Hello back on spark people and now in new area. I moved here to NorCal from SoCal over a year ago. It's very different and I am still learning the area as well as the people here. I am an optimistic person and always look for the good in others. I am looking forward to getting to know others here and hopefully see you at a color run or any 5k runs.

Welcome Amberyn71! Sounds like you have a tough schedule.

My only advice is don't over-commit yourself to exercise. Not being able to keep to a specific schedule may just frustrate you, making you resentful or feeling like a failure.

I have considered getting up earlier, but 4:30 is already early enough. I have some flexibility at work, so I'm thinking about working out when I first get to work. I'm sure my supervisor will be all for it, I just have to ask! My goal, once I go back to work next Monday, is to work out twice a day. We'll see how that goes!

Welcome! You and I have similar schedules--I work a 40-hour week in San Francisco and have a long commute as well.

For a time, I was very motivated to get up at 3:30 (I know, I know) to exercise before getting ready for work, and I'd like to get back to that. The thing is, I have to go to bed at 7:00 (lights out by 7:30) in order to make that possible.

I'm hoping to get back on that schedule now that the holidays are over with.

I am "reconnecting" with SparkPeople with a renewed committment to my health and losing weight. I am a happliy married mother of two boys, 17 and 14. I am in the Coast Guard and only have to lose about 8 pounds to be in compliance, however I want to lose 40-45 pounds to be where I want to be. I have plenty of workout/exercise material, including a treadclimber & bowflex in my house, plus I just got Hoopnotica for my birthday and have also been using Dance Central on XBox as a tool. They have a fitness program!

My biggest obstacle is time. I work a forty hour week, and I have a one hour commute each way. By the time I get home I just want to relax. I know that exercise will help with stress, and will also help me sleep better so I am more rested, not to mention I'll have more energy. I'm looking forward to making this permanent change!
