Hello, I'm new.
I'm hoping to see some activity rising here, because I like this theme, no mercy, and I am needing some hard work out routines. I've only a few pounds to loose, but I'm more interested in getting my flab out and the muscles back in. I don't drive and have no car, so I'll try the previous challenge for this week, and see how this goes.

Hello: I have been on sparkpeople a while and have lost most of the weight I want to. Been doing cardio pretty steadily, a treadmill. I want to add a weight workout program that is helpful and something of a challenge. I have barbells and some 25 pound dumbells. Also a Lat pulldown machine. Still have about ten pounds to lose and realize I have to balance weight loss and cardio with strength training

I'm a spark newbie but have been dieting since I was 10. At 29 I decided I needed to make a concerted effort to turn things around, to quit dieting and just try to be healthy. I did fairly well over the next few years. I learned to love working out and the game of keeping myself motivated.

I had a convergence of obstacles about 2 years ago and dropped the ball so entirely I am just coming out of that funk, 15 lbs heavier than when I started this journey 5 years ago. I've lost that 15 lbs since Thanksgiving and joined Spark a couple days ago in hopes that the abundance of information and options will keep me from losing track of myself again.

This team looks a little goofy and a little hard core, something that I find attractive. I look forward to joining the team challenges.

I cannot make myself be thin today, but I CAN be healthier by making a few smart choices. I focus on what needs to be done today and tomorrow takes care of itself.

Ivory is right... this team is only about 100% effort, Not completion. There are members on the team from all varying levels of fitness. We have some that are even wheel chair bound and we have some who think the challenges are too easy.

It's all about effort. That's all.
If at the end of the day you can say you gave 100% then it doesn't matter if you did 10 push ups or 100!

Welcome Chelsea! it is great to have a real tangible goal to work to like the FBI physical, congrats on going for it and good luck!

Here's the deal with the push-ups, you do what you can do and modify as you need to. I, for example, can only do about 6-8 push-ups on my feet at a time, then I drop to my knees, then I take breaks every 30 or so in sets 2 or 3, and sometimes I end up standing against the wall, but I try not to. Also, I only managed at most 8 of the 10 sets last challenge, so only 320, but I did them all on my knees. Do what you can do! That's all we ask.

Hi everyone! My name is Chelsea, I've been a member of SP for over 2 years now, it started when I bought a scale and saw the number 201 (I'm only 5"3'), I've been overweight most of my life, but never that big. That first year I lost about 30 pounds and have gained/lost 15 pounds for the last year. I work out intensely, but get bored with what I do, so this group, while it looks as intimidating as hell, seems like something I'd benefit from. Also I have a new goal, I'm sitting for the first phase of the FBI exam next week and if I pass that I have to pass a physical fitness test that is difficult to say the least. (Do over 50 sit ups, the old school kind in 60 seconds, sprint 300 meters in less than a minute, do at least 15 pushups (only good form ones count), and run a mile and half in under 14 minutes).

Wow this intro is getting long... I run now, I do sit ups now, I do push ups (with the knees down) now, but nothing to the level I will have to have it if I pass this exam. Even if I don't pass, its a great goal and I feel like these challenges will get me there.

Now here's my real question, who in the world here can really do 400 push ups like required in the latest challenge???????

And for the leader, JD, I share your affinity for lingerie, but I like wearing it, not seeing others in it!

Okay, honestly? I was really scared to join this group. But, well - that's when I knew I had to join.

I started up on Spark again about three weeks ago, and I'm really digging it. I realize now that joining a team and staying active on the site is what really motivates me.

And luckily, I found this SparkTeam that's based on one of my favorite movies. I haven't read the book (I have read several other Palahniuk books, though), but will make that a goal.

Thanks so much for challenging us - I know that you will never live up to your potential without serious challenges (mental and physical). I'm hoping to kick some ass by joining this team. :D

Hi. I joined this team because you guys look serious. I am looking for serious workouts, serious commitment and serious accountability. That is my number one thing... accountability. I do not have that much to lose ... 10 - 20 pounds. But I do have much to gain.... fitness. I've got the flu and bronchitis and can't get into to see the doc until tomorrow so I'm down for the count for a few weeks. What a bummer to get sick now!
I'll get with the program as soon as I feel well enough to rejoin the human race! (LOL, sorta!)

I'm new here and am working on losing 50 pounds by end of Summer next year. This group looks like it is full of motivation and determination to get with the program to get strong and healthy. My food intake is fine it is just the exercise part that has been such a struggle. I see so many works in progress over here with you monkeys that I want to be one too. I am joining this team with much trepidation, but also with a determination to be at 250 by my birthday dammit! (Sorry for the cursing, I don't do it often, but it is warranted in this situation!)

I have read the challenges, and am freaked out. However, after losing 50 pounds since July, I want the other 50 gone.

I am freaking out a bit, but I know that I CAN do the challenges, and that my body will hate me as I do them, but thank me for it later!!!

At the gym, I saw a t-shirt that said "Pain is weakness leaving the body." I want that to be me by this time next year. I want all my weakness to be gone and all my strength (physical and mental) to be obvious!

Hi there! I skate roller derby in southern California. We normally practice twice a week but we'll be taking a couple of weeks off during the holidays. During this break I don't want to loose the strength that I've already gained. I really want to continue to strengthen up and lose some of the last bit of weight that is holding on. I think this looks like the place for me to be right now. I have been a member of another weekly challenge team which went off the boil over the summer and never really bounced back. I had my best success when I had other people working alongside me on a challenge so that we could cheer each other one. I also love the positive peer pressure that an active team can provide ("they are all doing their best. I don't want to look like a wuss! I better get my $#@ in gear"). Thank you ONLYPLAYING! Thanks for the advice about warming up/cooling down. I will do the challenge after cardio. It will be nice to start together. Maybe I should leave my stats in my postings. I went to the gym yesterday and did 40 min elliptical and some light weights but not enough. Today I will officially start the floor work and use the ball. I think I will try the Exercise of the Day (on Spark People) Bicycle Crunches.

Good morning Gayle!
I'm pretty knew here myself, so we can be starting together! From what I've seen, a weekly challenge is posted that will give an exercise for you to do. It will seem outrageously hard when you first look at it, but give it a try. The rules are you don't have to go to 100% completion, but you do have to put in 100% effort. Make sure you warm up and cool down properly; otherwise you'll be stiff as well as sore. See you 'round!
