Thank you, WalkingGrandma! I learned about the website when I saw this team shortly after joining Sparkpeople. I think it's a great idea and will help keep me motivated. When it comes to cultivating an exercise habit, lack of motivation is always my no. 1 problem.
Like a lot of other Sparkpeople members, I joined because I figure I have wasted enough of my life being fat. I wasn't overweight when I was younger, but got this way because I became too busy to exercise or take the time to eat properly. Then when I realized I had a real problem it was so far advanced that for a long time I was too discouraged to do anything about it. But reading other people's success stories is really inspiring, so I'm going to give it a shot.
I plan to lose weight by going on a low carbohydrate diet and start taking walks around my neighborhood every day. I used to love walking, swimming, and dancing, but stopped doing them when other things got in the way. It's like my life shrank without me noticing! So, my goal this year is to get my health, my shape, & my active hobbies back.
