Hi Toni,

You are right on this decision being based on a lot of information and thought. I am so limited in what activity that I can do because of all of the damage in my back. I have worked hard here at SP, but I cannot get the right activity in to support my weight loss and according to the info I have read, my age now makes it harder to lose weight as well. My pain management doctor suggested it and I checked in with my cardiologist, my primary care doc, my physical therapist, my psychiatrist, my rheumatologist, my orthopedist and my neurologist and they unanimously approved it. I have spent hours with the dietician and in the bariatric clinic here. I have their support group and my current psychologist to work with me as I go through some of the biggest changes in my life.

I am doing okay with the liquid diet, but after I get my walking in, I amreally hungry. I need more than this, but I think this is a preparation for the surgery both physically and emotionally. I didn't feel any of this until yesterday, the one week mark. I get to do a countdown now, so hopefully that will help. I'll tackle extra popsicles if need be, but I won't mess this up. Thanks for the good wishes, they mean a lot.

Hang in there. you are doing a good job. The cravings are not going to go away unfortunatly. Good luck to you on your surgery. I am sure this was not a decision made lightly.

Hi,

I made the big decision to have weight loss surgery and have been really involved in all of the necessary activites this past few weeks. My surgery is in a week and since a week ago today, I have been on this loquid diet that includes 3 cans of slimfast and clear, calorie-free liquids. I have done okay and haven't even craved anything in particular, but tonight, I am so hungry. The strange thing is what I want--any random, chewy meat. I don't want chocolate or a dessert or pizza--I just want some kind of meat--chicken or beef or pork. I think I need to feel full, I have been working so hard and today is the first day that I missed my workout in the pool. I just needed to rest tonight after work. I hope that I handle this all correctly.

Thanks for letting me share,
Sylvia

Thanks Toni for your support ... I know I made many steps forward, so I should focus on that and keep going ... at the end I'm happy that this time and I didn't let myself down ... that's a progress right!? ... little by little I'll do it, I'll become a naturally thin person! :)

Don't beat yourself up... since this is a "lifestyle" part of life is the little slips. The important thing is to let it go and move on. We all have days that we are going to eat the things we "shouldn't" little by little it will be easier. I too have been struggling with eating more of something because it taste good instead of eating it slower to enjoy the flavor longer....

Why is this binge-eating eating me??? I was doing so well lately!!!
I bought some lactose-free waffels (thinking that I will have to control myself and eat only one a day max) but no I started with one and then a second and a third ... and I was full already but had to fnish the pack of 6 ... why? to punish me?
I know that when I have my period I've some cravings sometimes, and this morning I packed many fruits and veggies but today it didn't work ...
I knew I didn't have to buy that, I knew!!!

One good way to get more fruits or vegetables in, is to mix them together. I made my own vegetable soup, last week. This way , you get all of your servings of vegetables. I also do similar with fruit, sometimes. I add peaches, (can be canned, like Dole's )and add a can of mixed fruit, cut up an apple, and a banana to add to it. I'd never get all of these servings eaten ,if I didn't do it this way. Hope this helps everyone.

It is OK Barb. We all strive to get in our 5 a day.. some days we do great others not so well. The goal is to try and increase them. Summer time is usually much easier for me to get them in as I eat alot of salads fresh fruit. I do eat 2 bananas every day, have fruit in my cereal, will have a salad either as lunch or with my dinner, and I try to eat a veggi with dinner as well. The phases are mere stepping stones. If you do not feel you are ready to take the step, then go back and stay at phase 1 for a little longer.

I did not do so well today. I signed up for Spark Phase 2, but it requires 5 fruits/veggies which I do not normally do. I usually have 2 fruits and then veggies. But with all these added, it takes away from the entrees I want to eat because almost every one of them are over the limit when I eat all this other stuff. I am not sure that's so good because knowing me, I overdo it. And that's exactly what I did today. Ugh......

TLDUVALL ,you will have to consider yourself kicked. lol I wish I had an answer for you,but don't. I get in some funny moods, myself, and it slows the exercise program down. You seem to have got a burst of energy to get down on your knees and scrub the grout on tile floor. What a rough job. I hate to see rainy dark days ,too. It doesn't help the moods either. Maybe, we will snap out of it after the holiday. Good luck to you.

I am slipping into an odd mood. With the lack of exercise these past couple of weeks, and just having so much work that needs to be done and not feeling like I am getting any of it done. I am getting into a sit and watch movies for days mood. I need to snap out of it. Please give me a swift kick in the ---. I am trying to complete tasks, but not being able to because of one thing or another and it is not helping. I did get down on hands and knees and scrub the grout on my tile floor last night. I had to do something to make myself feel better. I really feel myself going into the winter blues. HELP

That's a good idea. There is no where around the gym but there is a track and even other places in the building. I usually just sit there and watch.

You mentioned Basketball practice. I am assuming you are talking about your son's practice. What do you do during that time? Can you walk around the gym or is there a place near by for you to work out, walk or run? This may be a time for you to get alittle exercise in. Just a thought.

I can try. I am totally not a morning person but that may be the best way to do it. I never thought about getting up earlier.

Smile- Can you get up 30-60 minutes earlier? I find that the morning exercise gets me going and gives me more energy for the day.
