We are still having rains - got another 1.73 inches last night and today. I am going to be planting that garden under my trusty . I have so many plants ready to go in the ground. Joshua did get my Puprleleaf Sand Cherry Bush planted along with my Bleeding Hearts. The rest is sitting in the garage waiting on a "drying out" so I can work the soil. Our last day for frost is today so hopefully we can get our hands dirty soon.
Hi Lucky and welcome to the Team! It is great to have you and we look forward to getting to know you and hearing all about your gardening in Florida. I am Sunny and I live in Missouri - Zone 5 and a very wet zone for the moment. I have yet to even get anywhere near my garden. Hopefully, we will dry out soon as we have lots of landscaping to do this year. We built an addition (sunroom) on to our house last year and the builders really tore up the yard.
I joined Spark People last October and have had a hard time getting off the computer ever since! I just love all that the site has to offer and have met some of the nicest people here! Hi to "my" Granni!
When I was growing up, my dad was in the Marines and although we didn't go outside the country, we crossed the nation five different times. During that time we always a had a vegetable garden and often grew flowers as well.
When dad retired, we lived in Mississippi for a while on 3 acres and grew veggies and fruit on most of the land. This experience, and my green-thumbed grandmother who lived in Gibsonville, North Carolina, helped me to have an interest in plants. And yes, I like to think I inherited her green thumb!
Fast forward to now, where I live in North Central Florida with my husband of almost 25 years (anniversary is in October!) and we have a lot of potted plants that will be put into the ground when we move north, hopefully later this year.
I'm not sure what I'll be planting in my flower beds this year. It will depend on how much rain we might or might not get. We have drought here often enough, and I've lost a lot of plants when we had to conserve water. Right now I'm thinking of planting wildflowers.
That's me in a nutshell! Please call me Lucky. My grandmother always said I was the luckiest person she ever met.
Life's an adventure ... take it one step at a time and don't underestimate yourself! You're capable of more than you think you are! How do I know this? You're still here aren't you? That means you haven't given up!
