Hi all, I joined this group because the only way I will lose 90+ pounds is to do it one day at a time. I am a 32 yr old stay at home mom of 3, married for almost 12 years. Yesterday I started a 21 day detox to jumpstart my weightloss and to drop some bad eating habits. I am in the worst shape of my life but have more support around me than I've ever had. I know I can do it! Oh and by the way my name is Rebecca.

Hi all I'm Shandy. I've been on spark quite a while, but I just joined this team today. I saw it on somebodys page and it seemed like a great place for me to be. I've been looking at my long term goals and struggling because I know they're so far away and just recently figured out that I need to take it one day at a time, not to worry about the future, but to worry about today. so when I saw this team it seemed perfect for me.

Yea, I've learned that diets don't work!! (Isn't that on some commercial??) I've finally realized that it's about the small changes I can make that will lead to the big changes.

Welcome to the team. The more the merrier. Let me just give you my opinion. Do not see this as a DIET. Diets are only temporarily! You need to see this as a lifestyle change. What areas of eating, exercising, etc... can you change to improve. For example less fried foods more bakes, no more flour bread or pasta but Whole Wheat Pastas and bread, Smaller portions, no skipping meals, drinking your water, no more sugary drinks...........

Also, Don't start too big and wear your self out, start small, with small daily goals and work your way up gradually.

I read it takes about 6 weeks of doing something to build a habit. Aim to do your 100% one day at a time. That is all you can do! I'm glad you're here.

Long-term Goal: To overcome my hesitation and stay focused long enough no matter what happens in my life.

Medium-Term Goal: Reaching my goal 5% at a time.

Short-Term Goal:
*Drink my water daily
*30 min Exercise (and work my way up) 4 times/wk

Hi all!! I just recently created my own SparkTeam called "One Thing At A Time" based upon the exact same principles as you Yesi!! I've only got 3 members so far so maybe I'll just bring them on over here!!
Anyway, my name is Leanne and I'm 27 years old. I was always the type to decide that, "On Monday I'm going to start my new diet, exercise routine, hit the gym for an hour everyday this week and walk 10,000 steps a day." Needless to say, I would mess up on something and everntually give up. I've only recently learned that I need to do one thing at a time and take it one day at a time!! I only set myself up for failure when I expect too much out of someone who hasn't had a healthy diet or exercise regimen in place for several years now. But the best part is I learned and I'm taking it slow. So here's to great minds!!

Welcome to the team windsong. I am sorry about your mom and read that beautiful poem on your page. You are right that we can do better but we have to make that decision, to do our 100% each day. I know there are days when we don't care but we have to fight those feelings and some days we just have to do what we don't feel like doing. It's hard but all of us here are trying to work on this every day keeping the faith that we will get it right and that it will get easier. Well.... maybe not easier but tolerable.

I was just checking some member's Spark Pages and saw this group and it called out to me. I truly believe in taking it slow and one day at a time, one step at a time, so will be interested in seeing what I can glean from this spiritually oriented team.
I am originally from Maine, went to school for almost half my life (In addition to working and raising my kids on my own, physically and financially) in Cambridge, MA, which I consider home, have grandkids in Colorado who I miss, have a wonderful SO in my life and I got on this site to help me lose the weight that came on after an accident and menopause came at my door at the same time. I was always small, ran a lot, then I went to weighing as much as I did when I had each child, that is up 50 lbs. Gross. So I am slowly going down, loving Sparks, and thankful I live in FL now where I can go out very comfortably almost every day.
I am also an avid animal lover with two rescued cats and a dog, my walking partner. My family is scattered, mom and dad still in Maine, and the majority of close friends are in Maine and Mass. It takes a long time to make a true friend. I am glad to be here!

Hello all. I am a new team member and just wanted to introduce myself. I am 33, recently married and have a 15 yr. old step son. I have about 117 pounds to lose and just need to take one day at a time. I have lost 5 pounds in the past week but am afraid to step on the scale this week b/c I have not been good. Today however, was a new day and I woke up and got on my elliptical trainer (an exciting 6 mins. before I thought I was going to die.) I then did a 1 mile walk with Walk away the pounds. Today has been good. God bless you all through the holidays.

I'm Diane. I'm 54 and currently doing low carb w/ excellent results. It's not an overnight thing to lose weight since it didn't come on overnight. So, I will indeed take ONE DAY AT A TIME! Hope I find good encouragement in this forum.

Hi all ~ I'm glad Spark made a mistake and listed this team twice on the notable teams list. I wouldn't have seen it otherwise. I'm trying to break my lifestyle change into manageable buckets rather than trying to do everything at once and getting overwhelmed. It seems like I start over a lot with very little progress. This looks like a team that can help me get out of that loop so I can start making real progress.

Hi I just joined this team. I have been a member of Spark since 10/2007. I have been away from the benefits of the Spark group and I am back to the Spark principles. I am married for ten years and working full time and attending college online to get my bachelors degree in human resources. I have alot going on and I forget to take time for myself so I am starting over again to get healthy.

hi, i'm a 44 yr old nzer, i'm a firm believer in taking things one day at a time, i've been with sp almost 3 weeks now and it definitely appeals to me, i'm an evening/night shift worker and in the short time i've been with sp have learnt quite a bit about rearranging my meals, exercise, even sleep patterns. good to meet you all,

I everyone- my name is Mary and I have been with SP since April 08. My track record isn't good at all. I loose a couple of pounds only to regain them the next week. It seems I always have an excuse to not follow thru with my goals/plans that I was so determined with when I made them. I am trying to not look at the big picture as I have about 80 pounds to loose. I know that It is over whelming and I must take one day at a time and sometimes one minute/one hour at a time. I am excited about this team and look forward to sharing ideas and my daily trials and triumphs with you. I am truly grateful to know that I am not in this alone. emoticon

It is not easy, change is never easy. This is not a diet it is a lifestyle change. Learning new eating habits, letting go of the junk we choose to put in our trunk, lol, exercising consistently, enough sleep, enough water......

Hi! Thanks for the welcome messages both on this post and on my page! I can tell I'm going to like it here!
Luckily, the meds I was taking were a "necessity". They were hormones to improve female "functions". So, if I could've taken them, it would've been great but, I can live without them. Also, I'm glad I have a dr who listens when I told him I didn't like these meds and the weight gain.

Hi, I'm Steph. I've been on SP for almost a year now, and had lost 47 lbs. I gained 13 back due to some medications. Thankfully, the dr took me off them because I gained that weight in 3 weeks. Now, I'm trying to get that weight off. After that, I'd like to lose another 20 lbs.
