Thank you for the welcoming words! It's just such a relief to find other people who know what I'm going through.
I haven't started seeing a therapist yet. My doctor gave me a list of counselors but I just don't know how to choose one. I live in a rural area, so there aren't really a lot of choices.
It really helps knowing that there are so many supportive people on this team! Thank you so much!

Hi and welcome to the team! It is most definitely real and scary to have anxiety and anxiety attacks. Are you seeing a therapist that you can easily talk with? The meds, the therapy, exercising, eating well and having friends are all so important. It's been a long voyage for me, but I'm making it. You can, too. I journal a lot and that helps me. I also have a motivation book: motivational sayings that I read, words that catch my eye from magazines, occasional goal lists. I go back through this a bit to give myself pep talks. We're here for you.

God grant me the serenity to change the things I can, to accept the things I cannot change, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Hello! I just posted this in the "Introduce, Welcome, or Stop In to Say Hi" thread, but maybe I should have posted it separately??? emoticon

So here's a repost!

Hello, new team member here! emoticon

My name is Sharon, and I'm a 44 year old, happily married, mother of 2. I've been suffering from panic attacks since November 2013. My doctor has me on an anti-anxiety medication (that's not really helping), but I'm hoping that by eating better and exercising, I can be taken off of it eventually.

I'm hoping to make some new friends here who understand what I'm going through. My family thinks it's not a "real" illness and I should just "snap out of it."

Sorry for the rambling introduction, I just wanted to say hi to everybody!

Sharon
