!"

I have a hard time running due to asthma....but today I rode the stationary bike at the gym 11 miles...I was feeling good after that and I walked a lap around the indoor track, and then ran 3 laps, walked another, and ran one last lap. (The track is 16 laps equals a mile). Not a big deal to most, but a huge deal to me....I ran 3 laps in a row! That's a record for me...the most I ever did before that was 2! So in that I have found inspiration...maybe running isnt a hopeless cause after all...next week I'll aim for 3.5 laps, maybe even 4!

The point is, for me anyway, inspiration comes from "doing" not from "searching" or "looking" or "wondering"...it comes from actually going out there and doing my best and pushing myself and if I get bored with something, finding new direction.

I do apologize if I got a bit carried away, I just hope you find your inspiration very soon :)

Hi. I am actually looking for motivation myself. I am active on SP and lost 25 lbs in 2008 and maintained it off but it is now time to get going. My first motivational tip for you is get active on SP. Blogging - comments stuff like that.

Hello! I came across S.P. while looking for some inspiration to loose a few pounds online.
I live in the U.K. and although some of the recipes etc are slightly alien (measurements and so forth) I'm hoping that S.P. will inspire me to have some will power.
I have taken the plunge to post a message after reading S.P. e-mails for several months but not actually doing much to keep fit - I am promising myself that I will try harder!
