Thank you for the welcome! I use a food dehydrator to dry most anything. For the squash, I slice it thin, dry it on the racks, and then store in a canning jar. I use them mostly in stews like minestrone, but am presently using it in a healthy cream soup.

I am glad you found the team. I thought you might enjoy it! I would love to hear how you dry your squash. I am the only one in my family that will eat it so I would love to preserve it to eat later. I do make squash/provolone paninis with the George Forman grill. Yum!! Let us know how you do it and what you use it in. :)

Blessings,
Stacey

Other than the ones mentioned, I like to grow pumpkins, gourds, chilis, jalapenos, pretty much anything except corn. That always gets the black fungus. If anyone knows a spray to treat that, or a variety that is immune, I would love to try it again.

WELCOME To the Veggies and BLoom Garden Team! I can't wait to hear about your garden. I am in Ohio so we may just be in the same planting zone.

ARE YOU ANXIOUS to get out in the dirt?! ( silly question!)

What veggies do you grow?

Yup. Had a very good year a couple of years ago and we were sick of squash, so I dried it to use in soups. Very good!

Hello! A friend invited me to this team and it looks like a great one to glean new info and share old. :)
I have fairly extensive perennial flower gardens on my suburban property. I also have a fairly good-sized veggie garden. I love to can my own pickles and salsa, dry my yellow squash, flash-freeze my peppers, and grill my zukes. Herbs are a new passion of mine. I love to dry them or make flavored vinegars from them.
