Hi Bar8Jan and welcome. Getting started depends on what you want to do. This team is a wonderful place because we have monthly challenges and that might be the very best start you can make.
Do you know how to navigate around the sight? Let me know and I'll try to help you. First though, look at the top of this or any page and you'll see a banner in orange and below it, one in red. The orange one contains the main segments of SparkPeople. You can find your nutrition tracker and fitness tracker there. You will also find a place to send SparkMail (personal mail to other SparkPeople) It will be under TRACKERS. Another important place is COMMUNITY - There you will be able to click onto the teams you've joined (there is a drop down menu under community). That way you'll be in your team and can look around. I suggest you click on Challenge + Motivation=Weight Loss and it will take you to the team's main page.
Most importantly though - is not to get discouraged. There is a lot of information here on SparkPeople and within a couple of days you'll be so pleased with what you can do.
When you have time, you should also start your own SparkPage - that way people can contact you when they want.

Hi I'm new at this...but really have to lose weight......I got height blood pressure about 8 months ago...was pretty slim than....but than they put me on meds that made me gain weight......now I find it very hard to lose it.......I'm on the treadmill 2 times a day ...30 minutes each time....plus working 40 hrs a week......I'm a custodian....so I'm on the go a lot.....
