Welcome to the group! I am also from Southeast Michigan. Good perennials that come back and are summer bloomers is Purple Cone Flower, Black-eyed Susan, and Shasta Daisies. Do a search on Michigan Wildflowers and see what will grow easily for your conditions. Also check out your city's garden group, if they have one. I know St. Clair Shores has one. They have a perennial sale each spring where you can get native plants 3/$5. Good quality, too. Also a plant swap in the fall, plus garden tours where you can get ideas.

If you want to see what I grow, and about when it is in full bloom, please visit

Angela - my yard is flooded too. ;-( We had flooding all last year too so it was a tough year to garden. I hope we get a "drying out" soon.

So glad you feel welcomed. We are certainly glad to have you!

We live along the river so I have a 'lake' out front from the run off. NOW is the time to get things done inside because you know when the spring comes we will be outside all day! ((HUGS)) Happy to meet you!
Are you doing any special exercise plans or eating goals for this month to work toward that goal weight you have on your sparkpage?

Hello Angelia
Welcome to the team. Some good flowers for summer are marigolds and 4 o'clocks. I have pink and yellow 4 o'clocks and they reseed every year. They bush and have pretty, dainty little flowers.

Hi MoonStar! Nice to have you here on Veggies and Blooms team. It is a great team and you will get lots of great ideas here. Some great flowers for mid summer to fall are the Clematis, the Cosmos, & If you would like a Rose, the "Knock Out" blooms most of the summer and comes in several colors. There is also the Midwest Rose which you can get from Midwest Living Magazine. It does well in the Midwest.

Take care and have a "Bloomin" good day. It is really good to meet you. I also have a wonderful hubby named Rich!
