great idea..it's so composed now cause it's so old and I can taer chunks off a piece at a time but today i found some metal in the tree stump..so which makes it harder...I believe the stump grew over the metal pieces..dont know where the metal came from...but I been living in my house for 35 years...so that tell you how old the stump is..thank you

Grandpa would say to drive nails into it, but that goes back to the days of iron nails instead of steel ones.

Try drilling holes in it and fill the holes with blood meal. Think composting, wood is a brown, blood meal is nitrogen (green) so it will help the wood decompose faster.
