I am from Victorville California (High Desert) I've built a beautiful raised bed vegetable garden out of cinder block each bed is 16" deep. I've built my own soil 95 % organic peat moss, organic mulch, vermiculite and 5% garden soil. It has a drip system and I usually water by hand. I get some of the worse production compared to using native clay, sand, and 30% organic. I've been analysing the problem and realize I may need better drainage because the top 4 inches dry out but the bottom is like a sponge. It has been a headache due to cost and labor and yet we do not get an abundance of produce. I decided that I will test the PH and add sand to promote drainage.
I've recently started walking and I walk 2 miles a day four times a week. I started walking to the end of the block three Weeks+ ago. I track everything I eat and enter foods before I eat. I plan on taking a Tai Chi class on saturdays. Tomorrow I start. I feel all sorts of aches and pains and know my body is alive under all this fat.
