CKTALL, The group has been on the slow side as of late so feel free to post challenges of your own. I've been trying to get things to settledown at work so I can get back on a workout schedule and start posting my own workouts and challenges.

Settimia - I can't recommend any youtubes, but here are some instructions on tracking KB workouts. If you are doing interval training with them and getting your heart rate in to the aerobic range then you can track the time and calories by creating your own exercise. At maximum intensity a 40min kettlebell session with a 10min warm up and cool down maxs out at 1200 calories burned.

For tracking the actual exercises you can track them like you would a regular weight routine, or just have a set of workouts with known times or reps so you know approximately what you did on a given workout.

Hi I am new to the group and pretty new to KBing

I did take a Russian KB course a weeklong session where we were taught how to swing. We also at the last 2 days did routines.

It was great fun. I now have my own set of KBs up to 30lbs in 5 lb increments and want to get going on a program to supplement my weights and cardio and walking. I like KBing because it is so different and really works you all around.

I am excited to be here

Where can I find routines and challenges

Thanks

Welcome to the group Tech,

I've been out of the loop for a while and getting back into the group and on track for my own kettlebell workouts. I'm restarting the Skogg program at week 1 this week. I recently discovered a site called nerdfitness.com and will use some of their methods for setting up a tiered challenge for March so people of all skill levels can get involved.

Hi guys,

My name is Paul. I am looking at using the kettlebell in my fitness program. I have ordered Tracy Reifkind's book on the swing and have a 35 lb kettlebell to use. Will there be a February challenge ? Have great weekend everyone. emoticon

Hi, I am Carmen. I started Kbing about 6 weeks ago, from internet streaming video classes. I love it! I do about 30 minutes 3x a week. I recently found out I am pregnant and am wondering if there are any other preggy ladies out there who are KBing through a pregnancy?

I have struggled with pregnancy-induced lower back issues in the past (sciatica) and I am exdcited about how KBs stabilize the core, glutes and hams plus I love the workouts. Stronger is better in my situation.

Hi,

Whether using a kettlebell or dumbbell it's all in how you use it. Those of us that are using the kettlebell find it to be an efficient way to strengthen and tone the body while also getting that cardiovascular system into overdrive.

Welcome to the most efficient way to burn calories while increasing aerobic endurance, muscular endurance, and muscular strength. A study commissioned by the American Commission for Exercise (ACE) showed that an experienced user can burn between 1000 and 1200 calories in a 40min workout. I find it a constant challenge to finish my planned workouts, but I'm always happy with the results when I'm done.

Hope you had a good weekend

Hi all, My name is Mickey and I am new to this team. I just got my Kettlebell and ordered kettlebel core iron work out DVD. Should be arriving shortly and I am so excited. I feels the kettlebell is much easier to handle and do work out with then a dumbbell. Hopefully I can get a lot from my new workout gear. Nice to meet you all and looking forwards learning more about kettlebell.

Misty,

Welcome to the world of kettlebells. The techniques can be tricky depending on your fitness, or lack of fitness, experiences. I've seen experienced lifters struggle and people who have never lifted a free weight pick it up quickly.

If you haven't had a chance to read some of the other threads in our team page here's the short version. If possible look for a Russian Kettlebell Certified (RKC) or other experienced instructor and just do a one-on-one session to make sure your form is good. If that's not a possibility make sure you have a good set of DVDs and a mirror to workout next to. There are several kettlebell trainers and DVDs listed in the threads but some good ones are Dragondoor.com and Skoggsytem.com.

Hi everyone. I have been using kbells now for about 2 month...love them. my gym does not have them so i bring my bells with me. Fun because i do the farmer's walk from my car to the gym. I purchase a set of 3 (10/15/20) . The first week the 10lbs felt like a ton...now i am doing swings, snatch and the figure8 with the 20lbs... looking to purchase heavier soon. I have also started to do cross fit ...intense, but addictive emoticon

Hi!! I got a 10lb kettlebell for my birthday (July 26) and have been using it in combination with the 5K training program. I think I am ready to learn a lot more of what can be done and accomplished with that cutie!!

Hi I'm relatively new to KB'ing....read the Swing by Tracey Reifkind and was inspired. I bought the Skogg Kettlebell DVD set and believe I now have great form.

My aims - I've recently lost 22kg and aim to lose another 14kg by KB'ing, running and healthy food choices. I would also like to become a certified KB trainer sometime in the very near future....

Hi, I am a beginner KBer. I just bought a 15 pound (I know, I know), and a 10 pound KB and Lauren Brooks' KB for Women book. I tried a few swings after checking out her vids online and the book, but my lower back (down near my tailbone; I've had back spasms there before) started aching, so I stopped. I wasn't pushing my butt out far enough I guess?

Anyway, I'm really excited to start using the kettlebells without getting myself hurt so I can see some results! I have been doing the 30 Day Shred, too, and I have noticed a difference doing that. But I'm impatient.

Hello all. I have been a member of SP for a little over a year. I lost 50 lbs. and am now down 45 lbs. My workout regimen has been 3 days of pretty aggressive kickboxing 3 days a week and resistance band training for 45 minutes 3 days a week alternating between upper and lower body. I have never enjoyed strength training but I understand that I need to do it and am pleased with the results I have seen from using the bands. But I need a change and kettlebells seems to be it. I have been all over the web doing research. I bought a 30 lb. KB and have been doing beginner workouts for about 3 weeks -- lots of swings. I am fairly confident in my technique, but I probably need to have someone observe me to know for sure.

Anyway, I have lots to learn, but I am a willing student. I hope to advance my education via this message board. See ya' around!

I'm Lily,
I'm new to kettlebells but not new to lifting or SP :)

There's a guy at work who LOVES kbs and talks about them all the time. I like mixing things up and trying new things.

My current goals are conditioning (spent a lot of time off with 2 overtraining injuries in 2010, had/ have a hard time doing what I want to do in a smart way since) and lowering body fat (a bit more complicated, as my current devices give different responses: 26 or 30. I can't afford the water test--so I have to sort of find the median there and gauge by it). My goal is to lower body fat by 5% and I know that's HARD (which for me involves MOSTLY nutrition). I'm a size 6 and want to get back into a 4, where I feel most comfortable. I'm 40 years old and work as a graphic artist.

Hello everyone! emoticon I have used KBs before and loved them. Now that it's turning colder and dark in the mornings and evenings, I can't get out and run and I'm getting bored with my gym classes, so I thought I would pick up the KBs again. I'm going to start off like a beginner and just start with getting the proper form and do basic swings. emoticon

Howdy all,

I've been using kettlebells off and on for the last 6 years.I got certified in the Skogg System a year ago before moving away from Portland. Now I'm working out at a Crunch gym swinging on my own and getting back into my military shape. I will be starting week 2 of the Skogg system DVD program to recondition myself before going back to building my own workouts.

Hope everyone is enjoying their KBs

Hi

I'm new to kettlebells, I went to my first class on Monday. I will be honest, I didn't know anything about it before I joined the class.

I have recently joined a gym and the membership covers classes, I wanted to up my routine.

I am used to cardio and resistance work in the gym, but I was totally unprepared for my first kettlercise class.

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed it, I will even be going back next week. 3 days on and my legs still hurt.

Anyone got any tips on how to get up and down stairs after doing a class?

Janekb you are so right about the calories posted by sparkpeople. I did 10 min of swings- had my heart rate monitor on and yes my heart rate got up to 155 very quickly and I did a 2 min stretch and my monitor said I burnt 154 calories. So I just manually entered my numbers to be accurate.

I got my first Kettle Bell workout DVD today. It is Kettle Bell Drills by Paul Katami.

He seems to have good qualifications to teach this:
Qualifications: ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor. AFAA Certified Fitness Instructor. AFAA Certified Personal Trainer. Kettle Bell National Master Trainer. ECA Fitness Presenter. IDEA Fitness Presenter. UCLA Certified Fitness Instructor.

Just be aware that the calorie burn that sparkpeople uses for kettlebells is not accurate, it is way high - 3-10 times too much for most people doing kettlebells, depending on the weight you are using and the type of exercise you are doing and how fast (how many of them in a minute) you are doing them. So don't rely on this or the calorie deficiency or you will get very frustrated you are not getting the results that sparkpeople says you should be getting. The calorie burn that sparkpeople uses was taken from a tabatta snatch exercise done by extremely fit men using very heavy kettlebells (24kg average I think, that is 52 lbs), doing something like 20-25 snatches in 15 seconds). If you are not doing that level of workout, you are not burning that level of calories.

To get your actual calorie burn, use a heart rate monitor. Sparkspeople does not measure the calories of strength training exercises, so the after burn of these are not recorded. But you can enter the grinds you do into sparkpeople ST area.

Do a search in this sparkteam to find more details on the research that showed how much calories were burned and what they did to get that level of calorie burn.

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to the group. I'm using 15 lb, 20, and 25lb KBs now. It depends on the specific exercise and how my wonky shoulder/knees feel on a given day. I had one incredible workshop at Inspiration Fitness in Crown Point, IN. Now I'm using DVDs (Pavel's Enter the Kettlebell and Andrea DuCane's Goddess Workout). I also follow Josh Hillis and Lauren Brooks.

How do we track kettlebell exercises on SP?

Hi everyone! I'm new to the group!

I discovered kettlebells about a month ago, and I've been practicing swings, snatches, and cleans since then. Even with my limited experience, I've seen a huge difference in my physique already. I haven't lost a significant amount of weight with kettlebells, but my shoulders, back, and thighs are more defined.

I have about 15 pounds left to lose, so I'm excited to incorporate something so efficient into my routine. In addition to kettlebells, I cycle about 15 to 20 miles a day and practice kickboxing a few times a week.

Great to be here! emoticon

If you find a great instructor you will really get addicted to live classes. Last night we did a paper workout she had us do 10 sets of 10 front squats, jerks, and single leg lunges with weight, you talk about a workout, then we did traveling lunges with weight and side lunges. My glutes are screaming this am. I am so addicted now I don't think I could quit. I love my dvds too but live class is very motivating. The more you do the more endurance you seem to build up. I too love the changes and how fast they happen. Kettlebells baby the only way to work out.

Hey guys...so glad to have found you! I am new to kettlebells but am already so addicted! Purchased my first kettlebell at Target was this little 7lb thing and yes it was fun and I got a great cardio workout, but I am on a much better track now. It spurred me to learn everything that I can which is when I learned that my weight was too light. I now use a 10kg bell and working on my form. What amazes me the most is how quickly I am seeing results. My hubbie has even noticed and asked for a bell for fathers day. So i got him that and the Steve Maxwell DVD. I also love Lauren Brooks! Currently I am doing ketttlebells 3x a week but I am recovering much faster now than before. I am also checking into my city's Kettlebell Club. I so want to take lessons and really perfect my form.

I just received my set of Kettlebells in the mail today. I am new to KB. I am looking forward to learning. I have watched some youtube videos and did a little kb today. I hope to find a dvd for beginning women soon. Any recommendations?

Thanks, Cheryl

My set is 5, 10, and 15 pounds.

“I feel the greatest destroyer of peace today is 'Abortion', because it is a war against the child... A direct killing of the innocent child, 'Murder' by the mother herself... And if we can accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love... And we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts...”

Hi Team!

I am very new to KBing and I have my first evaluation and session tomorrow! I am hoping to learn proper form and technique with the my RKC instructor and use various DVDs at home as I prefer working out at home and outdoors as much as possible. I have started building my KB DVD collection and am starting off with Paul Katami and will be purchasing RKS soon (Reinhardt Kettlebell System). I have many more on my wish list for sure!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone as we swing our way to better health!

Hi kettlebellers!!! I am new to the team and love kettlebells. I started incorporating them into my workouts about a few months ago. I haven't found a regular routine that I have stuck with as I tend to change up my workouts often. Any suggestions of what has worked for you, I am happy to give it a try!

Welcome to the Kettlebell Challenge. I am a fairly new member too, I don't know what the challenge is, but kettlebells are a challenging workout. If they seem too easy to you, you need a heavier kettlebell. There is a lot of information in old posts about kb workout dvds, proper form, etc.

I hope you enjoy working out with kettlebells as much as I do.

New to Kettlebells - mostly because I am doing crossfit. Looks like this team has been dormant for a while. Anyone around? The team said, its a challenge... what is the challenge exactly?

Hi Callie,

I'm rather new here myself, but I asked many of the same questions, and this is what I've learned:

Yes, the swing is *the* fundamental exercise. Master it before moving on. There's a sticky post titled "Synopsis of a Swing" that provides detailed explanation of how everything should look, move and feel. Why is the swing so important? Kettlebell exercises generally fall into two categories:

- Ballistic movements, like the swing, are performed quickly and recruit lots of muscle groups. A tennis player's serve is a ballistic movement; it requires core stabilization (abs and back), then driving through the chest, upper back, and shoulders into the arms for a high-speed split-second burst of power. Other ballistic kettlebell movements, like the clean and the snatch, use the same basic motion as the swing, so developing a safe and efficient swing is essential.

- Grinds should be more familiar, as this is what most American weight lifting entails. Chest presses and deadlifts are grinds; they're performed slowly, and focus on a handful of muscle groups, though you'll rarely see isolation exercises like tricep kickbacks. The Turkish Get-Up is probably the first new exercise you'll learn in this group.

- Some exercises, like the clean and press, employ movements from both groups.

Experienced gireviks (kettlebellers) can work out 5-7 days a week, and many of the long-timers in this group do just that. Beginners, however, probably shouldn't train that often; your muscles need time to repair and grow stronger, regardless of how they're challenged.

The most respected book on kettlebell training is _Enter The Kettlebell_ by Pavel Tsatsouline; the inital training program he recommends is four days per week: two days of swings and two days of Turkish Get-Ups. If you're doing Bento's 20 minute beginner workout on the 3-in-1 video, you may want to start at 3 times a week, so you're not taxing the same muscles at high intensity on consecutive days.

Hi, I just started kettlebells. I am 51 and need to get in shape. I am using an Amy Bento beginning dvd to learn the ropes. It seems like the swings are the basic move. Can you do kettlebells everyday? I know with weight lifting, you rest every other day. Is it beneficial to do swings everyday? How many? What kinds of benefits have members seen from kettlebells? Thanks for the info. Calliebird

Hi everyone. One of the trainers at my gym uses kettlebells and introduced me to them during one of my free training sessions. I love them. My husband got me a set for Christmas so I can use them when I can't get into the gym. Now, I'm doing Crossfit and they are used a lot in workouts.

Hi I've actually been reading your posts for the past few weeks and finally decided to join. I am doing live kettlebell training and really enjoy it. I was using the iron core series but wanted to test my form and make sure I was doing the moves correctly. My first intro class was this past Saturday and my first upper body was Monday. I really enjoy using the competition bells this instructor has in her gym and she has all her certficiations in place and so does her husband. They make learning very enjoyable and the kettlebell experience a lot of fun. Now I know why you all kept raving about getting a real kettlebell instructor. I'm signed up for the month of March, it's about 20 miles from my house, so I will see how this month goes and go from there. I still would like to get a couple good dvds to do at home on my own but realize training is really the way to go.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

FullplateMama,
There is a huge difference between a 15 lb and a 30 lb, so don't just jump to the 30 lb, try an in between weight instead. There may be a gym close by that has KBs you can do some drop in visits with to try out different weights.
I am posting for you some things to try in the regular forum, so it doesn't get lost here in the introduction area. They should help you progress some before having to get a new KB (or at least confirm yes, you need to go up some weight).

Yes. There are HKC and RKC instructors in Memphis. Naturally, the HKC's will be less expensive, but still qualified. I found a list on dragon door because I was planning a trip to Memphis, but then the trip got cancelled. I'd love to meet with someone in Memphis and make a weekend of it. I never get tired of Beale St. and Blues City Cafe!! Best of luck.

Alabama, I'm in the state next door to the west. Not a lot of RKC folks around here but I think I will be able to find some in Memphis.

There are some amazing DVDs out there that teach one how to all about KB and give one an amazing workout.

A lot of them are hidden in the forms...on this group just have to do some digging.

Welcome! What part of the deep South? I'm in Alabama. You can look for an instructor in your area by doing a search on www.dragondoor.com There's a tab at the top of the site labled "Instructors". You can search by state for HKC and RKC instructors. Just from personal experience I wouldn't suggest moving to a heavier weight if you aren't sure that your form is correct. Do you have any dvd's by RKC instructors? There are many recommendations here on the board.

Hi all,
I'm a 45 yr. old mom of 3 living in the deep South. Just signed on with Sparkpeople and wanted to immediately find a kettlebell group.
I am obsessed with kettlebells but live in an area with no RKC certified instructors. I have tried to learn on my on through reading and on-line videos but I know that is not the way to go. I got my husband hooked too and we may try to drive to a larger city near us to have a couple of classes if we can find someone who is certified. I'm just happy to have others to talk with about KB. In the meantime I am doing about 100 to 150 swings daily with a 16 pound weight.
From what I am reading here, that may be too small for me. I could use my husband's starter 30 lb. KB but not sure if that is the way to go since I don't know if my form is spot on yet or at all for that matter. Any ideas or advice? Should I be doing a higher number of daily swings or get a larger KB. weight?

Thanks!

Lori,
Make sure your neck is always neutral with your spine (one line from butt up thru top of head). If you are lifting your head up as you are at the bottom of your swing, you can stress the neck. Hopefully that will solve your neck issues.
Note: A certified Canadian instructor taught head always faced forward so maybe that is how they teach in that certification program, but when I do that it stressed my lower back, so I follow the RKC teachings of being neutral.

Welcome Audrey. If possible, try to find an HKC or RKC instructor in your area. Nothing substitutes for hands-on training. But, if no one is available get yourself some good instructional dvd's by experienced RKC trainers. Most women are able to start with an 18 lb. kettlebell. I started with 5 lbs., and was having back pain. As soon as I met with an instructor and had my form corrected, I could swing 30 lbs., pain free. Please ask questions and get to know the other members. There are many experienced kettlebell lifters, as well as beginners like yourself. We're all here to help.

Hello, I am just going back to exercising with kettlebells. I am somewhat new to kettlebells, so I really am not fluent with kettlebell language or the kettlebell DVDs out there but Kettlteworx. Hope to learn and healthier along the way!

Andrea Du Cane is a terrific instructor and you made a wise choice (if you don't like music). Might I suggest her new dvd, "The Kettlebell Boomer"? Don't be taken aback by the title. It's not just for us older folks. It's absolutely the best instructional dvd I have ever seen. There are four students whose fitness levels range from beginner to advanced. The exercises are well explained for each level of fitness. This video is so new it is only offered at www.dragondoor.com.

I am a beginner who is learning the purist, RKC Hardstyle method.

Hello-Just started using kettlebells 3 weeks ago and instantly fell in love! I've been using Jillian Michaels kettlebell dvd 2-3 times a week along with doing cardio on my off days. So far I am hooked! Looking for other dvd's to try as well. I have a Gin Miller dvd but I am not sold on it yet. So far I am liking the results!

Hi RETALLENT! Thanks for the Welcome! I got "The Kettlebell Goddess" workout. I've heard a lot of mixed reviews about it because of lack of music and weird breathing, but heard it's a pretty good workout. I actually liked when I heard this one didn't have music because I tend to mute the tv after I learn a routine and play my own music. I also got Jillian Michaels "Shred it with Weights" I've heard this isn't really the best kettlebell workout out there but I'm a huge Jillian fan, so kinda had to have! LOL!

We're glad to have you. Which dvd's did you order? Maybe you'll take the opportunity to tell us what you think about them after you've had a chance to view and apply the exercises. We have a section on the board for dvd reviews. We're always interested in hearing about the dvd experiences of our members.

Good morning and welcome to the painful, challenging, addictive, and extremely beneficial kettlebell: the one piece of equipment that you will have a love/hate relationship with.

If you are looking to find some kb exercises, visit www.artofstrength.com, then. Click on the women's link, then click on the Minute of strength link, then click show all. It's amazing, and the good thing is that everyone of every fitness ability can do thesed as long as your kb is the right size for you and the exercise you are doing, and you follow proper form so that you do not injure yourself.

My friend/personal trainer got me going to this site 2 years ago. Haven't visited it in a while though..thanks for the inadvertent push!

I just started kettlebell one week ago and holy **&&!!.(got a 10lb.for xmas)It is a workout and I am obsessed and trying to find a few classes in my area. Right now I have been scouring youtube etc. for workout ideas. I got a hrmonitor for christmas and in 38 minutes I burned 400 calories and was in my zone. It is a great workout,I highly recommend to anyone. Except you really have to focus or you could get hurt.I bumped my knee with the ball, oops.

Hi! I am new to kettlebell training. I've heard about it a couple of years ago and am just getting started with it. I have a hard time sticking to strength training...I get bored, so I thought I'd give this a try. I like the fact that KB workouts really get your heart rate going in addition to getting your strength training in. I also find the exercises fun. I am looking forward to reading blogs and learning more about KB training.

My brother turned me on to KB's & convinced me (after about a year of coxing) to try them. I'm glad I did!!! They truly give a "WHOLE" body workout. I have been using them off-and-on for the past 2 years, but just picked them up again this past month after about a 6-month break. Just simply burned out on them & had been doing a lot more running in the meantime. I know alternating the two will be great together--I love the runner's high, but I really love the strength I feel using the KB's. Amazing how much more you can lift as opposed to "regular" weights. I currently alternate a 20 & 26 lb. KB. My main goal is to tone up & maintain my weight (I wouldn't mind losing 7-10 pounds, but those are mainly "vanity" pounds, so not a top priority). I am married with 3 kids (including 2 1/2 year-old twins) and I am a teacher----so I have to get up early to workout before the day begins, but I am totally committed. I get up without hesitation & "just do it!" I am here to look for advice & tips to continue & excel with my KB's.

Focus on what you CAN do, instead of what you can't!

It's not about lowering the weight on the scale; it's about increasing the weight on the bar!

Stop weighing yourself! Focus on eating healthier & getting stronger. Looking better will simply be an added bonus!

I'm pretty new to kettlebells.
I just got through doing The FIRM's transFIRM your trouble zones 45 minute complete workout. It's the only instruction I've had on kettlebells, and it's only my second time doing this workout.
It's definitely a good workout, but it's only one five pound kettlebell, and makes it look like I'm a wimp compared to the rest of you. :)

Hi all! I'm new to kettlebells also. I read an article in "More" magazine about their benefits (strength training and cardio in one, woohoo!) and decided I had to try it, since I was already strenght training with free weights anyway. I ordered my first Kettlebell on ebay (15 lbs) and got it Friday. Ready to get started!!

Hello, all. I am completely new to kettlebells. I actually know nothing about working with them yet. However, I have a desire to learn.

I started weightlifting in the early nineties and absolutely fell in love with it. I got my personal trainers certification through NSCA two years ago, and I think kettlebells would be wonderful addition to my program. I am not willing to start incorporating them until I am certified. I take client safety VERY seriously and I would never introduce a form of exercise to my clients unless I am very proficient wit it myself.

Anyways, I am very glad that I found this group.

Hi! I am new to kettlebells too. I went to the chiropractor who was recommended by my pastor, for a back issue. The DC (doctor of chiropractic)is a certified Russian kettlebell instructor and uses kettlebell for his patients in rehabbing.

I am in the land of "pause" and it is harder to lose weight. I have an issue with a cyst on the outside of my left knee and because I am about 20 pounds overweight classifying me as obese, it has been hard, and slow in getting the extra weight off of me even though I eat healthy and have been working out with a personal trainer as well.

I do use an elliptical with the personal trainer in addition to strength training, and band resistance; and when at the "Y" also use their elliptical too.

I have tried a walk/jog interval but my knees scream out in pain afterwards. It didn't help that I fell on both of them on the asphalt path in our neighborhood a year ago last May. Ouch!

So even jogging/walking interval is out of the question for now. But I can walk and do.

So my goals are: avoid any type of back surgery down the road, lose the weight, stengthen my core, and my legs in order to strengthen my knees.

Hi Lauren, I was introduced to Kettlebells by my pastor. He went to the doc's and although he works out fairly regularly, he needed to do cardio on the advice of his physician. So... here we are. I have a couple fairly easy workouts in my fav. file on You Tube, because... and am extremely out of shape. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to exercise, but I hit a majot bump in the road and after that was this deep pot hole... but it's ok... I'm out of it now,... LOL!

The first day I did only five lunges on each leg with some additional exercises, and oh... my... gosh... it was evident the next day just how out of shape I am. Oh, did those knees SHOUT at me everytime I stood up to do walk to the printer or go to a co-workers desk...ooooo!!! I am so excited to find this, I did a search and that is how I found you. Looking forward to really getting started. Cindy

I'm Lauren! I am so happy to have found this team! I fell in love with kettlebells a couple of months ago. I was looking online for something different than what I had tried in the past -- and I found it! I was impressed with the variety of exercises and the nearly immediate results you can achieve using the KBs. The intensity of the workouts also impressed me. I got my first exercise-high near the end of my first workout, and have been hooked since. I did a great deal of research on KB before choosing to try it. The only drawback is that I have found very few places in my area that offer workout instruction. Most of the places that do are MMA gyms and they want me to buy a whole package just to get to the bells. No thanks. I can't afford personal training, so I have had to count on DVDs and other sites to continue.
I have noticed a lot of definition in my thigh area and I am even getting some definition in my upper arms. I have not been as consistent as I would like, but now that I have found this team, I will have a lot more encouragement and resources to choose from!

Hi, I'm Tina. I started using KB about 5 years ago and then life got in the way....and now I am back with it. I have a set of 12's and 16's. I was using the 16's for daily work but...not so much anymore, back to 12's for daily and 16's for grind. I have about 30lbs to lose and quite a bit of strength to regain.

Welcome to the team! Please introduce yourself to everyone by providing the following:

1. How did you get interested in KBs and how long have you used them?

2. Overall goals-lose weight, overall fitness, build muscle?

3. Anything else you might want to add!

PLEASE start a new thread for each introduction rather than responding under another team member's thread.

For Newbies-check out the Swings 101 sticky post. If you'd like DVD or Video Clip referrals, check out the DVD/Video forum. Jane's doing a great job of getting it organized!

To track your progress and log your workouts, go to the motivation/challenge forum and start a new thread under your name to track your training.

Again Welcome! We're glad you're here!

Strength does not come from pysical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.
